Family reunion
Chapter 15:
Sesshomaru headed towards the castle entrance, but was stopped when several blades of shining energy shot forth from the entance. Withdrawing Tokijin, he parried this attack easily, before sniffing to see who it was that was trying to ambush him. When he caught the particular scent, he let a small smile grace his features.
"Kagura, come to die so soon at my hands have you?" he taunted her as the wind witch emerged from the castle, her fan open, ready to do battle with the dog demon.
"Hmph, Sesshomaru. We'll see who it is that dies here today." replied Kagura, before launching another one of her 'dance of the blades' attacks. This time he not only repelled the attack, but countered with a blast of energy from tokijin that ripped several holes into her fabric kimono.
"Not bad, not bad at all I must admit. Now die....Dance of the dragon." yelled Kagura as she unleashed her most formidable attack, several several twisters arcing out towards the dog demon.
"You are out of your mind if you think that puny attack will work on me...Dragon Strike." countered Sesshomaru, holding Tokijin level as the blue arcs of energy transformed into a lethal attack wave that broke apart the dance of the dragon attack move and headed straight towards Kagura.
Sesshomaru was suprised when the wind witch not only didn't try to dodge, but also smiled as well. His suprise gave way to understanding when the wind witch suddenly turned around, revealing Kanna behind her, the void demon using her mirror to reflect his own move straight back at him.
The lord of the Western lands braced himself, but if it wasn't for Tensiega, he probably would have been killed when he was hit with the reversal of the dragon strike. Instead Sesshomaru was thrown backwards into the wall, falling knocked out to the ground below, his armour cracked and his shirt sizzling with the heated energy of the attack wave.
Satisfied with their work, Kagura ignored his form and turned to Kanna.
"Kanna, I want you to go take care of Kagome. I'll find and rid ourselves of that annoying wretch called Kikyo." said Kagura. The two of them moved off to perform their duties.

Inuyasha, Shippou, and Kikyo bounded over the wall and landed inside the courtyard where the battle had taken place earlier. There they found Miroku finishing bandaging Sango. The monk looked up at them as they arrived.
"Shippou, hurry and take Sango someplace safe, away from here." ordered Miroku, as he picked up the demonslayer. The little kitsune transformed into his balloon shape, and Sango was placed atop it by Miroku. Wishing them luck, Shippou floated away from the castle.
"Miroku, what happened here?" asked Inuyasha as he took in several particular scents.
"Me and Sango were ambushed by a small army conscripted by Naraku. We were outnumbered, but were saved by the intervention of Sesshomaru and Kagome. I stayed behind to tend to Sango's wounds while those two took off after Naraku." reported the monk as he stood up and straightened his robes.
"Inuyasha, so glad to see that you could make it." came a very familiar and kid like voice from near the castle. When the three of them turned their heads, they saw Hakudoshi standing near the entrance to the castle, Kagura and Kohaku both standing behind his barrier, ready to fight.
"Hakudoshi." Inuyasha hissed in response.
"Now then, Inuyasha, we have some unfinished buisness to settle." said the kid as the trademark pike of his formed in his hand. The two of them charged one another, their weapons meeting in a clash of steel as they parried back and forth.
Kohaku attacked Miroku with his scythe, causing the monk to dodge and avoid using his wind tunnel. Instead he elected to fight the youth with his staff, hoping to knock some sense into the little kid that he should not be helping Naraku with his schemes.
That left Kagura and Kikyo to once again duel.

Kagome turned the corner in the hallway inside the castle, and started going from room to room. She opened one door to reveal Souta sitting in the corner, crying in his knees as he was curled up.
Giving out a small whimper, Kagome caught his attention as she ran into the cell.
"Souta! Thank goodness your all right." exclaimed Kagome as she ran to her little brother and wrapped him up in a ferocious hug.
"Kagome! Am I glad to see you. I don't know what they did with mom and grandpa, I haven't seen them for a while." said the little boy, crying even harder now as he returned his sister's hug.
Kagome pulled her brother into her lap, before picking him up and turning to leave the cell. As she did so, she saw a small and familiar figure standing there with her mirror trained right on her.
"Kanna.." Kagome hissed as she set her brother down. She remembered the last time that she had dueled with the void girl and it was not a pleasent experience.
"Although I cannot absorb your entire soul Kagome, I shall be able to weaken you to the point where you will be helpess against Naraku." informed the little girl in her usual emotionless voice.
She raised her mirror, and Kagome gasped as she began to glow, with her soul being sucked into the mirror. Collapsing to her knees, she withdrew her bow and arrow and aimed right at the mirror, and the little void kid's heart beyond that.
"Your arrow will only be absorbed by the mirror." Kanna added as she watched her victim being weakned by the power of the little mirror.
"I don't think so. This time, you will be the target." declared Kagome as she notched the arrow and let it fly.
With the short distance involved, the arrow traveled only a very short distance, and yet while it was in flight, Kanna was suprised when a green whip came from her right and knocked the mirror from her hands, sending it crashing and shattering against a wall.
Kanna barely had time to glance over at Sesshomaru in suprise before she was hit dead on by the arrow, the little void child being purified in an instant.
Kagome sighed as her entire soul was returned to her, then looked back at Souta who was hiding behind her from the void demon. Then she turned around and looked up as Sesshomaru staggered into the room, looking very battle worn.
"Sesshomaru, are you all right?" inquired Kagome. He looked to be pretty badly wounded.
"I'll be fine Kagome. You found one of your missing blood relatives?" he brushed aside her concern and looked to the little boy that was cowering behind her.
"Oh, yes. Souta, I'd like you to meet Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's older brother. He's here to help rescue you and the others." said Kagome as she got to her feet and beckoned for her kid brother to do the same.
With one member of her family found alive and intact, that just left two more. With Sesshomaru taking point, and Kagome holding her brother's hand as she walked behind him, the three of them set off to finish a much needed reunion.
