Together and finally whole

Kagome stood up tears in her eyes. She walked to Inuyasha holding him closely as the asai crest befell her forehead due to them being mated. Sesshomaru passed the child to Rin who was now jumping up and down trying to see the baby better. Inuyasha had a family now, he would be ruling part of the kingdom in two years time because Sesshomaru wouldn’t produce a heir that quickly. There was only one person he cared for and she was the little girl who was now holding Kin. She was not yet old enough and wouldn’t be old enough for a few years. Everyone was happy, even the demon lord seemed to smile at every movement the infant made.

“I must go and walk the lands. I shall walk with you to the village, there is demon near there I wish to show the mark you now bear. Let him see that his is not to harm my family or he will surely die…Rin give the child back to Kagome”

“Thank you… In allowing us to bear this mark you are somehow protecting my family. Maybe I wont get kidnapped so often!”

Rin giggled.

“Except by maybe my lord.”

Sesshomaru actually blushed at that statement. Rin was the only one that had ever forced him to show emotion without even trying to.

“Yes, again I apologize for that.”

“Don’t be sorry. I would have never allowed you to hold him. You did what you had to and it isn’t like you hurt Kagome or Kin. You haven’t done anything wrong.”

“Thank you Inuyasha. What of the fox? You have adopted him correct?”

“Yeah, he is just as much our son as Kin. Why?”

“It seems I have one more crest to pass on then.”

Kagome smiled. He was accepting everyone. She wondered though what brought on the change.

“Sesshomaru… why?”

He paused and turned to face Kagome.

“Because my father would want it that way. And Rin… if when she comes to age we… I’ll have to accept them. I did this hoping Inuyasha would not hold a grudge and would teach me all that he’s gone through in not having a proper older brother or father. In doing so, I would have a pup of half breed with open arms. And I would also be prepared to protect them from any type of threat to them.”

Kagome smiled and looked towards the girl who had now stopped in front of them picking flowers. Inuyasha scowled. He didn’t like reliving his past. He was hoping now that he had a family he would be able to. But he knew he would explain everything to his brother. To save his nephew the pain that he went through. He walked to Kagome and took Kin from her giving her arms a rest.

“Thanks, I‘m so tired…”

Sesshomaru picked her up like she was a feather. She smiled at him making him smile back the best that he could remember how.

“Then how about a lift? You only just had the child. You really should not be walking. Promise me when we reach the village you will rest for the remainder of the day.”

“Promise. But not until I feed Kin.”

“I’d object but he must receive nourishment. May I also ask a favor of you?”

“Sure….”

“Take care of Rin for a few days?”

“No! Rin wants to stay with his lord!”

“Rin it is too dangerous this time. Many demons will attack me and I do not wish them to harm you. This way you shall get to help with the pup as well…”

Rin paused. She had wanted badly to stay with the baby longer. But she wanted to stay with his lord as well…

“Rin will help Kagome…”

“Very good. Inuyasha?”

“Hai?”

“You will have to join me and establish your ranking among demons…”

“How long?”

“Three days. At most four.”

Inuyasha growled but he knew it was necessary.

“I have to ask the houshi to seal off the house to demons… Shippo will have to either stay in the house or at Miroku’s… maybe at Kagome’s mother‘s… After I set up the arrangements yes. You will have to stay in the village for a few hours though.”

“Agreed. Do not let the demon slayer or the houshi try to kill me though. I grow weary of blocking them.”

Kagome giggled again. He was so proper, so different from his brother. Maybe it was because the way he was raised by his father. Or the fact that he was a full demon. No one could ever tell why. Kagome relaxed and soon she had fallen asleep in the demon lord’s arms with her arms wrapped around his neck.

“Brother. She has fallen asleep.”

“Good. She needs rest. I’ve been trying to get her asleep all day. Thanks…”

“For what? This Sesshomaru did nothing but walk?”

“You wore her out with everything you have done. And the way you walk sways like being rocked, it helped her relax and sleep.”

Sesshomaru looked confused.

“Here watch.”

Inuyasha rocked the child in his arms and moments later the waking infant had fallen deep asleep.

“It works every time.”

“I see.”

He looked towards Rin who was running about.

“Do you think it would work on her?”

“Hmmm, probably.”

“This Sesshomaru shall keep that in mind.”

They soon got to the village and were met by the rest of the group. Sango and the monk would have surely attacked if they had not seen the sleeping priestess in his arms.

“What happened?”

“She fell asleep…”

“NO! I MEAN WHO KIDNAPPED HER?! AND WHY ARE YOU HOLDING HER!?”

“I was the one who took her… as for why I’m holding her, Inuyasha had his arms full with the child and the priestess was very tired so this Sesshomaru carried her. Also this Sesshomaru is sorry for the worry I have caused by my actions.”

“Why did you take her and the child?”

“This is why.”

Inuyasha approached him showing the monk and demon slayer the marks that his family bared now. They stood shocked but understood. Shippo and Souta then came running.

“Momma! Kin!”

“SIS!”

“Children, please show me where the room is that she resides. She is asleep and I’m sure she would be more comfortable in a bed then in my arms”

“Ummm… Papa?”

“Do what he says. Souta can you take Kin to his crib as well?”

“Sure…”

Souta took the child and walked towards the house he then laid the infant in his crib and walked back outside. Shippo took Sesshomaru too Kagome’s room where he laid her down and then Shippo finally saw the crest on her head.

“You accepted Inuyasha and Kin….”

“Yes young one… you as well. Approach me.”

“K?”

“I am sorry this might sting.”

He lifted his claw and carved the symbol for the last time. The young kit’s mark came to a dark green color.

“We are now family. Unquestionable to the demon race. Take care of the family, they come first always.”

“I understand….”

They turned and closed the door to the sleeping mother and child.
