Part 12

You did not have to be a
genius to figure out what happened between Ayame and Inuyasha. Kaede smiled and
Shippou made a clicking sound with his teeth. Ayame blushed deeply and tried to
hide her face in the red haori Inuyasha had lent her. Shippou found his way up
on Inuyasha’s shoulder and smiled brightly.

So you are fully mated now otousan? he asked and Inuyasha
nodded.

I am happy for you, said Kaede. I give you my blessings as a
miko of this village.

-         

Thank you Kaede-sama, said Ayame just before she was pulled
into the arms of Inuyasha.

-         

We will leave later on to search for the bastards that killed
Shippou-chan’s parents, said Inuyasha and moved Shippou from his shoulder and
laid him in the arms of Ayame instead and he held them both in a protective
embrace. They were his family now.

I understand, but I hope you will return later to visit this
old hag, chuckled Kaede.

-         

Of course Kaede-obaasan. I want to try on more of your
delicious cooking, smirked Inuyasha.

Kaede blushed lightly but
nodded.

-         

Are you ready to travel with us, or do you want to stay with
granny Kaede? Asked Inuyasha and looked down into the kitsune’s green eyes.

-         

I want to be with you, otousan, stated Shippou firmly.

-         

Ok, but you will have to follow my orders if I give them to
you.

-         

Of course otousan.

-         

Good, now let’s get going. We should be able to get to the
great mountains in the north before nightfall, said Inuyasha. I am sure that’s
were they are hiding out.

Kaede gave Ayame a white
shirt and hid a wicked smile as the wolf turned crimson red.

-         

We don’t want you to be cold during your travels, said Kaede
and watched how Ayame moved from Inuyasha’s lap to get inside the other room to
change.

-         

Otousan, we must find more proper clothes for okaasan, stated
Shippou and tried to sound like a grown up and failing miserable.

-         

I agree to that my pup, chuckled Inuyasha and rustled the red
hair of his adoptive son.

Ayame came back and
handed over the red out fit back to Inuyasha. Her new shirt was like a tent, but
it was the best for now. Inuyasha made a mental note to get her more proper
clothing once the reached a bigger village. “Perhaps I should take them to my
old cave? I still have some things and stuff left there from my time as a pup. I
wonder if that stuffed little tiger is still around, it would be great for
Shippou.” Yes, he would take them to his old cave first. And with that
decided he motioned Ayame to climb onto his back and Shippou too.

I can walk fine by my own, said Ayame but did as she was
told.

-         

I know that mate, but I want to carry you, smiled Inuyasha
and took a firm hold on her strong legs and pulled her close to his back. He
almost moaned when he felt her centre make contact with his lower back. It
almost had him come on the spot.

-         

I wish you well on this journey Inuyasha-sama, said Kaede and
bowed. Take care of your mate and pup and visit me as often as possible.

-         

I will Kaede-obaasan, you take of your self too now, said
Inuyasha and left the hut with one giant leap.

“I will my dear boy. I
am so glad I have been alive to witness this, I truly am.”
the old miko thought and watched the little family disappear into the forest of
the Bone Eaters Well.
