Chapter 11
"My Unwilling Mate"
by Hentai Jane
CHAPTER 11
After being awake half the night, rocking the new born pups and enduring the dreaded night time feedings, Chuugi and Aika decided to wait a week before
having the birth celebration.
Kouga let the tribe know what the tentative date was and sent a messenger to notify Aika's parents.
This party took a lot of planning and preparation. Kagome helped Aika plan what kind of foods would be served and agreed to go to the human towns to find musicians.
"Why don't you let me take care of the pup for while Aika? You need some rest." Kagome rocked the squirming male as the tiny female sleep peacefully in her
crib. The girls laughed when Chuugi let out a particularly loud snore from the adjoining bedroom.
"I can't believe our pups are only one day old and I already feel like I have been through the ringer!" Aika sat down beside Kagome on the thick fur rug in their
sitting room. "But at least my back stopped hurting, plus, I can stand up on my now!"
"That's the spirit Aika! Stay positive and always look at the bright side of things." Kagome kissed the pups forehead. "They are so cute! Look at all the hair
they have! Most babies are bald, but not these two."
Aika's boy pup opened his eyes to see who was speaking, "Yes sweety, I'm talking about your handsome litselfself! LOOK AIKA! I think he's going to smile
or something!"
They watched as he drew his legs up and wrinkled his little nose. Kagome watched him in awe as he suddenly relaxed "What was that all about?" Kagome
asked Aika.
*sniff sniff* "Ewww.... I think he pooped again!" Aika reached to take the pup.
"I can't smell anyth........ hey!" Kagome felt something hot and wet slide across her forearm. Apparently, ancient Japanese cloth diapers couldn't hold a candle
to modern day Huggies.
Aika laughed harder than she had in a long time. But the sight of Kagome with poop running down her arm was too much for the female wolf.
"Hahahahaha... it was nice of you to offer me help Kagome, but I'll be fine. Let me get you a towel."
Kagome washed her arms off and headed back to Kouga's den.
When she entered his home she saw Kouga sitting at the kitchen table. He was drinking a large cup of hot tea. It was strathatthat he didn't acknowledge her.
'He seems so depressed.' Kagome thought as she approached the wolf. 'Not to mention the fact that he has been avoiding me all morning.'
"Hi. I haven't seen you much this morning." She waited for him to respond.
"Did you visit the pups?" Kouga questioned in a flat tone.
"Yeah, they are so cute Kouga, you should go see them later. I think the entire family is taking a rest at the moment." Kagome eyed Kouga, taking in his
movements and facial expressions, or lack of. "Speaking of family, my little brothers birthday is in a few days. My family always has a big party and I bet they
would love to meet you! So can we go Kouga? I really miss them and ..."
"No."
"Huh? But ...I ... Kouga, what about my family and friends? I need to .."
"I said no Kagome." His voice sounded lifeless.
Kagome held her temper not wanting to cut loose on him at the moment. 'Count to ten, take deep breaths, and stop thinking about ripping his tail off! If you
are nice to him, he might change his mind.' "Well, since I am not allowed to have a life, then do you want to start making plans for the birth celebration?"
"We don't need to plan. The entire tribe helps in the celebration so it's not like all the burden is stuck on us." Kouga left the kitchen and plopped down on the
futon crossing his arms and legs. He deliberately avoided looking into Kagome's eyes.
"It's not burden to help them. I can't believe your attitude Kouga! You told me before how great these celebrations were and how you looked forward to
them, but now you're acting so selfish!"
His head snapped around, glaring at her, "I am not the selfish one here Kagome! You are! WE should be in love by now, WE should be mates, WE should be
announcing your pregnancy, WE.."
"WE SHOULD not even be having thisversversation! Because WE did not plan on kid napping me, YOU did!! How can you expect me to just accept all of
this and fall in love with you Kouga? This isn't normal! You don't hold someone hostage because you THINK you love them. Ordinary youkai court a female
they are attracted to!"
"Fuck Kagome!!" His harsh words made her jump, "I DON'T THINK I LOVE YOU, I KNOW I DO! Stop doubting me!" Kouga stood up, pushing loose
bangs over his fur head band and pacing. "I won't let you go home because I know you'll find a way to keep from coming back. I already told you that once
we are officially mated, I will take you to see your family whenever you want, but until then, you are restricted from leaving my side. Understood?"
"Of course, Master!" With that, Kagome stormed out of the cave.
"Ginta!" Kouga shouted, "Keep an eye on Kagome."
"No problem boss!" Ginta stayed close to where Kagome was sitting.
The young miko was engrossed in her thoughts. Shippo hopped on her lap, noticing how her eyes stared straight through him.
"What's the matter Kagome?" Shippo stood up on her lap.
"I asked Kouga to let me go home. My little brother's birthday is coming up soon. I don't want to miss his eighth birthday Shippo. I've missed out on enough
family events, but this one is special. Souta would never forgive me if I wasn't there." She twirled the fur on his tail, "Kouga said no. That is the same answer
he always gives when I ask to return home or at go back to the village."
"Can't you just leave? We could run away together and find Sango and Miroku, they'd protect you from Kouga!"
Kagome smiled at his optimistic attitude, "It's not that easy Shippo-chan. Kouga has the subduing spell and the pack keeps a close eye on me. If they loose
track of my scent, then they will hunt me down and return me to Kouga. He is very possessive and arrogant, yet sweet and thoughtful."
"Sheesh Kagome, you adults are so confusing! Kouga can be nice, I mean, at least he's nicer than Inuyasha, but he can't tell you what to do! Just ditch the
wolf and lets get outta here! Sango and Miroku will kick wolf butt from coast to coast when they find out that he forced you to stay! But the best payback
will be when they find out about Inuyasha! Ohhh... I almost pity him" Shippo shivered at the thought of retribution for the hanyou.
"I have an idea," Kagome whispered to the kit, "just follow my lead, OK?" Shippo nodded and climbed onto her shoulder.
"Hey Ginta! How are you today?" Kagome asked in an overly cheerful voice.
"I'm fine. Onee-san, I know it's none of my business, but did you and Kouga have another fight?"
"I don't know what you are talking about. Kouga and I are getting along perfectly!" Kagome smiled at him, "So, um, I was going to ask if you would mind
letting me go fetch some water for tea tonight? I don't think Kouga is getting enough sleep. A hot cup of chamomile tea before bed time would probably make
him feel better, don't you agree?" 'Oh Kami, please let him agree!!'
" I don't know onee-san, Kouga said not to let you out of my sight...."
"Oh come on Ginta! Where would I possibly go? It's not like I can out run you or Kouga!" Kagome laughed in an attempt to hide her uneasiness, "So what do
you say? Can I get some water, pleasepleasepleaseplease?!" Kagome begged.
"Ugh..... oh...alright...." Ginta grumbled, "but you better hurry back, or else I'll come get you! The last thing I need is Kouga getting mad at me."
"Thanks Ginta!!" She calmly walked in the direction of the flowing stream. The waters were fast and turbulent today, just right for getting rid of a bucket and
even a sweater!
"Watch this Shippo-chan." Shippo hopped off her shoulder, watching the miko intently. Kagome threw the bucket in the swirling waters and watched as it
rushed further from sight. Next, she took off the blue sweater. It was a well made garment so she had to pick at the seams in order to find a weak spot.
Kagome ripped a piece of the material and wedged it between rocks that lined the shore. She picked up Shippo and jumped in the cold water, tossing the
sweater into the river. Kagome knew the water was the only way to block their scents. Hopefully the other clues would grant them time for escape.
Kagome picked the kitsune up and started running. She sprinted trough the mix of tangled, dying weeds and fall leaves that lined the forest floor. Most of the
leaves were still moist since it was early fall, aiding in her escape by avoiding the loud crunch they would have made if already dried out.
They were both afraid and cold. The woods were a dangerous place, especially at night. A girl and a kit didn't stand much of a chance. She could feel
Shippo's heart beating against her back. 'I have to find shelter for us before the sun sets.'
***********************************
Ginta waited for Kagome and her kit to return. She was gone long enough to walk to the river, fill her pail and walk back. He didn't want to anger his favorite
onne-san, but he had to check up on her.
"Kagome onee-san!" Ginta called out as he approached the river. "Yo, onee-san where are you! Hello!" He waited for a reply, but only the sound of rushing
water was heard. "Come on onee-san! This isn't funny!! Kouga is going to kick my ass if we don't get home soon!" Ginta's voice was carried away on the
wind, but there was still no answer.
"Kagome!! Shippo!! Hello!!" Ginta's heart started beating a little faster. Anxiety gripped him as he scoured the surrounding area.
He walked further down the rocky shoreline, trying to see any movements on the other side when he noticed something soft under his foot. Ginta picup aup a
piece of damp blue mateial from between jagged rocks. It held the unmistakable scent of Kagome. This was part of the sweater she was wearing earlier in the
day.
"Oh shit! Kouga, Hakkagu! Help!" Ginta screamed as he ran home.
More wolf youkai came dashing into the woods, worried and frightened about what could be happening.
"What the hell are you yelling about?!" demanded Kouga.
Ginta was terrified. He handed Kouga the piece of fabric, "I'm ....I'm terribly sorry..Kouga. She and the kit came here to get water..... I told her not to..... but
...but ..she said tea would make you feel better."
Rag Rage filled their leaders eyes, "You fucking idiot! I told you not to let her go off by herself! Now look what happened!" Kouga threw the material in Ginta's
face. "Spread out! I want ten of you to go down stream and look for them, then I want at least twenty males to take each side of this river and hunt for them.
Don't leave any stone unturned! I don't smell any other youkai around here, but Kagome and the kit might be scared and hiding some where in the woods.
Move your asses! If you find anything, report back to me!
Kouga joined in the search. His movements were frantic as he and the other wolves bellowed their names with the hope of receiving an answer.
"Kouga! Over here!" Kouga bolted to where Chuugi was standing. He found Kagome's sweater wrapped around a piece of drift wood.
Chuugi and the other pack members watched their leaders hands tremble as he reached for the mangled garment.
"Do you think she and the kit drowned?" Chuugi asked. He really didn't want to know the answer to his own inquiry. Aika would be devastated if something
happened to Kagome, and Shippo was just a kit who was so full of life and curiosity. The possibility if their deaths were gut wreng. g.
Kouga gulped in large mouths full of air. He was making a valiant effort to stay calm and hold back his tears. "She isn't dead and neither is Shippo! They can't
be! KEEP LOOKING DAMMIT!!!"
Everyone scattered. The other wolves felt doubtful of ever recovering their bodies or finding evidence of what happened to Kagome and Shippo, but foruga'uga's sake they had to keep looking. Nature has a way of concealing facts and keeping her secrets. Many times in the past when someone went missing, not
even the tiniest trace was found. They all prayed it would be different this time.
Kouga traveled with several other wolf youkai during the search for his love and adopted son.
His group were nearly three miles into the forest when they froze, not moving a single muscle. Kouga scented the air and put his finger across his lips, signaling
for the others to remain quiet. A tiger youkai was on their territory.
All youkai, wether weak or strong, knew better than to cross Kouga and his tribe.
The wolf prince started to shimmer, forming a phosphorescent type glow around his body. His fangs elongated, hair pushed up through previously unnoticed
follicles, arms and legs increased with muscle mass as his feet and hands shaped themselves into paws with razor shard claws at each tip. Kouga's nose and
mouth started to form a muzzle, but stopped. He didn't want a full transformation, that might hinder his movements.
It was rare that wolf youkai took on their true form, but Kouga was very aware of the fighting skills tiger youkai possessed . They were not an enemy to be
played with.
The tigers were still several miles ahead of them. Kouga leaned over and told one of his cohorts to bring help. The younger wolf ran at break neck speed to
alert the pack.
The small group stayed in place, listening and scenting the air in an attempt to judge the tigers distance form them. They were coming closer.
"Three males, one female, all orange." Kouga stated to his friends.
Humans and youkai alike new that three different types of tiger youkai existed: one, the orange, were extremely aggressive and would kill you in a heartbeat,
two, the black, that avoided contact with all other creatures unless looking for a meal, and three, the whites, who were a dying breed due to the fact that they
had poor eye sight and docile personalities.
When more pack members arrived with weapons, Kouga motioned for them to advance. Stealth fully, they started to move toward the oncoming tigers. The
plan was simple: spread out, stay low to the ground and kill any tiger in sight.
Hunting the tiger youkai wasn't a hard task, because their sense of smell didn't come close to that of a wolf. Kouga grinned when he thought of that fact. In
the past, his tribe succeeded in ridding the mountains and its vicinity of all threats, including tigers.
The wolves moved in silent, fluid motions. They appeared to be gliding through the forest as they tracked the enemy.
Kouga was in front, leading his comrades to their prey when his nose picked up a new scent. It was so familiar. 'Is that blood?' he sniffed again, slowing down
this time to breathe deeper and concentrate.
Tribe members followed his example. "Kouga.." Hakkagu said, "..do you smell that?"
"Oh.... Kami ..... it can't be...the blood....." Faster than the eye could see, Kouga tore through the woods.
"KAGOME!!!!" Kouga's anger was apparent in his call to her.
"Ouch, stupid vines!" Kagome yelped as she wiped the blood off her hand. Her gym shoe snagged a thick vine that sent her tumbling forward and broke the
thin flesh on her right palm.
Shippo's arms were wrapped around her neck, "Go faster Kagome! Run! I don't think they're far behind us!" he prodded her as they ran through the foliage.
A pang of guilt made her want to turn back and answer Kouga. She didn't want him to worry about her or Shippo, but Kouga brought this on himself. He
should have let her go home. Souta loved Inuyasha and since Kouga was a full youkai, her brother would have been fascinated by the wolf demon. But no, he
just couldn't be reasonable!
Loud voices called to her, apparently, Kouga had help in trying to find her. Kagome wasn't surprised by this, but the tone of his voice made her blood run cold.
Something was wrong.
"KAGOME!!!!!!! DAMMIT WOMAN!!!! STOP RUNNING AND GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE NOW!!!!! YOU AND THE KIT ARE IN DANGER!!!"
He creamed as loud as he could.
"What did he say Shippo?" Kagome gradually decreased her pace as Shippo listened.
"I heard him say your name and something about danger..... lift me up as high as you can Kagome."
She held Shippo above her head as he smelled their surroundings and his little ears twitched to catch sounds. But his composure vanished, making him
scramble back to her shoulder, "WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE KAGOME!! RUN!!"
"Why, what's happening?" sskedsked.
"TIGER YOUKAI, THERE ARE TIGERS IN THE FOREST!! THEY LTO ETO EAT HUMANS AND THEY ARE HEADED STRAIGHT FOR US........"
Shippo was white as a sheet and clung to her neck. Kagome looked around, she was confused and unsure of where to go.
Uncertainty will get you killed, as Kagome was about to find out.
Flashes of orange appeared around them, but the miko continued to run. She looked like a frightened deer trying to out run a predator that was hot on her
heels. Kagome glanced behind her, unaware of the very large, solid form that was now blocking her path.
"Oomph." She fell on her back, nearly squishing Shippo.
Growls were heard as three other forms circled them. Once her head cleared, Kagome looked at the massive youkai in front of her. He had to be at least seven
feet tall with black markings and bulging muscles. The raw power of this creature showed when he moved toward her. Kagome watched as his muscles tensed
and rippled under the lightly furred skin.
"Mmmmmm..... a delicious looking female. But why is it that you smell likes wolves and magic? And not just any wolf, but that bastard Kouga!" He growled
and flexed his hands, showing off shinny black talons.
The tiger waited for her to answer. He watched the girl as she gathered the kitsune closer.
"Why don't you answer me bitch!" He slapped Kagome hard, leaving the side of her face red from the impact and bleeding from the cuts he inflicted.
Kagome scooted away from him, which made him laugh, "You are not going anywhere human! Did you know that felines, even the large breeds, like to play
with their food?" the male tiger sneered at her as the others smirked at the human girl, "If giv give us that tasty kitsune, we might kill you faster."
Shippo trembled in fear, "There's no way I'm going to give you my pup, no matter what you do to me!" Kagome held him tighter.
The tiger crouched down, preparing to strike, "Fine, have it your way" he leapt at her, claws extended out and slashing. He managed to catch her right thigh as
she rolled to the side.
Kagome got to her feet and ran with Shippo tucked under her shirt. Her human speed was nothing compared to a youkai.
All four tigers kept their distance but stalked her as she tried to retreat.
After growing bored with the pursuit, one of the tigers jumped on Kagome, knocking her down. The miko turned over, ing ing one hand in front of her face
while her other arm was wrapped around Shippo.
She was surrounded. The tigers growled to each other, communicating in a language only they knew.
"HHEEELLPPPP!" Kagome screamed. She didn't want to be torn apart and eaten, but most of all, the thought of Shippo's life ending in such a brutal fashion
was unacceptable. Fear coursed through her body as a brilliant pink light flashed from her extended arm.
This wave of luminescence knocked the tigers back, but did not inflict the kind of damage that was needed.
The large male recovered quickly, "You'll pay for that bitch! First I'm going to eat your cub, alive, in front of you! Then we will take our time disemboweling
you before you finally die!"
He grabbed for the cub. Kagome twisted, dropping Shippo, "Run Shippo, please, don't look back!" The tiger dug his claws into the flesh of her right side as
he looked at the kit. Slowly he drew his claws down her side. Her tearing skin made a sickening noise that would surely haunt Shippo for the rest of his days.
His big green eyes looked at her. She was his mom, how could he leave her when she needed help? "Run Shippo now!" Kagome's face contorted in pain, "I
will always love you, my kit."
Tears flooded her eyes as the huge tiger pulled her body back toward him. He licked the blood from his claws, clearly enjoying the flavoShe She had never
experienced pain this intense.
"Will you weak bastards get up and find that kit! I need a appetizer before I dine on this sweet bitch." He enjoyed the way she cried out was he slammed his
fist into her small form. A popping sound let him know that the last punch broke her ribs.
The tigers got to their feet, still shaking off the effects of the blast, when howls pierced the air.
Chuugi entered the clearing holding a traumatized kit. The sight that greeted Kouga was like a scene from his worst nightmare.
Kagome looked at him through unfocused eyes. Her blood stained face held the expression of shock. "Korosu, you cowardly bastard!" Kouga could feel
himself slipping into the black depths of rage, but he did not fight it. His youkai blood called for death and revenge, and Kouga gladly responded.
The wolves tackled the three smaller tigers. The harsh sounds of fighting reverberated across the land. The odor of blood and bodily fluids hung thick in the
air. Kouga's wolves wasted no time in disposing of the enemies. Their own rage caused by the sight of Kagome's injured body showed through crimson eyes.
Kouga lashed out at Korosu. The two youkai traded blows until the tiger was a bloody mess. Korosu was taken off guard by the strength Kouga possessed.
"HOW DARE YOU HARM MY MATE!!! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!" Kouga sunk his incisors deep within Korosu's neck. The tiger yowled, flailing
around, but Kouga wouldn't let go. A sea of crimson gushed from the neck wound as Korosu's movement steadily subsided.
Kouga threw his head back, releasing a triumphant howl that was mimicked by his followers. They had won the battle, but not without a price.
The wolf prince crawled over to his beloved, nudging her side. She did not move. Kagome's breathing was shallow and her skin tone resembled that of a
corpse. Kouga cradled the broken human in his arms, rocking her back and forth.
His tribes opinion of their leader's strength no longer concerned Kouga as he openly wept. Kouga had never cried like this.
Mournful howls could be heard for miles around, bringing unlikely allies to his aid.
"Kagome, ase ase love, wake up." Kouga spoke through chocking sobs, "don't die, please don't leave me." Her blood formed thick trails on his lower body as
he pulled Kagome in his lap and gripped her tighter.
But the petite beauty did not rouse from her trauma induced slumber.
"NNOOOOO.....SHE CAN'T DIE......... DO YOU HEAR ME KAMI!!! SHE CAN'T DIE! I WON'T LET HER!! NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Kouga screamed at the sky, hoping that some divine intervention would keep her with him.
Chuugi patted Kouga's shoulder in an attempt to comfort his friend. He then did something that was completely unheard of among youkai; Chuugi knelt before
Kagome and bowed until his forehead was pressed against the ground.
This was an honor reserved for only the most powerful and honored youkai. No human was viewed as being worthy of such respect. But Kagome was no
typical human. She was a strong miko who was blessed with many unique gifts, the greatest one being her capacity to love. One by one, each pack member
joined Chuugi in a final show of respect.
Today was not the day for stiff upper lind bnd bravery.
It was a time of grief. Kouga's intended mate was dying, and there was nothing they could do to save her.

rushed further from sight.
