Returning To You

Chapter Ten

Banging against the front door grabbed everyone's attention. Loud screaming could be heard, "Hey let me in."

Yusuke rushed to the door recognizing the voice, "You idiot. Why didn't you stay home." He unlocked and opened the door. Kuwabara came stumbling in almost falling over.

"What the hell is going on? See those things out there?" He leaned over with his hands on his knees, catching his breath. "Genkai told me to come, Yurameshi."

"What did grandma have to say?"

"Botan is there with her. So is Yukina, they are staying inside. Koenma is trying to figure out what's going on. He'll come let you guys know when he finds out something." A loud bang behind him caused him to jump. One of the creatures was pounding on the window, the double pane glass began to crack.

"Quick, give me something to write on." Kagome stepped forward. She snatched the pen from the red head. She made a sutra and slapped it on the window. It had the desired effect, the creature slammed his fists once more and got thrown back. "Sango tear me some paper, quick. We need to ward all the windows and doors." She made the wards as Sango handed her paper. They went around doing all the windows, leaving everyone else sitting in the living room.

"I think we got them all unless he has some secret room in here. I'm getting to old for this shit." Kagome wiped her brow, it was getting hotter. "Whomever this Koenma is better have answers soon, this wasn't how I wanted to spend my day."

"Well, we could always just go home and pretend none of this is happening." Sango suggested.

"Right." Kagome placed the pen on the kitchen table. "What I wouldn't do to just, I don't know."

"Be your average everyday girl?" Sango saw her nod. "Then you be wouldn't be Kagome. Imagine a world without Kagome, not a pretty thought."

"Shut up. Or I'll go remind everyone when they saw us last."

"I don't think you need to, I'm sure they remember us." Sango took Hiraikotsu off her back finally. "So are we going to really wait in here?"

"What choice do we have? Could go outside and fight endless creatures. I'd rather know what's causing it, that way we can stop it." Kagome placed her head down on the table. "Hmm, did you see the way Red was staring at you? I think Sango is about to get a new man." She snorted.

"I wish I could use that damn rosary. I would have just sat your ass."

"Heh, don't think so. It's not like you are married anymore." A sad look crossed her face. "And it's not like I'll ever be with Inuyasha."

"True but still, it's not that easy to just move on."

"Yeah, I can't imagine anyone being able to take his place." Kagome's thoughts went back to the hanyou, her hand going up to the rosary. Would she be able to love another like she had loved him? Or even near as much? Would she die a virgin?

"What's that look for?"

"Wondering if I was going to die a virgin." Kagome giggled at the weird expression across her friend's face. "Not like you gotta worry about that problem."

"No comment. Anyways, lets go see what's going on." Sango got up, slinging the weapon over her shoulder.


"So how did ya end up with two hot girls?" Kuwabara asked.

"Ask Kurama or Hiei, they found them." Yusuke leaned back on the couch. "I wonder how Kurama is dealing in his room? Wonder if his mom is going to freak."

"Hn." Hiei sat down next to the detective.

The two girls came in the room, Sango set her weapon against the wall. Keiko walked up to the miko, "Hey, I know who you are."

"Okay." Kagome gave her an odd look. She didn't have a clue who the other girl was.

"You're Higurashi, Hojo's girl."

Sango turned and gave Kagome a 'A Who?' look. Kagome felt her face go red, she hadn't seen the boy in over six months. Then she had run into while shopping. He had asked her out once more but she had turned him down.

Keiko looked the girl over, she didn't look that sick. "I'm suprised you were able to make it here, with you being so sick. Do you want to lay down?"

"I'm fine." Would she ever be known for anything other than her illnesses. "Don't ask Sango."

"Okay." Who the hell was Hojo? Kagome didn't have a boyfriend, now that Inuyasha was gone. Or was it that one guy the hanyou had complained about. "Inuyasha's Hobo?"

"The one in the same. I'll tell you later promise." Kagome could tell the others were listening in as well. She noticed the large orange haired guy staring at her.

"Hey, you're that pretty girl with the wicked kick. I remember you." He grabbed her hands. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Sango grabbed her weapon bringing it over his head in reflex. The large man fell to the floor sporting a new knot. "Oops."

Everyone got wide eyed, Yusuke came to his own conclusion. "Hey dufus, let be the one to inform you, those two are a couple. Somehow I don't think you are her type. Wrong gender and all."

Kagome felt like crawling under the carpet and disappearing. 'Doh.' So that's what the three men had concluded from that day. True she had held Sango's had that day and they'd seen her stripping the girl. Oh, it was time for them to leave. She could see Sango's face, it was redder than Inuyasha's clothing.

Sango wasn't sure if she wanted to deny the fact or give the guy on the couch a knot also. Oh, well let them think what they would. Her and Kagome both knew differently.

"Really?" Kuwabara stood up, "Want me to change your mind?"

"You're asking for it." Sango shouted. Of course to the others it sounded like she was jealous. But to her, she was from a time when it was considered wrong to proposition a woman with sex.

"No, I think I'll stick with what I already prefer." Kagome stated. Which was men with half a brain, at least some common sense.

Kurama came out into the living room, looking upset. Sango had to use the bathroom, "Mind if I ask where the bathroom is?"

"Down the hall, second door on the left." He'd just informed his mother of everything. After telling her of what he was she asked for some time alone. He left to give her, her space. Sorrow filled him knowing that his relationship with her would be changed forever.
His mother meant everything to him.

Sango walked down the hall arms folded, she heard crying as she passed a bedroom. Being curious she opened the door. Shiori was sitting on the bed. The tiajiya walked in not sure if there was anything she could do for the woman. Still it was better than walking by acting like she didn't care.

Sango sat beside the woman, "Need a friendly ear?"

"Oh, sorry. I guess everything has come to a shock to me. It's not everyday you find out your son isn't who you thought he was. Is he even really my son?"

Sango wasn't sure what to say but be honest. "Let me ask you something, did you give birth to him?"

"Actually, yes I did. But he said something about him almost dying and he went into my womb. I'm not sure how that is possible but after seeing everything today I'm willing to believe anything."

"I'm not sure how it's possible either. What you really need to ask yourself is what's important. I'm assuming that he has been with you, that you raised him." The woman nodded and she continued. "Let me tell you something about myself. Not too long ago I lost my father and my brother. Then I lost my husband and all the friends I've ever had. But now I'm with Kagome and her family. I'm no relation to any of that family nor do we come from the same place. Yet, they are my family and I love each one dearly. If you have always thought of him and have loved him as your son, then he is your son. It doesn't matter where he came from. It isn't where we come from, it's where you are going that makes you who you are." Sango gave her a hug.

"You're right, he's my son. I'm sure he's worried with the way I reacted." She got up giving the girl a quick smile.

Sango watched her leave, "Gotta find a bathroom before I pee myself."
