Sesshoumaru had had it. Enough was enough. Kouga was going to die along with all the other fools who kept trying to force themselves on them to try to find ways to mate his wife. Just because Inuyasha had the litter didn’t mean he was to mate anyone else. It had already been written in proclamations that he was not only to be mated for life to his beloved brother, but that they had wed as husband and wife. It was a holy union that the two shared that was written in stone and therefore they agreed to be loyal to one another for all eternity.
“I don’t care Inuyasha. You are too kind hearted, I am not. I have had it with the wolf. He is going to die today if he comes near our castle along with the simpering fools who keep trying to bait me and bribe me for you.”
Inuyasha was trying to convince Sesshoumaru not to kill the idiot wolf. Why wouldn’t the jerk just back off? Inuyasha wanted to talk to him to straighten all of this out, but he wasn’t allowed to go anywhere near any of these Lords.
“Sesshoumaru you are just being possessive and I can’t just hide forever. You have to let me out of the castle sometimes. The kids can’t be cooped up forever either.”
Inuyasha stated as he waited for little Sango, Kagome, Rin, Akinori, Fuu, and Hana to awaken from their slumber. He missed his babies although Sesshoumaru tried to remind Inuyasha that Parents who were noblemen did not raise their own children. They knew them, just like Mother would know them, but they were to be spoiled from a distance. Inuyasha refused to live like that. His children would have him around all the time if he had his way.
Of course Sesshoumaru was constantly hypocritical in what he said verses what he did. The new Father could be found in the nursery with his paperwork waiting for his babes to wake so he too could play and coddle them.
“Can I ask you something Sesshoumaru? Why didn’t you have to cut me open like Grandfather Arashi did with Grandpa Yoshiro?”
Sesshoumaru shrugged.
“We can consult the book on that matter. Perhaps it is different for every male who has your ability Inuyasha. You are a different hanyou than Grandfather being born of a different Mother so perhaps since you look so much like your Mother some of the more feminine aspects are more prevalent. You recall in the book that Grandfather Yoshiro looked more like his Father. We both on the other hand look like our Mothers more than Father although we both do have some of his characteristics. My voice is more like his and your demon markings are much more like Father’s markings. We both can wield his swords and we have both surpassed him in power.”
Inuyasha thought about that. It made sense. Perhaps they could consult the book later. Right now he just wanted to be with his pups.
“Inuyasha we should work on your studies. If we are to rule together and you wish to dress as a male you must take on the responsibilities of your title otherwise you will have to dress as before and that means you take on the wifely duties as Lady of the Manor where you will spend hours with the servants, noblewomen, and learn the female arts of embroidery and serving tea.”
Sesshoumaru smirked at Inuyasha’s reaction as the pup looked completely shocked and offended.
“No, I can study more. I want to be treated as a Lord, not a Lady. I had enough of that crap.”
Sesshoumaru nodded and handed Inuyasha some papers.
“I need you to sign. Do you know how to write?”
Inuyasha shook his head no.
“Then I shall teach you.”
Sesshoumaru practiced with Inuyasha all afternoon until he had at least his name figured out. Then the pups were brought into the study.
“Hello my babies.”
The puppies all wagged their little tails and rushed towards Mommy. They finally had their eyes open and it had only been a few days. Demon pups development was fast though.
“Mommy, mommy, mommy…..”
The puppies barked.
“Ohhh…..come to Mommy….how are my good babies?”
Inuyasha cooed as he nuzzled all his babies who were jumping up on their Mother. Sesshoumaru watched this with amusement.
“Are you sure you don’t wish to be the Lady of the Manor Inuyasha? You would have more time with the pups if you were.”
Inuyasha frowned. He really did want more time with the pups, but he also wanted to be treated like a man.
“Can’t I do both as a Lord? Can’t I be the Lord of the Manor with you and still have time with the little ones?”
Sesshoumaru picked up two of the pups growling at the others to calm themselves.
“We will figure something out Inuyasha. A Mother has more time with her pups where as a Father must provide for his family. It is my duty to protect and provide for you all. It is a heavy burden although I too would like more of my time to be spent with the family. That is why I moved some of my paperwork to the nursery. We can do that together, but as for surveying the lands the pups are too little to go with us. We must do that a few times a month.”
Inuyasha placed all the puppies around him except for Akinori and Fuu since Sesshoumaru had those two.
“Now my son settle yourself down.”
Akinori was chewing on his Father’s long hair as Fuu cuddled up into his mokomoko to fall asleep again. She had been the last runt born of the litter and Sesshoumaru favored her above the others since she was so tiny.
“When do they change forms Sesshoumaru?”
Inuyasha loved their little puppy fluffy babies, but he wanted those little arms around him soon.
“In four weeks. Right now they need this form for the growth process. Do not be concerned. The babes will be newborns for quite some time. 100 years from now they will become toddlers and that will last for about fifty years. At 200 we will be looking at six young men and women. They won’t be considered full adults until age 250. Even then they will be young so I am holding out on arranging mates until they are 350. We have to pick mates from allied kingdoms for our children for their first mate Inuyasha. That is what we will be working on and that is what all this paperwork is for. It is just the initial birth certificates you signed, but I have to inform the other Lords of their birth so they can prepare their younglings to meet their future mates.”
Inuyasha didn’t even want to think of his babies being old enough to mate.
“Why can’t they just fall in love?”
Sesshoumaru looked at Inuyasha’s worried face as the pups fell asleep around their parents cuddling close for warmth.
“It is only the first mating Inuyasha. If it doesn’t work out all they do is produce a child and move on to find a more suitable mate.”
Inuyasha frowned.
“That seems cold blooded to me.”
Sesshoumaru smiled at Inuyasha.
“It is, but it has to be done. Father would have set you up like he and Mother did to me if he was still alive. I am pretty certain that if you were older you Mother would have done the same to you. It is part of being part of a royal family.”
Inuyasha looked at their pups.
“But they are so young, do we really have to do this now?”
Sesshoumaru nodded to his mate and lifting the pups he moved everyone around so he could be next to his mate.
“Inuyasha I know this is hard for you, but part of the showing is to meet the young men and woman who will be a part of our family. I may……no I hate Kouga, but he is to send some of his younglings of his own blood to our home. The Lords will be here and we will have to be….hospitable.”
Sesshoumaru looked stressed and angry. He wanted to kill them all, but he wasn’t allowed to. Mother would have a fit if he killed the whole court.
“So just don’t be yourself and you will be fine. I will punch anyone out who tries to touch me or push their stupid ideas on us. We pick the ones we like and then send everyone home right?”
Inuyasha looked at Sess who was a little less stressed.
“Yes, thank you. I am glad you will be with me. I am most likely going to be by your side the whole event……”
The maids came to gather the pups. As Inuyasha went to protest Mother arrived with all of the Lords of the land including Kouga.
“Well, as you males can see my sons are still mated. Now if any of you cause a problem during the showing I give my son Sesshoumaru permission to maim you. Inuyasha will be treated with respect and care. You are only to bring your children, your best behavior, and if one of you mentions mating my baby boy I will personally have you escorted out of the room with your children as an unsuitable match. In fact I might kill you myself if you fail to comply by the rules.”
With that Louna left the Lords with a smirking Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha.
