Chap 16 – Searching …
(Back with Sesshoumaru) -
Under a moonless sky,
Sesshoumaru and Jaken are on their journey, trying to
find any hint to Inuyasha’s whereabouts. They have been on that journey for a
couple of days.
Not far from where Sesshoumaru
and Jaken were, there was another youkai lost in
thoughts. Dark and risky thoughts. The second
detachment of Naraku, Kagura, the Wind Sorceress, with her large red eyes was
flying in her feather-like-flying boat high in the dark sky. She was disgusted
and upset with everything she and the others were forced to endure, see and do.
Kagura had never wanted to be with Naraku. From the moment she was ‘expelled’ from
his body, she had decided to be free as the air and run away from him and his
sick mind. She always had been concerned about her life, because Naraku was
getting sicker by the day. And soon his new plaything, Inuyasha, would be disposed
of or die and then she and Kanna would be at his mercy again.
Kagura stared up at the almost vanished
moon and wondered about the whole situation. How Naraku had total power over
her and all the others. She had nowhere else to run. But she would find a way
to run and be free; she would be free as the wind she mastered. But at that
moment, she was just flying around to relax. She was not really paying
attention to anything.
Suddenly she realized that Naraku’s
barrier was getting weaker. ‘Maybe now is
a good time to run away…’ She got excited and she was thinking that she wouldn’t
have to return to Naraku’s side anymore when her feather began to fly in the opposite
direction from Naraku’s castle. She decided to test the power of the barrier.

Sitting down by the river, Kagura
was happy that she didn’t have to be by Naraku’s side at that time. She could
run away because the barrier was weaker. But something made her sad and
worried. Not long before Naraku joined the Hyounekozuko-youkai
clan, Naraku demonstrated for her his power. She had disobeyed him and he
punished her. She could still remember
that Naraku had held something in his hand, a jewel
perhaps, and he was holding it tightly; it was as if he was squeezing her heart
instead of the jewel and he had harmed her so much that way.
reminded her that her life was in his hands so she never would or could disobey
him. He could kill her anytime he wanted. He had told her to never forget that,
she was always a part of him.
Kagura got really frustrated
with that thought. She could only lie down thinking that her foolish dream of running
away from him and his clawed hands was just that, a dream. A very deceived one.
She closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them again she saw a
shooting star. She stood up and blinked, trying to focus the image and it had changed
to the image of Sesshoumaru coming down the hill towards the place where she
was. At first, she only thought in protect herself and flee from him, but then Kagura
thought of an evil way to get herself free.

hair-- he could be the one Inuyasha calls “Goshujin-sama”,
will he be Sesshoumaru? If he is the one-- I could give to this powerful
Kagura wondered while admiring the impressive creature. “Sesshoumaru could kill Naraku,” she thought.

and he also realized that there was an odd presence nearby. That was when a
huge gust of wind blew and Kagura landed almost in front of Sesshoumaru.
“Konbanwa,” Kagura said in a
mix of excitement and overconfidence.
“Who are you?”
“I am Kagura, the Wind Sorceress.
Are you Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha’s previous master? And why are you here; are you looking
for Naraku?” she asked, totally ignoring the jumpy Jaken.
Sesshoumaru touched the hilt of
Toukijin, and got ready to fight. Kagura, in a fast
movement backwards, told him that she was not there to fight but to make a proposal
to him. Sesshoumaru stared back at her.
“A proposal?” he asked.
She smirked when she saw his
hand leaving the hilt of his sword and in a calm voice to please him, she said,
“I will give you the right location of Inuyasha and Naraku if you free me from
Naraku’s hold.”

made many indignant and surprised sounds and motions. Sesshoumaru just glared at
her; he did not say anything. Kagura then asked him for the second time. “If I
tell you where they are, would you do it?”
“Are you telling me that you
want to betray Naraku?” was his only reply.
Kagura broke her eye contact
with him and stared at the ground saying, “Heh, it’s
not like I enjoyed obeying him to begin with.”
with a smile asking, “Will you do it?
Sesshoumaru stared at her
coldly. “I have no interest in working with or for you and if you want to
defeat Naraku-- you should do it yourself.”
Kagura got mad at that and in an
angry voice she provoked Sesshoumaru. “That is why you have taken this long to
rescue the poor hanyou. You are afraid of Naraku!”
Sesshoumaru, who was also
getting angry, replied, but in a calm voice. “I have no obligation in explain
my acts to you and I see no necessity to rescue you.” Kagura looked at him, as if
she would explode with rage… Sesshoumaru
then added “And if you are not prepared to do it yourself, you should not think
about betraying him.”
Now Kagura got really upset and
shouted, “I hope Inuyasha can run away from Naraku, and from you,
that you dare call yourself a powerful Inu-youkai.”
Jake’s jaw dropped down.
“Humph, it seems I have
misjudged you.” Kagura pulled out her feather more fiercely than usual and flew
off, calling Sesshoumaru an asshole.

why have you allowed that being to treat you that way?
Why haven’t you simply destroyed her?” Jaken said
while he watched Kagura leaving their company. “Well, what else we should have
expected coming from a youkai who is a Naraku’s minion?”
Sesshoumaru did not say
anything he just looked up to the sky wondering why Kagura would want to betray
and defeat Naraku. He also kept track of her scent.

Naraku was in his hideous true
form. Kanna was until now with him; she was still naked and holding up her
mirror showing Kagura betraying or at least trying to betray him.
“Kukuku…
Kagura, Kagura, its useless to try to run away from me…” He said and squeezed
something in his hand.
Kagura, who was in her feather
flying, was also fuming with rage at Sesshoumaru, which was when she felt an
enormous pain as if her heart was being squeezed. And then the pain spread all through
her body and she could hear Naraku’s voice ordering her to return to the
castle. She got really desperate because her feather changed direction by
itself, and she was being led back to the castle.
She soon was back to the castle
and with tremulous steps she walked through the hallway. She slowly went through
the way leading to Naraku’s room.

Kagura had barely entered the
room when one of Naraku’s tentacles grabbed her by the neck and dragged her to
him. “Kanna, show to Kagura what we were seeing previously,”
Naraku said, smirking and staring at Kagura.
Kanna only held her mirror in
the direction of Kagura and all of Kagura’s images
since she felt the weakness of the barrier were shown to her through the
mirror. Kagura struggled to get free.
“Did you have fun outside?” Naraku,
smirking, asked her
Only at that moment did Kagura
realize that Naraku was in his true form, and she was completely shocked and terrified.
Kagura could only wonder in disgust and fear to herself, ‘Is this body all the demons that he was made from?’
Naraku, with accusing eyes,
asked her, “Did you leave while I was resting?” Naraku’s tentacles started to
tear apart Kagura’s clothes and spread her legs. She
was held up even tighter and two tentacles were deeply inserted in her, while
she was forced into facing Naraku. Kagura was in pain and terrified. Naraku,
with condemning eyes, glowing and pulsing body inner parts, asked her if she
would like to return to his body. Kagura, crying, promised that she would never
again betray him. Naraku got angrier and said, thrusting his tentacles
violently into her, “humph, do you think you will get a second chance?”
Kagura fainted in pain. Naraku
kept on thrusting till he climaxed, then tossed Kagura’s
unconscious body at a far wall and went back to his futon to sleep.
“You are lucky Kagura, I am too
tired to deal with you right now,” he said with a sleepy voice, closing his
eyes. “Kanna, you can leave and take her with you, if I woke up with her in
here I would certainly absorb her.”
“Hai,
Naraku.” Kanna said and left with an unconscious Kagura.

Later, even in pain and still
terrified, Kagura realized that her dream of escaping Naraku has been shattered
for the moment. She thought of Inuyasha and his condition and pleaded to the poor
hanyou to stay alive a little bit longer, seeing as
he was her best chance. ‘I know that Sesshoumaru
will come to rescue him and probably he will kill Naraku and the others in the process,’she
thought while she tried to rest and cease her agony at least a little while.
