Chapter Thirteen

The only ones left in the apartment was Kurama, Hiei and Shiori. His mother refused to leave the place for severals reasons. Koenma had dropped off a box with books, informing them of their origin. When the woman found out the the two girls were coming back to stay until they figured out what was going on she was outraged. She wouldn't allow the two girls to stay in a place unchaperoned with two men.

Kurama was trying to persuad her to go home, "Mother, we have no intention of taking advantage of them."

"Hn. It's not like it would do any good." Hiei snorted. "If case you didn't hear earlier they have a thing for each other." That was the most polite way he knew how to state it.

"Well," She seemed shocked for several minutes. "It still isn't proper."

"Are you going to stop those two from having sex?"

"Hiei." Kurama scolded him. "Don't talk that way." Not in front of his mother at least. He had to admit he was disappointed that the girl was already taken. By another female to make matters worse. He knew he was attracted to her. "Where will you sleep if you stay, I was planning on sharing my bed with Hiei. The couch isn't big enough for both of us."

"I'll take the couch, don't worry about me. Besides I rather like both girls, it will give me a chance to get to know them." She was glad that it was settled. It would also give her to know her son as his other persona. "I'm going to make some dinner, now that everything is returning to normal."

Kagome knocked on the door, she starting feeling nervous all of a sudden. She didn't want the fire youkai hitting on her, Sango had been seeing something that wasn't there. The girl had probably been thinking about doing it to the red head. 'I don't want anyone who hardly says anything besides a grunt. Unless he grunts like that in bed. Wait were the hell did that thought come from?' The door opened.

Shiori greeted the girls, "Come in, dinner is almost done. Don't you two worry I'll be staying to make sure nothing happens." She waved them inside.

"Okay, thanks I guess." Kagome walked inside, she smiled at the woman. She felt Sango relax behind her. "Something smells good."

"Come eat. Shuichi and Hiei are already at the table." She took their bags.

Kagome just shrugged her shoulder. She went to the kitchen to find both men sitting at the table eating. They looked up as they entered. Kurama smiled, Hiei just stared.

Sango decided to put her weapons up, she turned around and walked down the hall leaving Kagome alone. She found Shiori coming out of a room. "Mind if I stick this in there?"

"Oh forgot about that. How do you carry that big thing around, isn't it heavy?"

"Not really. I've been using it for years." She walked into the room, it was nice. Hard to imagine it was in a man's place. The carpet was a rose color, the walls a soft red. "Nice." She placed the weapon in the corner and the sword on the bed.

"I want to thank you." Shiori came up and grabbed her hands. "It helped."

"Your welcome."

Kurama cleared his throat from the doorway. "Mother, sorry to interrupt but I wanted to ask her if she wanted me to fix her a plate also."

"That's okay, I'll do it." Shiori left the room heading for the kitchen.

Sango suddenly got nervous being left alone with the man. What was wrong with her? It usually didn't bother her to be around males. Miroku had never made her feel like this. He didn't say anything at first he just stared at her.

"I guess I should thank you as well. For whatever you said to her." He walked into the room.

"It was nothing. She would have accepted things, whatever those things are. It's obvious she loves you." She placed her hands behind her back so he wouldn't see her fidgeting. Her breath caught when he stopped in front of her. His hand came up and grabbed a strand of her hair.

He let the strand slide through his fingers. So much like her, he let the strand lose. "Mind if I ask how old you are?"

"Twenty, why?"

"Curious, you remind me of someone I once knew." He let the hair drop, she may remind him of her. But she wasn't Kaede. "Come, dinner is waiting."

Sango followed him into the kitchen, Shiori had her a place fixed already. She sat down next to Kagome and ate in silence.

Kagome was shown to the box Koenma had left for her. She groaned when she saw nothing but books placed inside. She had hated school, she didn't want to see a bunch of books. "What are these?"

"Koenma said he didn't know." Kurama informed her.

"Great. What the hell am I suppose to do with them? Wipe my ass?"

"He said they were once owned by a miko, they were confiscated over eight centuries ago. There is some kind of seal protecting them so no one in his staff could get into them. He was hoping you could." He sat down on the couch. "Hiei and I already tried to open them up. Needless to say we couldn't."

She picked up the book on top, her hand opened the cover. "It's open see." She looked at the writing on the first page. "What the hell kind of language is this?"

Sango took the book from her and started reading outloud. "It's some kind of premanition. What about the others?" She handed the now open book to Kurama.

He glanced inside flipping through the pages. He wasn't sure what disturbed him more; the fact that Kagome had been able to break the spell that had kept them shut with just a touch of her hand or that Sango was able to read a language that hadn't been used in over four hundred years. "I'll go through this one, Hiei would you like to help?"

"I'll pass, reading isn't my thing."

Kagome grabbed the next, "I'll just open them, you two can read them."

"Fine, hand me one." Sango took the book she was offered and sat down on the couch next to the fox. It was going to be a long night.
