Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Inuyasha awoke to a servant laying out a fresh outfit for him to wear. He watched as she picked up the fire rat outfit and wrinkled her nose at it. He frowned when he saw this. So it might be a little dirty. He watched the maid carry the outfit out of the room by holding it in the tips of her fingers.

"Make sure you wash it and return it as soon as it is dry." He watched her nod to him then disappears out the door. He rose and put the outfit that she had left on and was about to leave the room when someone knocked on the door. "Enter." Kitaro entered the room and found the young prince dressed and about to leave.

"Prince Inuyasha it will be my pleasure to assist you in helping take care of your brothers lands."

Inuyasha stared at the demon before him. He could sense no lies from him. It seemed that he really wanted to help him. Inuyasha nodded to him.

"So what do I do first?" Kitaro followed the hanyou out the door and directed him to the lord's office.

"We must go over the mail that Lord Sesshoumaru has accumulated in his absence. We must not allow the other lords to know that Sesshoumaru is missing. They would attack the west at the first signs of weakness on our part. We must come up with a reason for his being gone. Do you have any ideas?"

Inuyasha stared at Kitaro and started laughing. This was his chance to get even with Kagome for taking the shards and disappearing not to mention get even with Sesshoumaru for taking her.

"I have the best reason possible for his disappearance. If any one ask we simply tell them that Sesshoumaru is off on vacation with his new mate Kagome." Not to mention that it would get Kagome out of the way so he could be with Kikyo. And hopefully before they found out about the rumor he would be long gone with Kikyo. Since there was no way that Sesshoumaru would mate her he would have to kill her to squash the rumors and Kikyo would finally get her soul back. Then he could use the jewel to become a full demon.

Kitaro looked at the prince with his mouth dropped open. Yes that excuse would explain his disappearance but when the lord came back they would all pay for this small deception. He smiled to Inuyasha

"That just might work. But when Lord Sesshoumaru returns I am laying it on your head." Inuyasha smirked and just laughed.

"Fine I will deal with my brother when he returns. So lets get busy with these letters." He picked up a scroll and read the contents. He set the urgent ones aside and the others that were not urgent he and Kitaro placed in another pile for Sesshoumaru to take care of when he returns. After all the urgent business had been taken care of he sent for Miroku.

Miroku followed the servant that had been sent to fetch him. Inuyasha must really be getting into his role of prince to send a servant after him. He knocked on the study door and then entered it. He found Inuyasha and Kitaro sitting around a huge desk. He felt somewhat leery when they both smiled at him.

"What are you two up too?" Inuyasha motioned for the monk to sit down.

"We came up with a reason for my brothers disappearance and with your help no one will disbelieve it."

Miroku frowned at the duo in front of him. Now he was sure that he didn't want to be part of what ever they were cooking up. "What reason did you come up with?"

Inuyasha started laughing once again and soon Kitaro joined him. "Sesshoumaru mated with Kagome and they are on a vacation together."

Miroku couldn't believe his ears. Inuyasha wanted to tell everyone that the ningen hating lord mated a ningen miko. Who would ever believe such a thing? But on the other hand it was so unbelievable that it could be believable. But I don't want to be around when Sesshoumaru finds out about it. Not to mention Kagome. He shuddered just thinking about their reactions.
"And why pray tell did you call for me?"

Kitaro picked up three scrolls and handed them to the monk. "We need you to deliver these to the other lords."

Miroku looked at the scrolls and took them from the general. "And what may I ask is written on these scrolls?"

"Why the proclamation of Sesshoumaru's mating to Kagome. This will allow them a month at the most to return without the other lords bothering us. Hopefully by then they will be back and then the whole matter can be straightened out." Kitaro smiled at the monk and choked back another bout of laughter. Finally he could get even with his lord for sending all those that wished to mate with him to his room. Not that he minded so much but there had been a couple that not even he would bed.

"And why must I distribute these scrolls?" Miroku frowned at the scrolls in his hands. He was sure that he wouldn't like the answer. Inuyasha smiled at his friend.

"It would make it more believable if they were delivered by a monk. Who would expect a monk to deliver false mating proclamation scrolls? Once they see you they will have to believe what the scrolls say and hence buy us time for Sesshoumaru to return. I am sure that Sango will lend you Kirara for your deliveries."

Miroku knew that he shouldn't do what he was being asked but it was just to tempting to see what Lord Sesshoumaru did to his brother and general when he returned. He gathered up the scrolls and went to find Sango. He would let Inuyasha explain their excuse to her. He didn't feel like getting hit for something that he had no hand in. After finding her in the garden and getting her permission to borrow Kirara he took off but not before sending her to visit Inuyasha. To bad he wouldn't be there to see Sango put a few knots on Inuyasha or Kitaro's heads.

Sango watched Miroku fly off with Kirara before turning and heading into the castle. She had to find Inuyasha and see if she could discover why Miroku was being so mysterious. She found him laughing himself silly and what really shocked her most was that Sesshoumaru's general was laughing just as hard. She walked up to the desk and slammed her hands down on it to get both their attention.

"Would you two like to tell me what is so funny?" Inuyasha looked up at Sango and tried to stop laughing but just couldn't seem to.

"No not really. I don't feel like getting hit thank you and if you found out why we were laughing you would definitely hit us."

Sango stood up and turned and left the room. She found a servant and waited outside the door till she returned with her request. It didn't take the servant long and Sango relieved the servant of her burden and returned to the study. The two males where still laughing. She took one bucket and dumped it over the general and then quickly dumped the second bucket over Inuyasha.

"Now tell me what you two were laughing about." Inuyasha and Kitaro were wiping the water out of their eyes then they both turned to glare at the girl before them.

"What did you do that for?" Kitaro growled at the girl then turned to leave before he did something to the girl he would regret. It would take hours for his fur to dry. Not to mention his tail now looked like it belonged on a rat demon instead of an inu-youkai. He just knew it was going to puff out when it finally dries. It will take days to get it back under control.

Sango took a defensive stance when the general stood but relaxed slightly when he left the room. Now all she had to do was put up with a fuming hanyou.

"I want to know what is so funny!"

"Fine you want to know. I just sent letters to the other lords saying that my brother mated Kagome and that is why he will be unable to attend his duties for the next month. And that is the reason that I am in control of the west." Inuyasha stood away from the desk and walked out of the room. He would have to go change again now that he was soaked. He headed to his room. He could hear Sango finally start after him. Darn I thought I had shocked her enough that she wouldn't come after me. Guess I was wrong.

Surely I didn't hear what he just said. I must have been hearing things. Who in their right mind would believe that Sesshoumaru and Kagome would ever mate? For one thing he hated humans and for a second she was a miko. And one thing I know for sure is that mikos' and demons' don't mix.

Not to mention how angry Sesshoumaru would be once he found out what Inuyasha and Kitaro had done. I don't want to be around when that happens. Not to mention Kagome. At times she was worse than Sesshoumaru when she got mad. I hope she doesn't think I had anything to do with this when she gets back.

Sango shivered at that thought and it broke her out of her stupor to find Inuyasha gone. She took off running to find him. She caught him right outside of his room.

"Inuyasha how in the hell do you expect to get away with this crazy scheme?"

"Think about it Sango. It is so unbelievable they will have to believe it and with Miroku delivering the scrolls it will leave them with very little doubt." He waited for this information to sink in before turning around and opened his door.

"Fine but I have no part in your ploy and I just hope you survive all the sit's that Kagome is going to give you when she finds out about this. Not to mention what your brother is going to do." Sango turned and left the hanyou to change and went to her room to retrieve her Hiraikotsu. She needed to burn off some steam and maybe if she got lucky she could talk a few demons in sparring with her.

Inuyasha watched the angry girl walk away from him. He could hear her mumbling something about stupid hanyou's and generals as she walked away. At least she didn't beat him up. But from the looks of it everyone had better stay out of her way. Then her words came back to him. I'll be long gone with Kikyo before they find out so I have nothing to worry about. I hope.

Sango walked outside and followed the servant to the dojo. She had never seen one this big before. The servant left her at the door and Sango opened it to discover several guards training. Everyone stopped when she entered. Maybe this was a bad idea.

Kitaro saw the slayer enter the dojo with her boomerang across her back. So the human wanted to play fine he would ensure that she got too. He walked up to Sango and bowed.

"May I be of service to you my Lady?"

"I was wondering if I could practice." Sango couldn't believe that the demon bowed to her then called her Lady. I was sure that he would still be mad about the water from earlier. She could still see parts of his fur that were still wet. And his poor tail was still hanging down behind him making him look nothing like the regal demon she had first met.

"I'm sorry I poured water on you Kitaro. I didn't know it would do that to your tail."

"That's ok, maybe you'll take pity on me and brush it till it's all back to normal then." He saw the shocked expression on her face and let a small chuckle escape. "Maybe some other time then. I will have some of my best warriors to spar with you if you would like." He motioned to a few demons that were training and before long the dojo floor was cleared. Many of the soldiers had taken a seat on the side of the dojo. They wanted to see the slayer in action. He turned to the soldiers that were to face Sango. "Just remember that this is sparring and men you will not overly damage the taijiya. Take it easy on her." He stepped back and joined the rest of his men on the sidelines.

Sango glared at the general as he walked away to the sidelines. How she wished he would be the one she was fighting. She joined the soldiers that were left on the floor. He just had to choose the largest of them all to face her. And she didn't have Kirara to help her. This should be interesting. She bowed to them and then walked to the other end of the dojo.

When she reached her spot she threw Hiraikotsu at the demons. Managing to strike only one. The other two managed to avoid the strike. She ducked as they sent their weapons to her and just barely managed to catch her hiraikotsu as it returned to her. After an hour she finally managed to knock the remaining guard out. It had been a long time since she had such a hard training session. She thanked the soldiers and slowly walked out of the dojo. She needed to find a hot springs to soak in.

Kitaro watched the slayer limp out of the room. She was a good fighter. Maybe I should have told her to take it easy on my soldiers. No wonder his lord respected her. Sesshoumaru and he had a few conversations about his brother and his ragtag group. If they all fought as hard as the slayer they were surely a force to be reckoned with. No wonder they managed to defeat the hanyou Naraku. He surely didn't want to find himself fighting any of them in a real battle. He sent the injured soldiers to the healer and put the remaining soldiers back to training. If they could be beat that badly by a single female taijiya they were in sore need of more training.
