Together and finally whole

Shippo quietly opened the door to his adopted parents room. He smiled seeing that his parents were still asleep, that meant that he could steal a few minutes with his baby brother. He walked over to the crib and climb into it because he was still small enough to fit into one without breaking it. He sat down next to Kin and smiled as the baby stirred.

“I’ll teach you everything you’ll need to know. Anything you ever want to ask feel free brother.”

The baby still had his eyes closed but moved his head toward Shippo’s voice but a few seconds after he started to cry…. Loudly. Inuyasha woke with a jump which in turn woke up Kagome. She slowly got out of bed and walked over to the crib seeing Shippo in it as well.

“Shippo, why are you in the crib?”

“I wanted to talk to my brother by myself….. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make him cry momma”

“It’s alright he’s just hungry…”

Kagome picked him up and sat on the bed unbuttoning her shirt. As soon as she got settled she moved the baby towards her breast and he started feeding. He made sucking noises and every time Shippo giggled saying he makes funny noises. Inuyasha just smiled as he watched Kagome and his two sons.

“Inuyasha, can you take him while I go to the hot spring with Sango for a bath. I haven’t really washed and I feel gross.”

“No I don’t mind”

Inuyasha took Kin in his arms and kissed Kagome. She walked out of the house and headed to Sango’s. He watched them through the window walk to the hot springs.

“Shippo, go with them. Protect them for me, I’m worried.”

“Yes papa”

He ran happily out the door ready to join the women for a bath. By the time he got there they were already in the water.

“Shippo, what are you doing?”

“Papa told me to protect you! And I wanted a bath too!”

“Alright come on in.”

The girls made room for him and he immediately swam to Kagome and nuzzled into her.

“Momma?”

“Yes?”

“I love you….”

“I love you too honey.”

“Sango when we get out can I take Kirara to go play with Souta and me?”

“Sure… she’s been missing you guys playing any way.”

They bath for a while longer then Sango helped Kagome back to the house and Shippo and Souta went to play with Kirara. Today was going to be a good day…. They thought. They didn’t hear the demon lurking in the forest and inside the house Inuyasha could not yet smell him. He approached the house and burst open the door making Inuyasha jump and run to the door. Kagome was already in the room and still being in pain from birth couldn’t move to protect herself or the small boy she held in her arms. The demon picked up both Kagome and her child and ran out the door letting Inuyasha only hear Kagome’s screams in the distance.

“KAGOME!!!!!”

The boys playing heard the screams and came running only to see Inuyasha leaping into the forest.

“Momma…..”

“Sis….”

“Souta, we gotta get Miroku and Sango….”

“Right!”

The boys ran to the couple who were now running towards Inuyasha’s house.

“What happened?”

“A demon took Momma and Kin! Papa fallowed them into the forest.”

“Kirara! Lets go!”

Miroku and Sango leapt onto the demon who was full size now. They instructed the boys to go to Kaede’s and protect the village if it so needed to be. They too then went into the forest.

The demon arrived at his castle and gently set down Kagome. Finally letting her see his face.

“Sesshomaru?”

“Yes Lady Kagome… this Sesshomaru is sorry for taking you and child.”

“It’s ok but what do you want that made you want to take me here without telling Inuyasha?”

“KAGOME!”

A young girl raced down the stairs and hugged Kagome happily

“Rin! How are you?”

“I’m alright. My lord said I would see you soon! And with a….. BABY!”

Kagome smiled at her as she held Kin for her to see better. Rin squealed at the precious bundle then Kagome looked back to the tall demon standing before her.

“This Sesshormaru only wished to see his nephew.”

“I’m sure Inuyasha would have let you.”

“Yes the half-breed might have but I could never say in front of him what I’m about to say to this little one.”

“What?”

He kneeled before the child and Kagome let him hold him. As the child slept in his arms the demon smiled for the first time in a long while.

“What is his name?”

“Kin…”

“Fitting…. Kin, golden one, son of Inuyasha and grandson to his lord Inu No Taisho, I bless your birth and in so doing I grant you all the powers of your ancestors and if I do not produce an heir within two years time I promise upon your birth that your father Inuyasha will rule beside me as brother and all heirs after you shall rule as family.”

He ran a claw over the forehead of the child making him cry for a moment. Blood trickled from the new symbol on him and then glowed purple, he now had the asai crest just like Shessarmaru. Kagome cried seeing that this demon, half-brother to Inuyasha, had finally accepted his brother and his nephew. Although Shessamaru didn’t want Inuyasha to see, he arrived at the door just as he began chanting, he saw it all and was frozen in the door. Kagome looked over to see him tears flowing from his eyes.

“Inuyasha?”

“Brother?”

“You accepted Kin…. Does that mean?”

“Yes… approach me brother.”

Inuyasha walked to his brother like a zombie still not sure if this was all really happening. His brother raised his hand and he carved the same symbol into his head but instead of purple it was a maroon red color like their father’s crest was. Inuyasha bowed.

“Brother….”

“You are part of the family now… Inuyasha”
