“Having a pure Inu before having other children with my mate is vital to our kingdom. It is my position, not my beliefs. Politics can be cruel and prejudices do not die with a legend.”

Inuyasha looked at Sesshoumaru confused, but basically understood that demons and humans were still bastards when it came to hanyous so it wasn’t anything new.

“So we would have put our hate aside eventually and you would have mated me?”

Sesshoumaru frowned.

“Inuyasha as much as I love you I still harbor anger and I doubt it would have been any different than it is now. You still resent many things I have done to you and I feel the same. It will take time for old wounds to heal. I still haven’t forgiven Father and that was over 250 years ago.”

Inuyasha thought he was one to hold a grudge, but his brother made him seem like a lightweight when it came to hating people.

“So you still hate me too.”

Sesshoumaru looked away.

“In some ways yes, but they are not things that you can change. They are in the past so eventually I will overcome them. I have done so as of late. You are not responsible for Father.”

Inuyasha nodded.

“Well don’t feel too bad. I hate a lot of things about you too, but they are things I kind of already got over once you mated me. This mating thing is weird.”

Sesshoumaru just sat wondering why he didn’t feel like letting go of his anger as Inuyasha had done. Perhaps it was only a benefit of the beta. It didn’t matter though, part of him loved Inuyasha now and that was what mattered.

“I agree.”

Sesshoumaru stated softly as he lay back relaxing placing an arm protectively around his mate.

“Do you regret mating me?”
