Brothers Alternate Ending Posted
Authors Response
I am neither a hypocrite nor have I bowed beneath my own values. I removed the epilogue
because I hate flamers. They never have anything valuable to add. An honest critique that says
‘this really didn’t work’ or ‘I’m disappointed you changed the pairing’ would suffice. I am a
professional writer. I do not yet write for a living, but I am the member of several professional
writing groups and have a novel on the board. I am quite used to having ‘opinions’ about my
work. But I do not, and will not ever accept flames. If you don’t like it, and there is a legitimate
reason, because this is fanfiction, I may consider changing it. But if you are simply pissed off
because I wrote something you weren’t prepared for or it didn’t fit into your scheme of things,
don’t expect me to accept anything you have to say.
be why I changed the ending, that could not be farther from the truth. So, if anyone is savoring
the idea that I am prejudice about the coupling, let me set that record straight. I am not. I am
hetero, yes, but I have and cherish many gay and lesbian friends. It sort of goes with my
profession (not being a writer, what I really do for a living). The story has always been in mind to end this way. It was a journey of self discovery for
Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha. A journey in which they discovered what it meant to be brothers, to
love one another, and the true power of forgiveness. They were never meant to ‘stay’ together,
but, if anyone cared to read closer, I did not break them up either. They continued their
relationship despite taking mates. It was not the fiery passion of the discovery chapters, but
became the comfort and security of a long lasting love between lovers who would cherish each
other a life time. They would never give each other up completely. IF you only read the story
because of the sex and did not understand the greater meaning behind the emotions and what
was written, then that is why the epilogue was so distasteful and upsetting. Hence, if you don’t
understand why it was written the way it was, don’t read it.Otherwise, I appologize to those offended by the change they did not see coming. There were
hints all through the story that it was there. I am gravely sorry you missed them. Perhaps we can
share another story in the future and you will know to read more into my writing that only what
appears on the surface.Brothers
Epilogue
It was three years since the night Inuyasha and his father brought Sesshoumaru back from the
Land of The Dead and every year there was a big family celebration to commemorate that event.
It also heralded the day when the royal family of The Western Lands was fully restored to power
and soon after, the Shikon no tama was completed and purified. What happened afterwards was a
series of events that brought the Feudal World to it’s knees in peace.
Sonora. She was fiery of spirit with a warm, loving nature and her large golden-green eyes
intrigued and captivated her mate from the first moment their gazes locked. She gave him two
pups. Matai, the eldest and male. He would inherit his father’s responsibilities when Sesshoumaru
either became too old to be useful or died. Then there was Tirza, a female. She was two years
younger than her brother and possessed a personality that mirrored her Uncle Inuyasha. She was
the bane of Matai’s existence and joyfully went out of her way to see that he was miserable.
Despite her being human, Rin remained the eldest, as Sesshoumaru still claimed her as his ‘child’
and she also fell in love with Sonora who willingly took her into her heart. No one was forgotten. Inuyasha traveled back to his home village where he was greeted with mixed welcomes. Many
were happy for him and his transformation, while others feared him now that he was a pure
youkai. They felt they could no longer trust him as his human blood had all but been supressed
completely. They didn’t understand that he would still revert to human form on the new moon
even though his youkai blood was now fully dominant, and he was still the same person he’d
always been. To them, he was dai-youkai. That was they saw. It was a painful reunion. Kagome didn’t know how to act or react to Inuyasha’s transformation. It actually made him
more desirable to her and reawakened her feelings for him. Confused and afraid, she went back to
the future and did not return for several months. Inuyasha was heart broken. He still loved her,
and loved her even more knowing what she’d risked to save him. She was the mate of his heart,
and he wanted her back. When she did at last return, it was to use the Shikon herself and make a
wish that would alter the future...perhaps. Or maybe it was what was meant to be all along.
Kagome wished to be Inu Youkai so she could mate with Inuyasha and live with him in his time. She made a beautiful youkai. Her hair shining and glossy, ebony-blue when the moon shone on it.
Eyes that were once dove-gray became an incandescent, pale blue that shimmered with the colors
of the rainbow. Claws and fangs just made life more interesting, and when Inuyasha finally took
her as his mate, they morphed into their Youkai’s and chased each other over the rolling hills,
barking, snarling, biting; the hunt was on and she was going to make him work for it. She gave
him twin pups. A boy and girl. Tukarin and Sokura. Both were highly intelligent and mischievous
to a fault. Often Inuyasha could be heard growling that he should have thrown both of them in the
river when they were newborns. It would have saved him the trouble of killing them later after
they’d driven him insane. Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru’s relationship was rapidly evolving into something neither of them
understood, but it had something to do with the fact that a piece of Sesshoumaru’s soul was
bound to Inuyasha. That was what had made him pure youkai and deprived Sesshou of his tail. The brothers could mind-speak each other over any distance, so the need for physical connection
lessened. However, it did not fade away altogether. Whenever they were in close proximaties,
they found a way to be alone; even if it was only for a few hours. It was a feeling that would
never die between them. An eternal love more pure than the light that bound them together. And Tashio? He simply settled back and enjoyed his grandchildren. Watching the festivities was
the most fun he could remember ever having. Life was good, if only Izayoi was here to watch it
with him.The End
