Set me free

Part 14

Inuyasha was the first to
wake up the next morning. He opened his eyes and saw Ayame’s and Shippou’s
sleeping faces and he smiled before kissing them both on their foreheads before
he got up to make something out of those dried herbs he found last night. He got
the fire going again and he warmed a pot of water and added the dried herbs into
the hot water. It seemed liked the herbs had been well protected within the
walls of magic. He even found some rice he still could use and boil. Soon the
cave was filled with a spicy scent and it awoke his mand tnd their son.

Good morning Ayame, Shippou-chan, he said and watched them
rub the sleep from their eyes.

-         

Good morning Inuyasha, said Ayame with a big yawn, flashing
her fangs.

-         

I trust you have slept well Shippou-chan?

-         

 Mmm, this was a good charm-tiger, smiled the little kitsune
and hugged the little stuffed tiger.

I know, Tora keeps all bad dreams away, nodded Inuyasha and
gave them a bowl of herbal soup and some rice.

Ayame smiled and wondered
if Inuyasha had cuddled with the tiger when he was young and then she nodded to
her self, he probably had done just that.

A few hours later they
were back on their hunt for the Thunder Brothers’. Like yesterday, Inuyasha
carried both Ayame and Shippou on his back, and of course, little Tora was with
them too. Shippou had the toy in a tight grip and Ayame was wondering if there
was anything in this world that could get the kitsune to loosen his grip on the
tiger.

Inuyasha stopped for a
second and sniffed the air. Something was not right. His ears perked up and his
keen hearing picked up a battle somewhere.

Otousan, I smell blood of humans, whispered Shippou.

-         

Me too kid, said Inuyasha and rushed towards the vile stench.

He sat down right before
they reached the edge of the forest and both Ayame and Inuyasha stared at the
odd scene that was displayed before their eyes. Inuyasha held Shippou close to
his chest, hiding his vision from the blood bath in the field.
