Chapter 11

People always say that in any situation that the first twenty four hours are the hardest and after that it will be easier. In most cases that statement would be true. But people who truely believe that it works for everyone must not know Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. The first twenty four hours had been bad, but it got worse from then on. The last six months had been filled with nothing but screaming and fatigue. But sadly their troubles were not over with, not in the least.

Inuyasha and Sesshomaru lay in their bed getting some much needed and well deserved rest. A shrill, ear shattering scream met their ears and they realized that it wasn't one of the pups screaming. It was human. Inuyasha shot up from the bed in a blur of crimson and silver, he had Sesshomaru on his heels. They spend off to their parents room, they were thinking the worst.

Both he and Sesshomaru stopped at the door anf gave each other a look to confirm each others thoughts. 'Our father is dead' and with that they walked in to the room only to be greeted by a horrible site. Tears were threating to fall from Inuyasha's eyes as he saw his mother sitting on the bed wailing. The slashed body of his father by her side, he and Sesshomaru dropped to their knees. They both let out a mournful howl for their fallen father. A howl so filled with compassion and loss that it would pierce the sky and make the stars shimmer in sadness.

"What does it mean?!" Izayoi half screamed half cried to them as she pointed towards the wall across from the bed. Both brother's folloed her finger and on the wall in their father's blood red "A life for a life." Realization dawned on them and Inuyasha muttered only one word. He name fall from his lips before he went to his mother "Kouga" his tears falled with each pace towards his mother.

"Ofukuro" he called her silently and she stared at him, her face covered in tears for he beloved mate. Inuyasha sat on the bed and grabbed her into a warm embrace. He fragile body shook violenty as she sobbed uncontrollably. "I tried to tell him(sobs). He was so exhausted (sobs) more than usually I could tell. Come to bed my love (sobs) that's what I told him and he told he...he told me to give him a moment and then he would join me( sobs) I waited for hours and he never came(hiccups) I fell asleep and I never knew he was here, untill he grasped my arm but he was gone before I realized what happend" she sobs grew louder and more unbearable as she told her sad story.

Inuyasha did nothing, he just rocked her back and forth "Everythings going to be fine" he muttered into her hair. Izayoi shook her head violently from side to side "No!(voice softens) I cannot stay here koi. You are my son and I love you but I cannot stay here. You have your mate and your children. Don't take them for granted, don't think they'll always be there. I will not leave if you think I'm abandoning you, I need to know that you understand why I'm leaving. Do you understand?" she asked turning back into her motherly self.

He just sat there as he thought, Inuyasha looked desperatly at his mate his eyes pleading for help. He couldn't say it and apart of him would feel selfish if he made her stay for him, he looked over at Sesshomaru again. The daiyokai sighed before clearing his throat "Go Oka-san, Inuyasha understands he just can't say it" he looked at the women with a blank expression. Izayoi looked at Inuyasha who shook his head to answer her silent question.

Izayoi looked over at the bloody body beside her and looked at the face of her mate. She kissed his forehead. "Aishiteru, now and forever" she whispered as she walked over to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru who were now standing side-by-side. She hugged Inuyasha with all the love she could give him. Then she turned to Sesshomaru and gave him a weak smile and surprisingly the daiyokai returned the smiled. She embraced him "You may never think of me as your mother and that I understand, but always know Sesshomaru that you will always be my son" and with that she was gone, maybe never to return.

There was a long silence and Inuyasha was on his knees again. Sesshomaru knelt beside him and pulled him into a warm embrace "Come" he said as he picked his up bridal style. Inuyasha blinked in confusion, he didn't bother to ask where they were going. He closed his eyes and snuggled into his mates chest, drawing every bit of comfort his mate offered him. Sesshomaru placed the hanyou down and saw him open his eyes. When Inuyasha's eyes adjusted he realized that they were in the valley.

Sesshomaru sat next to him and looked up towards the sky and took in a deep breath of the cold night air. Inuyasha sat up and laied his head on Sesshomaru's shoulder as he began to cry again. Sesshomaru wrapped a protective arm around his mate as he watched him cry. They sat like this for a long time, with Inuyasha crying in Sesshomaru's arms. "Stop" he muttered and Inuyasha looked at him confused "Huh?". Sesshomaru looked at his mate with sad and sympathetic eyes "Only so many tears can be cried, you've cried enough" he said wipping some of Inuyasha's tears away. Anger shot through Inuyasha's body "Our father just died baka!" he shouted at him and Sesshomaru didn't even blink.

"You told me not to long ago that I shut you out, but know you are doing the same thing to me" he met Inuyasha's cold stare. He decided to continue "I'm aware of what has happened to our father, but I will not let his loss consume me...or you" he said his voice slightly shaky. Inuyasha's body went limp and he fell back into Sesshomaru's arms. "No more tears, we must be strong for our children and make sure they know what an honorable demon their grandfather was" he spoke softly to his mate. Inuyasha lifted his head to look dead into Sesshomaru's eyes "Your right, but that doesn't stop me from being scared though does it?" he asked as more tears were quickly wipped away. "You are not a coward Inu, you can't run from your fears anymore. We'll get through this together" he whispered as he carried him back to their chambers. Inuyasha only nodded as he fell asleep again.

A/N: This story is reaching it's end! But don't be sad (cheers) Look for part two comin atcha really soon. I'm gonna do something kinda modern in the next chapter that I don't know if yokai's do or not but oh well.
