Chapter 18
“Sess……..I have a question. Did you revive your human wife when you killed her?”
Sesshoumaru looked down at Inuyasha and then straight ahead as Inuyasha continued cleaning another room of the castle.
“No. Tensaiga did not pulse for her.”
Inuyasha nodded and continued his work. There was so much rebuilding to do and Sesshoumaru was currently working on more paperwork.
“I see.”
Sesshoumaru set his papers down now finished with them and went over to the wood piles. There was enough there to rebuild at least three more rooms and create the walkway that was once present. All the warped wood from the rain had been burnt so the castle itself would not be quite as immense as it once was. Sesshoumaru however planned to change that soon enough.
“So are we going to employ some help? I am certain that wimpy wolf jerk Kouga and his people owe you some kind of favor.”
Sesshoumaru looked at his brother and frowned.
“I have done nothing to warrant their favor Inuyasha. Perhaps you have, but I have no interest in the Northern tribes. I wish for our ancestral home to only be filled with Inu demons. Mother will send some servants to us soon enough. I have felt her presence as of late.”
Inuyasha really wanted a friend around, but Sess was being such a jerk about it all. Kouga may be a moron, but at least he was fun to be around.
Sesshoumaru picked up some of the wood after taking off his armor and haori then started work burning pieces of wood together with his acid which when put together acted like an adhesive rather than completely burning through the wood.
After creating a few walls he attached them to the sides of the castle then finished the floor only to later create a door large enough for them to enter, he somehow, by pure youkai power, made it slide open and shut. Levitating upwards he created the roof. The servants could finish the terra cotta tile shingles that would adorn it to keep the rain from ruining the wood. Seconds later another room was added and then another. Inuyasha was in awe of his brother’s powers.
“It only took you minutes to create three rooms.”
Inuyasha stated in awe.
“Yes.”
Inuyasha then looked at the other rooms noting how clean the wood did not bubble or burn through.
“How did you do this?”
Sesshoumaru shrugged looking rather bored as he sat eating a piece of the jerky they had made earlier.
“My acid is not like any other. I can change the chemistry within my very being.”
Inuyasha sat next to Sesshoumaru.
“I did not think you were one to get dirty doing menial labor.”
Sesshoumaru looked at Inuyasha feeling rather insulted.
“Father built this place with his hands. I am not different in this. It will be my castle in every way I desire it to be. I will design it to my specifications just as Father had done.”
Inuyasha didn’t know that.
“Most Lords have their servants do this.”
Sesshoumaru frowned.
“I do not trust servants to do anything correctly. I trust very few Inuyasha. I need no one to help me when I am more than capable of doing things by myself. I have done so for years.”
Inuyasha at that moment then realized that he and Sesshoumaru were not that different.
“So you will have your Mother’s assistance for what then?”
Sesshoumaru bit off another piece of jerky.
“They will create the terra cotta tile shingles, than bring back our Father’s tapestries and other decorative items that once graced this palace. They will also bring more lumber. I will build this place to rival both Mother’s and Father’s empires. It will be a monolith to our names and will cultivate all of our inheritance into something more than just a home.”
Inuyasha looked at his fingers. He had no acid to help, but he did have other abilities.
“Can I help?”
Sesshoumaru smiled a bit and ran his fingers over Inuyasha’s cheek.
“You have done enough. You are bearing my legacy. Now eat and we shall bathe ourselves. It is late in the day.”

Chise and Fusao finally had their army together along with a witch named Kamarasui who knew the subjugation spells that Akio used to bind the two Inu brothers. Other than a barrier, nothing was stopping them from attacking the Inu’s as they held camp outside of the large barrier that Sesshoumaru had set up.
“How long do we wait?”
Fusao asked Chise. He wanted revenge for their comrades.
“Soon enough Fusao. Have some patience. Eventually the elder brother will have to come out of the barrier. They cannot stay in there forever especially since we have Sesshoumaru’s Mother.”
Fusao looked at the beautiful noble woman who sat regally frowning at everyone around her disgusted that she was caught. He could not help being enthralled with her. Her eldest looked so much like her it was uncanny.
“What are we going to do with her?”
Fusao asked looking at the woman with longing in his eyes. She was exquisite.
“She is unmated, do whatever you please with her Fusao I do not care. She is too old for the slave trades although her fur would bring a pretty penny to our profits.”
Chise stated dismissing the woman.
Luna sat wanting to weep at her situation, but she was a noble woman. She refused to cry or show emotions to these heathens. They did not deserve to live and if her Sesshoumaru found out about her situation they would all die. Especially that Kamarasui person. She would be the first to die.
Looking at her claws Luna thought about rending off these weak creature’s heads. If she was not caught off guard they would never have taken her alive. Luna was not as strong as her son or her late husband. However she was also no weak little thing although she seemed dainty and petite.
“My Lady, it pains me to see you this way. Is there nothing I can do for you?”
Luna’s loyal servant Mimiko stated softly as she sat in chains. All the servants were to be sold off and those that were killed were already skinned with the long Inu furs piled high. Many had escaped, but not the ladies maids who protected Luna although there was not much they could do since they too were tiny Inu females just coming into their powers.
“Nothing is needed that my Sesshoumaru cannot provide.”
Looking at the Meidou Seiki stone around her neck she could hear Togaou roaring wanting to be set free to protect his wife. Luna knew the man was foolish, but he was now just irritating her to no end since how could a dead man protect anyone?
“Be silent. You can do nothing for me Togaou.”
Luna scolded her husband who was still arguing that he would rip the foes apart.
“Woman I will find a way even if I have to climb through hell itself to save you.”
“Hn…..I am sure you will try.”
Luna stated feeling slightly amused and disappointed. Had the man had one ounce of sanity left he would not have left her in the first place. They both loved each other, but dogs tend to wander and did not mate only one. Izayoi was bound to happen, but did the man have to fall for a human and then go die for her? It was insulting and disgraceful. There were other concubines he could have gone to and Luna could have understood that. However, going to a human was like going to one of these cats. What a disgusting proposal.
“Excuse me my Lady……”
Fusao stated bowing before the woman. His eyes never leaving her face as he brazenly gave her the once over. Luna felt self conscious and wanted to cringe, but the royal blood in her veins told her not to do anything foolish.
“I have lodgings for you. You must come with me.”
Luna wanted to run, to scream, and to throw as many rocks as she could at the cat, but instead she just followed him.
“This collar, is it really necessary?”
Luna stated angrily and Fusao bid her into his private chambers ordering no others follow.
“It is indeed. You would run from us otherwise and I will not have such disobedience.”
Luna frowned as Fusao licked his lips looking at the lovely creature he would ravish once she knew her place.
“You will remain here until I return. If you move the collar will strike you down so I suggest you behave yourself my Lady.”
Fusao put up the barrier as he left contemplating on what to do next.
Luna pulled at her collar, but it was not moving so with a sigh she sat awaiting her fate.
Sesshoumaru looked down at Inuyasha and then straight ahead as Inuyasha continued cleaning another room of the castle.
