Consequences

‘Remain here, Jaken.  I will return in three days.’  Lord Sesshomaru said this after knocking Jaken to the ground when he attempted to follow him farther out of the castle.

It had been two days.  Two days, and he still had one more day.

Jaken lost sight of Rin.  While sulking outdoors, he did not see her leave the castle, and even after he searched every room including the surrounding areas, he still could not find her.

Jaken was terrified.

If he did not find Rin then no one would find him because his Lord would turn him to ash.  He was in deep trouble.

‘Stupid girl why can’t you accept a good thing when it happens to you!’  Jaken threw his staff on the ground.

She was a selfish, spoiled brat to deny their lord.  He was clearly upset, even if he seemed indifferent.  He wanted her to accept his embrace and she shamed herself when she refused.

‘Where are you?!’

‘Where is who?’

Jaken jumped three feet in the air.  Clinging to his staff he slowly turned around and stared in terror.

‘L-lord S-Sesshomaru-sama. Y-you’re back early.’

Sesshomaru raised one disdainful eyebrow.  ‘Where is Rin.  I could not find her inside the castle.’

Jaken took an uneasy step back.  ‘S-she ran away Lord Sesshomaru!’ he threw himself down at his feet.  Perhaps his death would be painless, ‘I tried to stop her but she wouldn’t listen.  That girl just ran away and—‘

He looked up.

Lord Sesshomaru…vanished?

He spun around.

He was alone.
