(A/n: Yay for review reply time!!!! Hey all, I’m back and, no I am not dead!!! Though you could tell, lol. Anyway, review reply time! All of the reviews make me so, so happy!!!!
Inuyashalover: OMG! ANOTHER REVIEW IN ALL CAPS! YAY!!!!! XD I absolutely love your reviews and I’m glad you’re enjoying the story!!!! And a lemon will SOON be coming!!!!! SOON!!! Promise!!!! And when it does, you SO won’t be disappointed! (I hope!!!)
Ai: I actually have always been interested in the culture of Japan, like LONG before I got into anime/manga and such! Heck, if anything, anime and manga made me even more curious about it! I’m glad you liked it and hope whenever I reference Japanese culture, I’m always accurate about it! And Kikyou’s fate is still up there in the air, so who knows what’s gonna happen with people betraying other people, you know??? And as far as Tales of a Youkai Frat, Inuyasha has no redeeming qualities…I love him being so sadistic. I LOVE a dark Inuyasha, but who knows what’s gonna make him come around…? Can’t have a darkfic without a devious Inuyasha…!
Socalgal: I’m SO glad you like the story! And I am desperately lacking a beta, so even with spellcheck, I ALWAYS miss some of those typos! I’m SO sorry, I hope they aren’t that bad where it just makes you wanna stop reading! I’m definitely gonna be more careful!
Inuyashalover (again, lol!): HERE’S YOUR UPDATE!!! Wheeeee!!!!!
Alpine: Thanks so much!!!! I’m glad you’re enjoying it as well! I’ve always wanted to make the Inu cast ooc and still try and maintain their original personalities…I’m glad it works! Thanks again!
And I could have SWORN there was someone else who reviewed (either the reviews were deleted (not by me!!!) or something, but to that someone else, thanks SO much for the reviews! I’m glad you like it and it’s enough to make you constantly pause in between chapters to review! XD That makes me so happy! Seriously thanks so much! I’m glad you like it!!!!
And now, ON WITH THE SHOW! I’d like to thank Selina (for inspiring me to get my ass in motion. When she updates, I feel like…”tch, damn, I need to hurry up and get it in gear!!!”) and thanks for the reviewers who are always anticipating the next scene and inspire me to write more! Love, love, love all!!!!! OH! PPS: Because I had the worst time wording it, Kagura’s hairstyle isn’t her usual bun one, it’s when her hair is usually ‘messy’ and she has that long trail of wavy hair hanging from her slightly undone bun. Hope that makes sense! I like that hairstyle on Kagura!!!!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Brushing out her long, jet-black hair with slight traces of brown, she looked into the custom-made vanity mirror with the large, canopy bed, visible in the background of the mirror's reflection. She sighed before setting her brush down and turning her head to look out of the large, balcony doors across the enormous bedroom. It was raining and the wind seemed restless this morning. In her eyes, it was not a good sign. There was silence in the room, despite the two individuals that occupied the less-than-traditional, modern bedroom.
"You're quiet. Very unusual for you." the voice from the bed chuckled.
She turned her red eyes on the man lying in the king-sized canopy bed draped in black, silk sheets, with the sheer, black curtain pulled back from around the bed. She always admired the way his long, straight and flawless silver hair fanned out and contrasted the black sheets and pillow cases and his white Shikon Tama was almost impossible to see at other times, save for when he laid upon his bed of black silk. He was resting with his back against the headboard and his amber eyes focused solely on the woman who sat at the vanity. Her red, silk robe was hanging off of her shoulders slightly while she adjusted her naturally wavy hair. Her pale purple Shikon Tama hung from her left ear, more noticeable now, as she tucked a tuft of hair behind her ear. If he had any say on it, that red robe would be on the floor any second now and he could take her once more. With a conflicted smile of unease that she'd only let her lover see, she stood up and approached the bed, leaning against one of the massive posts. He was very appreciative of the view of her smooth, long legs, thanks to the robe cutting off around her thighs.
"The wind is uneasy, Sesshoumaru."
He extended his hand and she took it and crawled into bed. Sesshoumaru cradled his love to him, holding her tightly.
"Do you want to withdraw from this mission, Kagura?"
"Never. I'll do anything for Yukiryu. I just feel a slight unease..."
"Tell me it's not morning sickness." he chuckled.
She sat up and looked at him, putting her hand to his face. When he wasn't wearing his glasses, he was just as sexy. She gave him a small smile.
"No such luck, I'm afraid."
"Let's keep it that way. I'm not ready for a child yet."
"Right, we can't have the great Sesshoumaru give up his bachelor's lifestyle yet, can we?" she replied teasingly.
"I'm not ready to give up the lifestyle I share with you. Kagura..."
He put his hands on her cheeks gently and sighed. Kagura was his everything. Next to Rin, she was his greatest weakness, though he'd be damned before anyone knew that.
"Are you afraid of this mission? Really, you won't be there long--Just long enough to see if Kikyou is there and retrieve her."
"I know that, it's just..."
Sesshoumaru smirked and rested his forehead against hers. Kagura became slightly irritated.
"I understand--You don't wish to share that body of yours with anyone except for this Sesshoumaru."
"You never know. I may just find another man who can satisfy me better than this Sesshoumaru...What do you think, boss?" she teased in reply.
Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes and accepted her challenge, though, he doubt any man would be able to measure up to him. The shrill ring of Sesshoumaru's silver cellular phone broke the silence, save for the falling rain. With a slight groaned he answered the phone.
"Yes, this is Sesshoumaru."
Kagura couldn't help but grin slightly. He always sounded so professional, even when he was in the comfort of his own, very expensive, very luxurious penthouse apartment. Kagura's smile faded and she laid her head on his chest with a sigh. He was obviously talking to either Kagome or Kouga and since he was using a kinder tone, he assumed it was Kagome. Kagura would never admit this aloud or in Church or even in court, but she was almost envious of Kagome. Kagura had rode with Sesshoumaru the day Mizuryu had been attacked and watched from the black Cadillac as Sesshoumaru embraced a sobbing Kagome in front of the school's gates. While Kagome was a leader, Kagura sensed something in Kagome that just made people, men, more importantly, want to protect her. It might have also had something to do with the fact that she was Sou-Chan's kid sister. Kagura smiled slightly at the gentle memory of when she and Souta had first met. It was years ago in grade school when Kagura had been looking for Sesshoumaru to finally tell him how she'd felt. Instead, she found Souta ditching class on the roof. With a boyish grin, he promised Sesshoumaru would eventually show up if she waited with him. Kagura was suspicious, but she remembered seeing Sesshoumaru with the boy almost all the time. Kagura remembered sitting beside Souta and actually talking to him. After a while, Sesshoumaru had found them and before Kagura could say anything, Souta introduced Kagura as, "The girl who's always liked you!" Kagura blushed, even now, at the memory. Sesshoumaru didn't take her seriously at first, but perseverance and a few close calls with rival school members paid off. Sesshoumaru abruptly hung up the phone and kissed Kagura's head.
"It's time we left. That was Kagome...Everyone else has already arrived at Mizuryu for the debriefing."
"Alright..." Kagura's sigh held so much reluctance.
Kagura returned to the vanity to finish putting on her make-up, including her ruby-red eye shadow, and lip gloss, to match her new uniform she would be soon receiving. Finishing her hair, Kagura placed two, white feathers in the solitary bun atop of her head and reached for regular clothes, including a black skirt, a white blouse and a pair of black penny loafers to match her new uniform. She felt awkward not wearing the all white school uniform of Yukiryu, but she knew it would be some time before she'd wear that uniform. Sesshoumaru dressed in his school uniform, an all white ensemble, complete with his silver-rimmed, square glasses. Within less than half an hour, they were being chauffeured to Mizuryu High School. Kagura sighed heavily--Why did it have to rain that morning? Rain seemed like an overbearing foreshadowing of bad things to come. When they arrived at the school, the driver hurried and prepared a single umbrella for Sesshoumaru and Kagura, one large enough to keep them from any threatening rain. As the twosome walked into the school yard of Mizuryu, they were greeted by two female students, probably chosen by Kagome herself, to escort them to the computer lab. Kagura had to admit, she was slightly nervous, but she doubt it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. A question invaded her mind; one that she couldn't keep from exiting her mouth as they walked through the clean and pristine hallways...
"I'm still confused about how a freshman can become a leader. Normally, only leaders are seniors like..."
"Like myself, Sakurahime Kikyou, or, right now, Ookami Kouga, and Akuyoukai Naraku. Yes, I understand and it's been like that for a very long time. But, Kagura, I warn you,"
Kagura glared slightly up at Sesshoumaru who's look spoke volumes that he was both serious and he meant business.
"Kagome is young, but don't dare mistake her youth for ignorance. Besides, the one who passed the torch to Kagome Higurashi was her older brother and unless said otherwise, by way of being overthrown or the leader missing, the current leader has the power to appoint a new leader."
Kagura huffed slightly. She'd heard all sorts of things about Kagome, stuff that she wouldn't believe until she'd seen it with her own eyes. Kagome was way too young to be leader of a high school and that was that. The foursome arrived at the computer lab doors and ushered in Sesshoumaru and Kagura before taking their leave.
"Ah, Sesshoumaru-San! Welcome!"
Kagura eyed the girl who had offered the greeting. No doubt, she was Souta's sister. She could even pass for his twin. You know...if you put Souta in a light blue skirt, baggy white socks, a short-sleeve blouse and a blue sweater vest. Oh, and if he grew his hair out to practically past his shoulders. With excited brown eyes, Kagome bowed to both her and Sesshoumaru. Kagura cocked an eyebrow in slight confusion. What type of leader bowed to another leader? While Kagome bowed and thanked Sesshoumaru and Kagura for being here, Kagura scanned the room in one, fall swoop. There wasn’t anyone else in the room save for the three of them and two others—One girl, sporting long, light brown hair and soft, yet unusual lavender eyes, was sitting on a stool and had some strange wire connecting from her to the massive computer where a young man with bright orange hair was furiously typing away. Kagura wondered where the rest of her companions for this mission would be.
"Well, I'm very grateful for your help with this, Sesshoumaru-San." Kagome smiled happily.
"We're honored to help. Kagome-San, this is Kazetori Kagura. One of Yukiryu's finest."
Kagome bowed once more. This woman was beyond beautiful and strong air of sensuality and sexuality that was probably allowed her to mow down men by the dozens.
"I'm pleased to meet you, Kagura-San. Thank you for your help."
"I guess..." she gave a small pout that showed her indifference.
Sesshoumaru glared at her from a sideways glance, giving Kagome some sort of indication he either held a position of power above her, or that the warning glare meant something completely different. Kagura gave a small, indignant huff and bowed.
“It’s nice to meet you and I’m glad we can offer our services.”
A small, sardonic chuckle came from the direction of the computer. Kagura’s eyes blazed with slight irritation at the redhead who ceased typing only to stand up and walk over to them. Because he was always sitting down at the computer, Kagome often forgot that Shippo stood atleast six inches taller than she. He stood beside Kagome, eyed Sesshoumaru welcomingly and then cast a slight glance at Kagura.
“You could atleast show a little more respect in Kagome-Sama’s presence, Kagura-San.”
“Tch…!” Kagura began.
Kagome looked at Kagura, as if studying her. The Yukiryu diva obviously had something to say. Kagura turned her burning eyes upon Kagome and gave an irritated huff.
“Look, I just can’t quite wrap my mind around bowing to someone who is younger than me. I honestly find it hard to believe you’re Mizuryu’s new leader.” She replied coldly.
Sesshoumaru burned a hole into Kagura, but his girlfriend had an easier time ignoring him than wanting to meet his gaze. Kagome just gave a small, wispy smile.
“I guess I am a little young, aren’t I? But, I’d rather not let my age determine my strength. If you like, I can challenge you. Perhaps maybe then, I could earn your respect?”
Kagura seemed taken aback—not at Kagome’s issue of a fight, but at how modest she seemed. About her own fighting skills, nonetheless. Nevermind the fact Kagura felt insulted, because Kagome was also challenging her fighting skills.
“Kagura. We’re here on business. This can wait.”
“No, I’d like to see what she can do…”
“Try it, I dare you. You’ll end up just like I did—my ass handed to me and my pride busted.” A female voice replied.
Kagome looked around her visitors in favor of Sango who was standing at the door, dressed once again in her school uniform. The light blue mini-skirt was tighter on Sango than normal, emphasizing her amazing ass. Small wonder why Miroku could never seem to keep his hands away from it. Kagura turned and looked at the eye-patched girl. She had long, beautiful, dark-brown hair pulled into a ponytail, revealing her dark-pink Shikon Tama. She’d heard that the only female deva of Mizuryu’s Big Four had gotten into a fight with Kagome and lost. Badly. Very badly. Sango walked over to Kagome and bowed her head. It had been a while since Sango had been given the go-ahead to be in active duty. She was glad—she missed Mizuryu and it sure as hell missed her. Sango had never seen so many cards, boxes of candy, stuffed animals and various offers stuffed into her locker before. Except on Valentine’s day when she usually opened her locker stuffed to the brim with letters.
“Kohryu Sango, reporting in for activeduty, Kagome-Chan.”
“Sango…!” Kagome sighed in relief.
The four onlookers watched a very excited Kagome and Sango hug one another. Sure, Sango had been allowed to attend school, but she had specific doctor’s orders to not fight. Kagome and Sango were both glad that she could help out with this mission. Sango turned to look at Kagura and Sesshoumaru. Sesshoumaru had always been a handsome someone, so naturally, a small red stained her cheeks. She walked over to Sesshoumaru and bowed.
“It’s been a while…how have you been?”
“Well. I am glad to see you made a full recovery. Kagura,”
Kagura turned her attention from Sango to Sesshoumaru whose look brooked no disobedience.
“Kohryu here can attest to Kagome’s superior fighting prowess. It would be an unwise decision to challenge her, especially when you’re needed at your best for this operation. However, if you want to engage her, I’ll not stop you.”
Kagura glared at Sesshoumaru, then looked at Sango and Kagome. Sango stood close to Kagome, almost in a defensive way. Kagome didn’t look like much, but rational though constantly reminded Kagura that Kagome didn’t get to her position of power by being cute. It may have had something to do with Souta’s influence, but without a doubt, a tremor down Kagura’s spine let her know that Kagome could have taken Mizuryu easily, without it being ‘handed down’ to her.
“I just want to know that you have what it takes to protect Mizuryu. You’ll have my total respect if you can beat me.”
“Well, for now I guess I’ll have to have your partial respect. Seriously, we can’t stand here fighting for much longer, because we’ve got bigger fish to fry.”
Kagome turned away from Kagura and walked over to the computer. Shippo took his seat at the console once more and unplugged Saiyuri-X. She was full operational, functional and ready to work at maximum power. He was extremely nervous about sending Saiyuri-X on this dangerous mission, especially because all of Mizuryu’s information was stored inside of her mainframe. If someone accessed it, they’d be in a lot of trouble. Then again, Shippo knew it would take a genius to access, break into and override his superior and complex system. Saiyuri pinged and stood up next to Kagome. Kagome turned and looked at Kagura, who had little insight to what this human-looking computer actually was.
“Saiyuri-Chan will be accompanying you on your reconnaissance. She may not look it, but she is pretty much a super computer. She’ll be storing any data, and can access and hack into any computer. She’ll come in handy big time, especially because Shippo built her with a feature to similar to X-ray vision with a special, heat-seeking ability.”
“Translation, she can see through walls and tell if there is anything alive on the other side.” Shippo chuckled.
Sesshoumaru gave a nod. He didn’t actually think Shippo would part with his dearest computer. Shippo handed Saiyuri two cords and a small, round, silver mini-disk. He quickly explained to Kagura that one of the cords allowed her to plug into any data bank or computer and access or override the data, no matter how sophisticated the security was. The second was her charger cord, but because Saiyuri was at maximum efficiency, she shouldn’t need to be charged for almost two days.
“What about the third one?” Kagura asked.
Shippo went silent for a moment before providing her with an answer.
“This is Saiyuri’s ”666 Omega Failsafe”.
“The name sounds cool, but what does it do?” Sango asked, sitting on the top of a nearby desk.
Shippo’s gaze turned serious and Kagome knew Shippo was going to have an extremely hard time releasing Saiyuri into Houryu. Shippo crossed his arms over his chest and walked over to a window. It was still raining. The rain did nothing to alleviate his fears.
“The 666 Omega Failsafe is Saiyuri’s ‘last resort’. If she is ever captured by someone experienced enough to access her data files, or if someone means her physical body harm, that disk is to be inserted into her via the back of her neck. It will wipe her memory clean and transfer all of the files she contains onto to that one disk. Then…Saiyuri-X will cease to exist…”
Shippo gave a heavy sigh and closed his eyes, praying they wouldn’t need to use it.
“…and that includes her personality files and any personal memories obtained. Saiyuri-X will shut down permanently.”
The room was silent, with the exception of the rotating fans from the computers and the rain outside. They watched the life-size computer walk over to her creator, take his hand and smile up at him out of lavender eyes that held nothing short of adoration and love for him.
“Shippo-Dono…Please do not worry about me overmuch. I can promise that the probability of my safe return is high, but the expected odd of to use my 666 Omega Failsafe is extremely low.”
Shippo turned and put his hand to her face. Kagome and Sango, Kagura as well, even, were moved by Shippo kissing Saiyuri’s forehead. Kagura had to wonder if there were times Shippo forgot she was just a computer and not really ‘real’. Kagura thought it would be something very easy to forget, after all—Saiyuri looked just as human as any of them standing in the room. Sango gave a small sigh—she knew Shippo loved Saiyuri with all of his heart. He’d loved her since she was just a program on his old, outdated laptop. The day he was able to build her, Sango knew she’d never seen Shippo happier. Saiyuri-X had been his life for the past three years.
“She’ll be in good hands, Shippo, don’t worry. Honekou Kirara has a knowledge of technology that equals your own.” Kagome smiled softly,
“Is she another part of the team?” Sango asked.
“Mm-hmm. I’m not sure why she isn’t here yet, though. I know Inuyasha and Kouga went to meet Ayame at the train station and Miroku went to pick up Kirara.”
Sango ignored the strong ping of jealously trying to fuck with her mind and think that the reason Kirara was late was because of Miroku. Sango closed her eyes for a moment and let her mind drift back to the past few nights she’d spent in Miroku’s arms. Kagura took slight amusement in the serene look gracing Sango’s features. So, she had something for her fellow Deva, did she? Kagura found that interesting, especially considering that she’d heard Souta speak of her, and quite fondly at one point. Just as much as he spoke of Kikyou, but, then again, the rumor that he and Kikyou were dating had never been proven. Atleast, it had never been proven to her. Kagome walked over to Kagura, who had decided to take a seat on top of a nearby desk. In Kagome’s eyes, Kagura’s maturity and sexuality is what made her beautiful. Maybe that’s why she didn’t feel uneasy appointing Kagura leader of the mission.
“Kagura,”
“What?”
“As leader of this mission, I’ll need you to be the one to get closest to Naraku and any of his flunkies. Get as much information as you can, without blowing your cover. If you find where Kikyou is, send either Kirara or Ayame to report back here to us.”
“Are you seriously considering rescuing Kikyou yourself, Higurashi? Idiot, why would you do something so reckless?” Kagura asked, standing up.
“I…have my reasons.” Kagome sighed, turning her eyes to the floor.
Sango knew those reasons had to do with Kagome’s young nephew who had been left in Kagome’s care. No one knew if Kikyou was alive or dead, but right now, just knowing if Kikyou were safe or not was the only thing that concerned Kagome. Kagura went to ask a more personal question, only to be interrupted by Inuyasha announcing he and Kouga had returned—with Ayame, fortunately. Kagome was excited to see the youngest sibling that Inuyasha had spoken so little about. Before they’d gone to bed last night, Inuyasha let Kagome know that Ayame probably wasn’t aware of the relation between she, Kouga and Inuyasha, outside of being ‘cousins’. Kagome promised him she wouldn’t bring it up unless Ayame brought it up first. Kouga and Inuyasha entered the room first, and Kagome took notice of the large bag of food in his hands. Ayame followed behind them, a milkshake in her hand and her happily sucking up the vanilla-y goodness through the straw. She was sporting the Chikyuuryu high school uniform from head to toe. Though, with the two, long green ribbons in her beautiful, blazing red hair that held up her two, long pigtails and the traditional green sailor fuku, and that included the knee-length, green mini-skirt and bright, red sash draping between her clothed breasts, she looked more like a junior-high student. Ayame absolutely hated Chikyuuryu’s spring uniforms, especially because the stupid winter uniform had a much, much longer version of the drastically shortened mini she would have gladly worn in substitute for the long one covering her legs. It left little room for decent movement, especially when she was engaged in a fight. Even as she entered the computer room, her long skirt snagged on a corner of the door, causing her to almost trip. With a growl of slight annoyance, her ‘innocent’ appearance was quickly shattered when she turned her temper on Kouga.
“Brother! Why do I have to wear this long skirt?! I hate it!”
Kouga’s well of patience had been slowly running dry with this girl. He turned to face her and snapped back in retaliation. Something that was getting easier and easier to do whenever she opened her mouth.
“Because I won’t have you showing all that leg! Did you see how the perverts at the train station were looking at you?”
“Um, yeah, that’s because I look like a freakin nun in this long skirt! Come on! I look like a damn junior high student! That should bother you just a little bit more, dontcha think?!”
“No, you look like a respectable female student of Chikyuuryu High School. Kikyou has no problem wearing that uniform year round, even when you are allowed to wear that little short skirt!”
Ayame seethed and looked around the room for a quick moment before sweeping her hand out in front of her, indicating to Kouga the four girls in the room wearing extremely short skirts.
“They can wear them, why can’t I?!”
“She has a point, Kouga-Kun. Shorter skirts allow for better movement.” Sango stood up, pulling on the hemline of her blue skirt.
“Yeah, it also allows for this…!”
Kouga launched a roundhouse kick at Sango, which she quickly repelled with her own, and, just as he predicted, their legs met mid-air…exposing Sango’s white panties with a small, blue bow on the front to everyone. Kouga put his leg down and turned to look at Ayame.
“I don’t want some pervert looking at your panties or anything when you fight! Atleast if your skirt gets ripped, it doesn’t shred completely off your body like some of these mini skirts do!”
“Oh, come on!” Ayame growled.
Inuyasha ignored his siblings in favor of Kagome, who seemed reluctant to interject.
“Inuyasha, I’m glad you made it here.”
“Thanks, it definitely wasn’t easy.” He sighed, running his hand through his long, black hair.
“What do you mean?”
Inuyasha went on to explain that Kouga snapped at Ayame for rolling her already short summer skirt up whenever she did wear it, and would have preferred the long, green skirt that Kikyou usually wore that made her look so beautiful and mature. Ayame quickly replied to her brother that she wasn’t ‘his precious Kikyou’. Kouga replied that Ayame was, however, a ‘royal pain in the ass’ which prompted a near-brawl between the two on the train platform that forced Inuyasha to play mediator before Ayame threw Kouga in the way of an oncoming train. Inuyasha had to practically bribe Ayame to just wear the long, knee-length skirt, just to appease Kouga and so they could get to Mizuryu. Ayame named her price, much to Inuyasha’s upset. One trip to McDonalds and forty dollars poorer, they were finally en route to Mizuryu. Sango found sheer amusement in the story, especially seeing how the battle seemed to continue on between Ayame and Kouga over her choice of uniform.
“I swear to God, how the hell does a little girl like her eat almost thirty dollars in fast food?” he groaned, looking at his nearly-empty wallet.
“Well, at least you two made it here in one piece.” Kagome giggled.
Inuyasha just groaned and took a moment to look in Sesshoumaru’s direction. While he seemed to take dry amusement in the two siblings making a spectacle of themselves, his girlfriend’s attention was solely on Inuyasha. She stood up and approached him with a slight smirk.
“It’s been a while, Inuyasha.”
“Likewise. How ya been, Kagura?”
“Can’t complain.” She shrugged indifferently.
Inuyasha gave a nod and turned his attention to the ongoing verbal battle between Kouga and Ayame. He grit his teeth and stood up.
“Well, I sure as hell can. Hey, you two! Give it a fucking rest! Kouga, she’s wearing the damn long skirt! Drop it!”
“She brought it up!” he barked back at Inuyasha.
“Oh, yeah, real mature, Brother! Place the blame on the younger sister!” Ayame retaliated.
“Maybe if you’d quit bitching about the damn skirt in the first place…!!!” he turned, pressing his forehead against Ayame’s as the two locked off in a staring, growling contest.
“Um, excuse me, Ayame-San…” Kagome said.
Ayame looked away from Kouga for a moment to look at Kagome and her smile quickly brightened up. With one hand, she effortlessly pushed Kouga backwards and into a pile of desks.
Ayame walked up to Kagome and gave a bright, excited smile and took both of Kagome’s hands.
“Oh, wow! You’re Kagome-Chan, aren’t you? You’re just as pretty as Inuyasha said you were!”
Kagome blushed and Inuyasha turned his head with a huff, trying to hide his own embarrassment. Sesshoumaru, Shippo, and even Sango wondered why Ayame was so…familiar with Kagome. Sesshoumaru asked Ayame who she thought she was, showing Kagome such little respect like that, especially at their first meeting and given Ayame ignored her for the past fifteen minutes to engage in an asinine argument with Kouga. Ayame narrowed her blazing green eyes at him, a reply forming on her tongue that she didn’t even need to release Kagome’s hands to deliver.
“I’ll have you know, Kagome is going to be my sister-in-law. I don’t think it’s any of your damn business own how I address her.”
“What did you say, you little brat…?” Kagura quickly said, standing up.
“Ayame, Kagura, stop it!” Inuyasha sighed, finally stepping in, his patience waning.
While Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru mediated between the two, flaring tempers, Shippo’s eyes widened and he walked over to Ayame, pulling her back by her shoulder slightly.
“No! Kagura’s right—what did you just say, Ayame-San?”
“About Kagome being my sister-in-law?” Ayame quickly asked, looking into Shippo’s two, green eyes that just about matched her own.
“Yeah, that.” Shippo asked, unsure of the meaning.
“Kou-Chan told me that Inuyasha and Kagome are getting married. Which, is like, totally awesome because Kagome’s so cool! Taking over a school as quick as you have and doing such a nice thing for Kikyou? You’re amazing, Kagome-Chan!”
The room went silent and all eyes were on Kagome and Inuyasha, save for Sesshoumaru and Kouga, who already knew about the engagement. Sango and Shippo were in the same boat by the name of the “S.S. Confused As Fuck”. Sango could have sworn that Inuyasha would rather have a root canal than commit to one girl! Shippo’s thought pattern flowed in the same direction, only he was positive Inuyasha had broken off the engagement to Kagome.
“Wait, who’s getting married? Do my ears deceive me? Is it true that the infamous Inuyasha is finally settling down with Kagome Higurashi for a life of peace?”
“Miroku, shut the fuck up!” Inuyasha yelled at the direction of the door to the computer lab.
Kagome quickly turned her attention to the door where Miroku was standing with a lovely young girl standing beside her. Kagome naturally recognized the uniform—Kirara Honekou was a student of Mizuryu, after all. She spent so much time in the library and sewing club though, no one even knew she existed. She was such a quiet girl with eyes the color of Ayame’s flaming red hair and a very unique color of hair—Long, full, straight, and swinging almost past her spine, Kirara’s hair was of a soft, cream color, but outlined in a thick black, which Kagome assumed were the roots of her hair. Kagome honestly wondered how someone could have all that hair and not have it weigh them down, but to each her own. Kirara stuck close to Miroku—she didn’t know any of the other students in the room, save for Kagome who’d found her in the sewing club room. Miroku entered the classroom, arms spread wide in joy.
“Kagome, I’m glad for you! Many happy children!”
He wrapped his hands around his horribly embarrassed leader and kissed her forehead before looking at Inuyasha with a mischievous grin.
“Well, well, I guess living together has finally won you over. Tell me, Inuyasha…do you two sleep in the same futon already?”
Miroku quickly moved behind Kagome and wrapped his arms around her, much to Sango’s rage. Miroku embraced Kagome from behind and chuckled.
“How does it feel to hold one of the most powerful young girls in all of Japan so close to you at night and…”
“Hentai no baka!!!!”
Sensing danger, Kagome quickly jumped into the air and out of Miroku’s grasp—just as Sango planted her fist into the back of his head. Kagome landed gracefully beside Kirara who seemed surprised by the liveliness around her. Kouga was just recovering from Ayame pushing him into a pile of desks when the letch came flying at him, courtesy of Sango’s killer left hook. Once more, Kouga found himself piled beneath several desks as Miroku crashed head on into him. Kirara stifled a small gasp, startled further when she felt Sango’s hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t look too much into it. They both have pretty thick skulls.”
“I…I…see…”
All eyes turned to Kirara who really wasn’t used to the sudden attention. There were only three other people in the sewing club, and in the library, working on those computers, she found quiet and solace. She gave a small bow as Kagome introduced the shy girl to what would hopefully be her new group of friends.
“Everyone, this is Kirara. She’s the final girl on the three-woman reconnaissance team. Shippo,”
Kagome took Kirara’s hand and escorted her over to Shippo. Kirara looked at her brown penny loafers as Kagome introduced the twosome.
“Kirara, Shippo built the ‘computer’ you’ll be using. Promise to take great care of it?”
“H…hai…” Kirara nodded, still not looking at Shippo.
“Excuse me, Kirara-Sama?”
Kirara quickly looked up at that however. No one had ever used such respect for her before. Kirara looked into Saiyuri-X’s soft, lavender eyes and the humanoid computer smiled at her.
“My name is SX-20389, but you may call me Saiyuri. I will be assisting you and in your care, so I’ll do all I can to help.”
Kirara gave a shy little smile and nodded. It was then she noticed something in Saiyuri’s left eye, twinkling slightly. Wordlessly, Kirara took Saiyuri’s hand and sat her down near the computer. Shippo almost threw a fit when Saiyuri pulled out her own, pocket-sized tool kit containing a special electrical device used to tweak computers she worked on.
“What the hell do you think you’re about to do?!” Shippo raged.
Kirara tipped up Saiyuri’s head and gently put the small, electric screwdriver into her pupil. Those who’d momentarily forgot Saiyuri was a computer were horrified. A little spark came from Saiyuri’s eye and Kirara stepped back.
“How do you feel?”
Saiyuri blinked a few times and smiled happily.
“Wow! My vision circuits have just been enhanced by eighty-five percent!”
Shippo stood with his mouth agape. What exactly had Kirara done to her. Shippo walked over to Saiyuri and tipped her head up to look into Saiyuri’s brilliant lavender eyes, just as Kirara was putting her small tool kit back into her pocket. She looked down with a blush.
“I…um…I noticed…she had a loose…a loose hyperbyte in her eye…It was lowering the performance of her vision…and…that could have possibly had a negative effect on how she…visually records data…”
Shippo turned and looked at Kirara. Kagome just grinned slightly. Hopefully his opinion of the shy Kirara had been changed. Clearing her throat, Kagome finally called the meeting to order. It was a little after 8am or so. Kagura, Kirara and Ayame were expected at Houryu at ten. Just enough time to debrief them. Everyone sat down at, on top of desks as Kagome commanded the attention. She was officially in ‘Leader’ mode.
“Everyone, thank you for being here with us today. As you all know and understand, today’s mission is of great importance. Kikyou Sakurahime has gone missing and for the sake of everyone involved in this war, we have to find her! Saiyuri, if you don’t mind…”
Saiyuri closed her eyes and Shippo shut off the lights. The very center of the room turned into a hologram of the outline of Houryu high school when Saiyuri opened her eyes. The hologram showed the five-story school, layer by layer, including the large basement.
“Houryu High School is a modern marvel and their security goes past any of the schools involved. Everything is computer operated, and that goes for doors to the classrooms, elevators, and even libraries and such. Like I said, they choose not to screw around with small security details. This is where Saiyuri-X and Kirara come in.”
Saiyuri closed her eyes and shut off the projector. Miroku switched on the lights and gave Kagome back the spotlight. With complete optimism, she looked at Kirara, who, was actually looking at Shippo, albeit shyly. Kagome wondered if there could be a possible romance between them, but doubted it, especially with how Shippo felt about Saiyuri.
“Kirara, Saiyuri-X, you two will be the key to easy access to the entire school! In fact, that’ll be the first part of your mission! Saiyuri-X, you’ll need to find the main computer that has ALL of the information of Houryu, including Security Codes and Access Data. Once you have the information, download it into yourself discreetly. Kagura, as leader, I’ll need you to get close to either Naraku, or one of his flunkies, long enough to take their card, preferably Naraku, because he’d be the one with the Master Access Card. Kagura, once you have that one card, quickly report to Saiyuri-X and Kirara. Kirara, you’ll insert the card into Saiyuri-X, she’ll take all of the information and equally dispense them into three, brand new copy cards of the original Master Access Card, disguised as your initial school ID. After that, you should have access to any computer, room or what have you in Houryu.”
“Why don’t we just use the information Saiyuri has and report back here ASAP?” Ayame asked, raising her hand.
“It would be dangerous for Saiyuri to keep that information on her. No one is going to know that she is a computer, but, if worse comes to worse, they’d figure it out if something happened to her body that caused a more…’computerized’ behavior to appear.” The computer genius sighed.
Shippo turned to Kirara and handed her a second disk.
“Deposit the information from Saiyuri about Houryu onto this disk and return it to me as soon as possible. I’ll analyze everything I’ve found.”
“Hai…! I’ll do my best.”
“Good. Kagura, let me have that disk. I think it’ll be better for Kirara to hold onto anything related to Saiyuri, including the 666 Omega Failsafe.” Shippo said, looking at Sesshoumaru’s chosen one.
“Psh, knock yourself out. I’m not too good with technology anyway.”
She tossed the disk to Kirara who fumbled it several times before making it stable in her hands with a relieved sigh. Sesshoumaru cast a slight, irritated glance at Kagura as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Kagura…”
“What? I’m not good with techie stuff. Besides, my job is more…’human interface’ if you will.” She replied with a sultry lick of her lips.
Kagome gave a small nod, but Ayame was quick to voice her thoughts.
“Um…speaking of human interfacing…what should we do if like, one of the guys wants to…do things?”
“Aya, you’re a virgin, right?” Sango asked casually.
Ayame turned a shade of red brighter than her hair. She gave a quick nod, feeling Kouga and Inuyasha’s eyes on her.
“Y…yeah…”
Sango had her doubts, then again, she’d lie too if she had two of her older brothers watching her the way they were. Kagome thought about it for a moment and sighed.
“Without a doubt, if you get close to anyone at Houryu, you can’t give up your true identity! If you are intimate with someone, use that to get information! Kagura, is that what you want your job to be?”
“I’ll make any of the men at Houryu sing like canaries with this body.”
Kagura’s dark red eyes shone with wicked glee, and her lips turned upwards into a sultry smile. The men in the room felt it—the pull of her undeniable sexuality. Kagome was positive Kagura wouldn’t have a single problem getting close to Naraku in that respect. With a nod, Kagome balled up her fist and gave a smile.
“Alright! It’s showtime! Girls, before you leave, I’ll give you your new ID/Access Cards and your school uniforms. Sesshoumaru, where is…?”
“I’M HERE!!!” A cheery voice rang out.
That cheery voice made Inuyasha duck behind Kagome with pure fear. Rin opened the door with a brown bag in her hands. She looked sort of banged up, as if she’d just been in a fight!
“I’m so sorry I’m late!”
“Rin, what happened to you?” Kagura asked, starting to get defensive of the girl she’d come to see as a younger sister.
“Well, you wouldn’t believe it, but I lost one of the uniforms! I was trying to figure out what to do when this girl from Houryu walked right past me! So, I asked her nicely for her uniform, but she wouldn’t give it to me!” Rin pouted, holding the handles of the brown bag.
“And…?” Sesshoumaru asked cautiously.
“The hospital says she’ll be in a coma for a while! I was atleast nice enough to rush her to Tokyo General. Anyway, I have the uniforms!”
Rin pulled out the clean, wrapped uniforms and looked at the tag.
“Okay, I believe this one is miss Kohanaki.”
“Oh, that’s me!” Ayame said, quickly stepping forward and taking the red uniform.
“Wonderful. Let’s see, this is miss Honekou’s. Is that you?” Rin asked, looking at Kirara.
Kirara gave a small nod and accepted the uniform. Rin pulled another red uniform out of the bag and handed it to Saiyuri who thanked the young friend of Sesshoumaru gracefully. Shippo wasn’t sure his stomach could handle seeing Saiyuri in a uniform of their most hated rival school, but he knew he’d have to endure. Rin handed Kagura’s uniform to her, and Kagome instructed the girls to go and change. As Kagome and the others waited for the four spies to return, everyone talked amongst themselves about the success of the mission. Kagome, however, detached her thoughts and herself from the others and stood by the window, arms folded slightly over her chest with a sigh. Everything was working well, but there was still a matter of what her own role in all of this. Kagome felt a strong hand on her shoulder and saw Kouga looking at her as if he could read her thoughts. Kagome just offered him a small smile and placed her hand over his own.
“You seem…kinda troubled. Is it…?” Kouga asked softly.
“Yeah. I can’t shake this feeling that we’re…going to have to do what we talked about a little while ago, Kouga.”
While still standing behind her, Kouga wrapped both of his arms around Kagome tightly and sighed heavily.
“I don’t want to put you in any danger…”
“It’s alright. I’ll trust you and Inuyasha to get me out safely.” She replied with a smile.
While the words spoken between the two went unheard by the others, the scene itself was as clear as day. Inuyasha definitely couldn’t ignore that stab of jealously he felt at watching his brother embrace his fiancée as the two looked out of the window, watching the rain fall. For a moment, Inuyasha could swear he felt how his father did upon seeing Momoeiko and Ryokan together. Miroku glanced at Inuyasha, taking note of the slight jealousy building in his eyes. Sesshoumaru tried to act as if he hadn’t seen a thing, whereas Rin and Sango talked amongst themselves. Lowering her voice, Rin asked if there was anything between Kouga and Kagome.
“I’m…actually not sure. It’s as if they don’t know where standing right here.”
“Inuyasha-kun looks kind of angry, don’t you think?” Rin replied, casting a glance at Inuyasha.
Sango took solace in Inuyasha’s jealous—it meant that he really did have feelings for her. Nevermind the fact they never found out whether or not the engagement rumor was true or not. Kagura, Kirara, Ayame and Saiyuri-X reentered the classroom sometime later, all adorned in their respective Houryu uniforms, which consisted of a very short, pleated skirt—something that made Ayame happy to no end—a white, short-sleeve blouse and a large, red bow tie. Sesshoumaru eyed Kagura like water on a desert island—she wore the fuku skirt so well and the thigh-high black stockings clung to her long legs so well, it almost made him want to lose his cool and play up on the naughty student fantasy every male secretly had. The exception to the rule was the modestly-dressed Kirara—she opted for the long, knee-length red skirt and long-sleeve blouse, unlike her counterparts, who’d all opted for the mini skirt. Ayame grinned excited and spun around.
“See? This is SO much better! My legs actually have room to move!”
“Ayame…” Kouga growled.
Sensing another battle between the two, Kagome walked over to the girls. It was show time now.
“Now, you get to Houryu, you’ll be given your new ID/Access Cards and your new uniforms by Sesshoumaru, who will be escorting you there. Without a doubt, you’ll be shown around and such. Take the time to learn about different locations in the school and places that seem secretive. Saiyuri-X will be constantly relaying data via wireless connection to Shippo’s PDA. We’ll have inside pictures of Houryu, so we’ll be able to map it out a lot better. If Kikyou’s rescue is too much, Saiyuri, I’ll need you to atleast get the coordinates of where she’s being held.”
“Yes, Kagome-Sama!”
“Alright, ladies, we only have one, big chance at this! We can’t blow it!”
Kagome looked at the girls and bowed to them in the highest respect—surprising everyone.
“Thank you so much for all you’re doing for us. I wish you all the best of luck and the full support of Mizuryu and Yukiryu high school.”
Kagome stood up and extended her thumb with a wink.
“Now let’s get to it!”
