Returning To You

Chapter Eleven


Sango walked back into the living room to find Shiori hugging her 'son.' Sadness filled her at seeing the woman hugging him. What she wouldn't give to have her father or her brother with her. Everyone was busy trying to appear busy and not watching the emotional pair.

Shiori saw Sango standing next to Kagome and nodded, "Thank you."

Sango smiled and nodded. She turned to Kagome, "What now? I'm bored."

Kagome clapped her hands in front of her, "Well, I think I got an idea. Mind going outside with me for a few minutes?"

"Sure, but the building is surrounded." Sango looked out the window. "What do you suggest?"

"Hmmm, you," She pointed at Kuwabara. "When I tell you to open the door real quick and make sure you are behind it."

"Whatcha gonna do?"

"Just do it, Sango be ready." Kagome grabbed her bow off the coffee table. The little youkai lifted his brow, "What are you staring at shorty?"

Sango grabbed her weapon once more, "Ready. I hope you got a plan."

"You two can't go out there with those things." Shiori exclaimed. "Shuichi don't let them go out."

Kagome waved her hands in front of her. "Don't worry we are professionals. We use to do this stuff all the time." She turned standing in front of the door, notching an arrow. "Just make sure you open it when we knock please."

"Sure, you don't want a guy to go with you?"

"Open the door, before I shoot you instead." Kagome saw the door swing open, the first lizard tried to rush through. She let the arrow fly, the chain started. As soon as they fell she ran out, Sango on her tail. "Shut the door."

Kuwabara slammed the door shut but not before two more people sped by him. Shiori and Keiko ran to the window to watch.

"Hiraikotsu," Sango released the weapon into the crowd. "What's the plan Kagome?"

"The sky, look."

She looked up and almost panicked, the black mist was directly overhead. "It's coming down."

"Right, I wanna try and shoot it. It's worth a try but how do I get up there?"

Hiei landed in front of the miko. "Get on."

"We will take care of these things, you two go." Kurama drew out his whip.

"Okay," She climbed on the little man's back. "Get me as high up as you can, please." He nodded.

Sango watched them take off, it almost reminded her of the old days. "Which side do you want?" They were about to be surrounded.

"I'll take the left."

"Fine." She ran towards the right, slicing through the creatures. One jumped her from behind, it landed on her back. She felt the nails digging in. She brought her sword up sending it into the creature's face. It fell to the ground.

Keiko yelled at Yusuke from inside, "Get out there and help them you two. We will be fine in here."

"Going going. Just don't lock us out." He went out the door. He went to go help the girl and Kuwabara ran to help Kurama.

Sango saw Kagome and the youkai land on the building two doors down. It wasn't that far up but it was the best they were going to get. Screeching was heard, one of the flying ones was heading towards them, "Hiraikotsu." She let the weapon fly, it suceeded in bringing it down.

"Nice shot." Yusuke punched another one.

"Thanks." She caught the weapon and looked around. Most of them were cleared out for now.

Kagome was sure she could hit it from where she was. She notched an arrow and took aim. There was a good chance her arrow wouldn't have any effect on it. It was worth a try, she bit her bottom lip. Taking a deep breath she let go, she held until the pink light made contact. It looked like it wasn't having any effect at first. Slowly a hole formed, letting the sun come through. She let the air out as the hole spread. She threw her arms around the small man, "It's working." It didn't matter that he stood there stunned at her outburst and embrace.

Sango looked into the sky, Kagome had done it. They all watched as the sky began to clear. Kagome found herself suddenly on the ground next to her friend. The little man quickly stepped away from her.

"Now that was cool." Kuwabara came up to them. "Who are you girls anyways?"

"No one important." Kagome boasted. "I think it's over now." She looked at the red head. "Tell Shiori we said bye and it was nice to meet her. Come on Sango, I want to check on gramps."

"Right." Sango was more than happy to leave. She ran behind Kagome, it didn't matter if she suddenly felt like a coward. As long as she got away from those penetrating green eyes.

"Okay, that was weird. Who were those girls?"

"Your guess is as good as ours, baka." Hiei turned to watch them leave.

"Damn shame, they're lesbians or I'd be tempted to dump Keiko." Yusuke laughed. He heard his name being yelled from inside. Oops, he should learn to talk lower.

"Really, what makes you say that?" Kurama asked.

"Please, I thought that one had taken my head off."

"Trust me fox, you don't stand a chance. Even if you are pretty enough to be a girl." Hiei smirked. "You'd think after seeing them striping each other would be enough proof for you. Make a move on one and you'll get the same treatment as that fool."

"Hey, I didn't get to see them stripping each other so how was I suppose to know they had a thing?" Kuwabara glared at the little man. "Were they really stripping?"

An hour later the four men and two females were sitting in the living room when Koenma decided to pay them a visit. He was suprised to see the fox's human mother there. He walked inside looking unhappy and tired.

"Good to see everyone is okay."

"Yeah yeah, just tell us what the hell happened." Yusuke demanded.

"We still don't know. We aren't even sure what stopped it." Koenma informed them.

"A miko shot an arrow purifying the mist hovering over the city." Kurama told him. "I didn't know there was still a miko that powerful still around. I thought they had all died out."

"Strange, our records show that the last miko on our record disappeared over five centuries ago. A little over a year before the last of the taijiya was killed."

"What is a miko and taijiya?" Shiori asked.

"A miko is a holy woman, with immense purification powers. The taijiya were youkai exterminators, at one time the line was great. It slowly dwindled down to a small village over five centuries ago. Eventually until there was only one sole surviver, she was killed a year later I'm afraid. Our records are sketchy at best." Koenma looked out the window. "I assume this miko put these wards up."

"Yes, Kagome put them up." Keiko spoke up.

"I see, do you know where this Kagome lives? I wish to speak to her."

"I've never been there but she lives at the Higurashi shrine."

"Very well, Hiei and Kurama I wish for you two to accompany me. It is not an option either. I have a feeling we will need the miko's help. This disaster is far from over I assure you."

Please read and review. A/N: I just wanted to point out incase it wasn't clear. Hiei and Yusuke weren't paying attention when Yusuke bumped into Kagome. He felt the bump that was all. Neither saw the drink go into Sango's lap. So naturally they assume the two girls were undressing for another reason. Another thing, next story will probably be a Ka/Yu one. You know I have never seen a Ka/Kuwa pairing before, hmmm. Of course he is a dork and irritating to boot, would have to give him some other qualities to make up for those he lacks.
