Chapter Sixteen

She was lost again.

Rin turned around in a circle looking both ways, but there was no one in the unfamiliar hallway. How could this happen, one minute she was with Kagome and Inuyasha the next she was alone. They were trying to retrace her steps, while Miroku and Sango searched the places they knew she had been. She could always try sniffing out the pool again. Or find the kitchen where they were supposed to meet up.

She might as well keep looking for her locket, Rin decided a couple minutes later, and hopefully end up somewhere familiar.

As she walked Rin scanned the spiral pattern carpet. Seconds later she came upon a door, in her fanatic moment to find someone on new years she opened several doors. She remembered she never took more then three steps inside so it might be just lying on the floor.

She opened it. Excepting to find the locket laid out as if it was on display in a jewelry store. However, there was only shell white carpet.

“Girl! Don’t you have manners?”

Rin snapped her head up at the tone.

She immediately felt her body freeze, yet her heart accelerated. She had opened the door to a large office. A rectangle table placed in the middle and about a foot away on the right a two seat couch. At the back a desk with an array of papers, files and a sliver laptop on it, behind it stood Sesshoumaru.

“You!” The voice said in recognition.

Rin’s eyes followed the same tone of voice to Jaken; he stood beside the desk his beady eyes wide as he spoke.

“Of course it’s you insolent girl! Always barging in on matters that don’t concern you!”

“Come in,” said Sesshoumaru, his voice was strong, deep, a command and she did as told without thinking.

“What! But-” Jaken tried to protest.

“Jaken!” Sesshoumaru thundered, looking at him.

The short man immediately closed his thin lips.

“Go retrieve it.”

“Yes, yes, right away!”

Rin wonder what she was supposed to do, she stopped at the middle of the table as Jaken scurried by. She heard the door shut.

They’re alone! What she should do?

Hey, you have manners don’t you. Quit ogling the man, even if it is completely warranted. Her inner voice shouted it.

But he looks very annoyed.

And you want to annoy him more by just staring.

Good point.

“I’m sorry for just coming in, without knocking,” Rin tried to explain, “I got lost while looking for my locket when I was here on New Years.”

“You were supposed to relieve the Meidou Zangetsuha budget, however I was told your laptop was unsuitable for the task. So you relieve one that will,” Sesshoumaru said discarding what she said. Going back to what he was doing.

“Okay,” Rin said feeling herself pout.

She sat down on the couch to wait for the ‘better laptop.’

See I knew he was annoyed.

Yes, but you had a reason for looking at him, answered her inner voice.

Rin stared at her hands, then up across the room to the wall. Well maybe she’ll ask him how to get to the kitchen, after she gets the laptop. Taking a deep breath Rin closed her eyes, she felt hopeless. For some reason in his presence, or being somewhere near she couldn’t do anytime right. First she gets lost, then spills wine on him, walk in on him while he was changing his shirt, gets lost again, and walks in on him for a second time, however Rin didn’t mess up on the accountant work. Maybe that will make up for it, and as long as she did a good, then hopefully she won’t be annoying. She opened her eyes just in time to see a small oval pendent drop in front of her face.

My locket.

She followed the sliver chain it hung from up to the person who held it, Sesshoumaru.

Rin wordless held up her palm, letting the necklace fill her hand as he let go of the chain. She immediately turned it on its side revealing the seam. Wedging her thumbnails in between she opened it splitting the oval in half, inside were two small pictures. Her eyes welled up in tears seeing that they were okay she could view them clearly.

“Thank you!” she said to Sesshoumaru, however, had already gone back to his desk sitting down. She stood up, going to stand in front. He didn’t look at her, but continued review whatever was on the screen.

Holding the open locket toward him, she pointed to the right photo, “My dad,” A forty something male with brushy curly brown hair, hazel eyes that looked to be sparkling, a sharp nose, his lips stretched wide in a grin and laugh lines that help push his cheeks up. “And my brother,” she pointed to the left. He was younger version of his father looking alike in every way except the close cut style of his hair.

Rin closed the locket and clasped it behind her neck, “Their gone now,” she turned around walking slowly back to the couch, “First dad, then my brother, he was hit by a drunken driver. He spent five days in the hospital, before he was gone.” Sitting on the couch, staring at her hands, “It’s odd too, because they died on the same month on the same day, only a year apart. Then, there was the fire that took away our house and everything inside.” She picked up the locket gazing at it. “These are the only pictures I have of them, that’s what they are special to me.” Rin let go of her treasure it dropped to her chest. “My mom started the fire. She was sad. It was at night the fire alarm woke me up. There was a lot of smoke, but I found mother in the living room sitting on the floor between the sofa and coffee table. On it were scattered photos of our family. She just sat with pictures in her hands staring at the fire consuming the walls around her and crawling on the floor. Mom didn’t answer me when I called out to her. And she didn’t seem to know who I was when I stood in front of her. I shook her shoulder then finally she look at me; however her eyes did not recognize me for a moment. I know why, but it’s okay. We were able to get out with the help from some firefighters. The neighbors called.”

-

“I’ve learned something from our two hour search of investigating the floor at eye level,” Miroku rolling his neck.

“And what’s that” Sango asked.

They were in the kitchen, having searched every inch of their assigned areas, but came up with nothing. Sango stood in the middle near the island stove, while Miroku at he entry way.

“It’s a wonder that one would think that Inuyasha lives here, because of how clean it is compared to his bedroom.”

“I do clean it!” said Inuyasha as he smacked Miroku upside his head as he entered the area.

“Argh! I’m still injured here.”

“Did you find it?” Asked Sango.

“No.” Answered Kagome following Inuyasha inside.

The four best friends since preteen years gathered around the stove.

“I’m starting to think the necklace is a myth,” said Miroku.

“What? You said you saw it,” Kagome said.

“I’ve had too many injuries, my memory has been blacking out lately.” He grabbed his cranium.

Suddenly Inuyasha erupted laughing, Kagome tried to hid her laugher, but her shaking shoulders gave it away. Sango folded her arms over her chest smile.

“Have you guys seen, Rin,” Kagome asked once they calmed down, “Somehow we got separated.”

“No, didn’t she come into the pool or rec room,” said Miroku.

“Or on the way here,” said Sango.

Absently Inuyasha thought, at least she didn’t end up in the pool again. Looking at the entrance he saw Jaken walk by, something in his hands.

“Hey toad,” he ran out into the hallway and grabbed the bolding man’s skull to stop him.

“Whoa! Let me go!” Cried Jaken.

“Shut up with the yelling,” he came to stand in front of him.

“I’m busy go away!”

“No way baldie,” smacked patch of skin on top of Jaken’s head, “We’re looking for Rin, have you seen her”

“That rude girl has no manners!”

“So you have seen her,” said Kagome she as came into the hallway with the others, “We’ll get her off your hands if you tell us where she is.”

“The girl barged into the lord’s study.”

“Sesshoumaru! What is she doing there,” wondered Inuyasha.

Jaken using the distraction scurried away.

“There he goes,” Sango pointed.

“After him!”

-

Leaning back into the couch, Rin wondered why she said all that. She didn’t look over to Sesshoumaru to see if he was listening, what does a person say to someone’s life story? Rin hadn’t heard the sounds of keys being pressed on the laptop for a while. Maybe she should say something else.

Then suddenly she heard the door, she looked in time to see Jaken shut it with a bang. His green suit was disheveled and what was else of his hair was messy. Rin thought, who has no manners now.

“You! Girl,” Jaken ran over to her, “here,” he shoved the laptop into her hands, “The Meidou Zangetsuha budget project is already on it, further assignments will load later, also on it, instructions to how send the complete work is there.”

She barely understood what he was saying, when Jaken grabbed her shoulder pulling her to her feet. Then started pushing her towards the door, he opened it shoving her out into the hallway and slam it shut.

“Rin” she heard her name, “Hey.”

The group ran up to her.

“What were you going in there,” demanded Inuyasha.

“My locket was in there,” she answered.

“So you found it,” said Kagome.

“Yep! Thanks for helping me guys.”

“Was Sesshoumaru in there?” asked Inuyasha.

“Guys, I need to sit down my head is dizzy.” Miroku said.

They looked over to Miroku he stood holding his head against the wall.

-

The master bed room was cast in the crescent glow of the moon as it spread from the window, across the bed and ending scaling up the wall. Where moments ago two shadows delved into each other repeatedly, rubbing and licking. The quick shifting of their bodies created the thick atmosphere of sweat and sex.

Naraku sat naked against the head board with Kikyo on top still inside her; she rested her head on his collarbone. He listened to her trying to catch her breath.

“Where is Rin,” he asked.

Kikyo moaned lifting her head to look at him in the eye. Her face glistened with sweat in the moonlight, black hair matted to her forehead, her dark eyes grazed over in satisfaction and her lips were swollen red. “She called from school saying she’ll be home at 6:30, 7 o’clock.”

He looked over to the clock on the nightstand, it read 6:02. He grabbed her waist and lifted her off his lap; Kikyo fell beside him on the bed she turned onto her side as Naraku got out of the bed.

“Stay inside until dinner,” he said as put on black slants and a black dress shirt that were first taken off at the beginning of their fuck feast.

“Okay,” she exhaled, stretching out her arm she patted the mattress feeling for the blanket. However in the massive humping the cloth was thrown from the bed. Naraku found it and tossed it to her before leaving the room.

Going down stairs into the living room, he sat in the middle of the couch as the front door opened.

It was Yura.

“Hey I got more of the stuff,” said she closing the door. She held up a small elliptical glass bottle between her index finger and thumb.

“Don’t give her anymore.”

“Why,” Yura question stepping into the area.

“Giving her anymore will begin to damage her system.”

“But there isn’t another to awaken the dormant gene; she can get a little sick for all I care.”

“She’s already awake.”

“What are you talking about she has little flashes of feeling the youki, but nothing more then that.”

Naraku settled back into the cushion before answering.

“The only time when she has those flashes is when she’s in distress.”

“Ohhh…” Her mouth formed a circle. Yura glanced around the room for a moment then at the bottle, before looking back at her father. “Can I do it?”

“No, go make dinner.” Naraku ended the discussion.

“You’re no fun,” Yura said leaving going into the kitchen, “And I’m not cooking, I’ll order take out or something.

Rin was smiling as Sango parked the car in front of her house. She had her locket back, her family and doing work for Sesshoumaru. Now what she wanted was to see her mother, smile.

“Thanks for the ride,” Rin said as she gathered up her things and made sure her coat was fasten for the short trek to the house.

“No problem, remember to be online tonight.”

“Okay, see ya,” Rin open the door and got out.

Cold, she shivered as she closed the door, making her way to the house. She pulled the keys from her coat pocket, hearing Sango’s car drive away. At the door she unlocked it going inside, and closing it behind her. The living room was dark, but light spilled from the kitchen entry way. Through it wasn’t enough to illumination inside, to the living room. She took off her coat and out it along with the bags in the closest. Going into living area she found the light switch and flipped it on. The area immediately brighten,” Naraku,” Rin gasped.

He sat on the couch like he was resting, his cloths were unusually wrinkled. From the way he was sitting he seemed to be relaxed, but his eyes were alert. He didn’t even blink when the light came on like she had his eyes just bored into her.

“Come here, Rin.”

No stay away.

“I would like to see my mother first, if that is okay,” she answered not moving, her hand still on the light switch.

“She’s resting until dinner, you’ll see her then.”

He wouldn’t let her find an excuse to get away.

“Mom’s sleeping in the middle of the day, who’s making dinner then,” Rin asked, not shifting an inch further into the room.

“Yura is,” he replied.

“Yura!” she was surprised, “We are probably going to be eating poison. She can’t cook.”

Naraku smirked saying, “Ordered it really.”

“Oh,” Rin said relieved, “that’s good.”

“Come here, Rin.”

No

She looked at the short path she’ll have to follow in order to stand near him.

Four step forward to get to the coffee table dividing the room with the TV on the right and the couch on left. Either path will take the same amount of steps to the soda on the back wall to Naraku.

No

But she did walking to him, passing between the TV and the table stopping at the arm rest. He narrowed his eyes at her; he was an arms length away.

She hoped it was close enough, “Did you want something?”

He leaned forward, “Yes.” He grabbed her arm yanking her towards him.

Rin gave a short scream as she stumble falling across his lap. Her chest fell onto his knee forcing the remainder of the air from her lungs. She felt her wrist collected together in one of his, pulling them hard behind her back.

“Get up,” he said in a low tone full of malice.

“What,” she gasped out.

It was difficult for her to take in air, because his other knee was jutting into her stomach.

“I will not repeat myself.”

She felt his grip on her wrist tighten grinding skin and bone against each other. It caused pain throughout her forearms. Breathing heavily she tucked her chin into her chest, using her forehead as a leverage to help pick up her hips to scoot her knees under her body. Taking air in through her mouth, she pick up her torso Naraku pulled on her arms helping her straighten up right.

“Let me go!” She cried out struggling.

Naraku yanked down on her arms, snapping her shoulder’s blades onto each other, her head snapped back looking up at the ceiling.

Mom

Shhh…

Rin heard a counteracting voice in her mind.

Do you want to keep that smile as wide as a water melon slice on your mother’s face? Her happiness is yours isn’t it? Remember.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she felt his hand grab her left thigh pulling it across his lap putting it on the outside of his leg. She sat straddling him.

“There is something I need from you, but first you’re going to learn a lesson.”

-

In the kitchen Yura listened to little sis whimpers, as she pulled plates from the cabinet. She didn’t believe Naraku, saying that little sis was awake only the sensing the youki, but she could do much more. She was also pissed that she couldn’t get on the action, messing with little sis was her favorite pass times.

The food she ordered was Italian parmesan pasta; she had a taste for some spaghetti. She told them to deliver it to the back door, couldn’t disturb her father. The pungent scent of fear rose high and thick enough to travel throughout the first floor. And every few seconds little cries come from living room. Each time one rang out she felt herself get hot; she really wanted to be in there. After getting knives and forks from the drawer, Yura took them along with the dishes to the dinette table. Setting out the dishes and silverware two plates on the other side so she could look little sis in the eye at dinner.

“Oh god.” Yura moaned hearing an almost loud scream, her hand laid flat on the wooden surface. To have a face to go with the sound she would be in ecstasy. Naraku is having all the fun. Straighten up her body was increasing hot. She needed to fuck something fast.

The delivery guy, the thought popped into her mind. The person will be here, they could do a quickie in the truck. Through she hesitated a moment before going out from the kitchen door. At the beginning little sis thought about calling out for her mother, she delved into her mind reminding her about the happiness shit. Yura was pretty sure she wouldn’t have to do it again, reminding her once kept the girl obedient for the time being.

-

Her breath came in and out with short quick stutters. She felt her tears steam out of her eyes across the bridge of her nose to drip down to the carpet. Rin laid flat face down, between the table and television. The corners of her vision darken over; the table leg looked to be growing a sibling. Her head like felt it’s been bashed into knuckles repeatedly. Her right arm was twisted up behind her back, throbbing amounts of pain streamed throughout her shoulder. Sucking in the merger amounts of air caused her ribs to ache in steady pulses.

“Do you understand?” She heard his voice.

It sounded so far away, but she knew he was close. It hurt so much, she felt her conscious slip.

Mom

-

Grinning Yura enter house carrying a large white bag. The deliver guy was a girl, but she had no problem with that. Setting the food on the table she listened.

No more little sis squeaks?

Going into the living room, she found Naraku standing over an unconscious Rin.

“Did it work?” She asked.

“Get her ready for dinner,” he answered without looking at her.

Yura watched as he left going up stairs.

Take that as a no.

Yura reached inside her pocket taking out the small bottle.

-

“Hey, hey,” Rin heard a voice; it was soft soothing and familiar.

But she didn’t want to wake up, because she felt it. It hurts.

“Come on get up,” said the voice trying to coat her into the waking world.

Then, she felt a soft touch rubbing her head.

Mom

Rin opened her eyes to see Yura.

“Sorry not her,” Yura sang out, “I knew you wouldn’t come out of dreamland if I didn’t.”

It took her a moment to realize where she was, Rin laid across Yura’s lap in the living room.

“It’s about time for dinner, get up, family meal you know Kikyo likes that.”

Rin felt her body move automatically to sit up, “Ah….ah…ahhhh.” She cried out, feeling pain bounce from the back of her head, her shoulder when she used her arm to help get up. There was rippling agony on her left side of the ribs she wanted to sit for a few moments. Stay still to let the pain resend, but Yura wouldn’t allow it.

“Don’t be worthless Rin,” Yura said standing up behind her.

Yura grabbed her right shoulder pulling her to stand up.

“Ah!” Rin cried.

“Oops! You’re a noisy one little sis, push come to shove you fall right down,” Yura help her balance standing on her feet.

“And you know that’s a very delectable thing about you.”

Rin heard her, but the words didn’t register in her mind.

“Come on dinner time.” Yura said in a voice that sounded like mother.

“Stop that.” She gasped out.

“Hm, you like to ruin everyone’s fun, but for now I will if you hurry up. I’m hungry and I know you are. I heard your stomach while I waking you up, you probably couldn’t feel it through.”

Was she? Rin couldn’t tell the hunger pain from the other spiking agony as they made their way into the kitchen to the dinette area.

Yura sat her down at the table, a plate full of pasta and red sauce presented in front. She was going to have to use her left hand Rin realized.

Mom

Yura sat beside her; she immediately picked up fork and began eating.

“Starting without us.”

The two girls looked to see Naraku and Kikyo entering the kitchen.

“You two must be hungry,” her mother smiled coming to sit in the chair across her daughter.

“I had a taste for something pasta,” said Yura twisting more spaghetti into the fork. Everyone began eating like nothing had happen, but something had. She kept her head down as she ate spooning food into her month. Tears welled into her eyes, as long as her mother smiles its okay.

“It’s a good time to say this now,” Naraku announced about a few minutes later. Rin blinked back her tears as best she could, before looking up; however she could feel her throat trembling ready to cry out.

Everyone waited as Naraku dug something out of his packet. It was small enough to fit in the palm of his hand, presenting her mother with a small black box. She heard her mother chirp in excitement, smiling.

The cry was bubbling in her throat and the clear liquid lined the edges of her eyes.

He opened the box, inside a diamond ring.

Her mother cried out smiling before Naraku could say the words.

And Rin couldn’t hold back anymore, tears ran down her cheeks as the sob burst from her mouth.

There another chapter after a long wait. I’m sorry.
It was my first semester in college and the first time was overwhelming. I was rushing around so much that I didn’t have time, because I didn’t have things to together and assignments piled up. I let the work pile up on me. Then break came and I got a bit depressed, because the holidays sucked for me. So that was further not in the mood to anything.
Finally about a week before the second semester start I got the urge to write again. So I wrote it out, then type it up and was still a bit unhappy.
I did the same thing I was complaining about in the last chapter beat around the bush.
So I had to rewrite. Which it meant I took a really long time.
So come on Review please I have to get this right!!!

Plus, I will update better I got the second semester planned out. Now all I need to do is follow it. I think I can.

Review!!!

Til later
