Returning To You

Chapter Nine

If it wasn't for the situation Sango would have been blushing to her roots. Instead she focused on the problem at hand, "They are mainly after her." She had the large weapon hanging over her shoulder. A blush actually came when the red head started to stare at her.

"Shuichi, don't stare. It isn't polite." Shiori scolded him.

"Sorry mother." He turned his gaze away from the girl. Part of him screamed that it was her, another told him not to be foolish.

"I suggest we head inside somewhere, these things don't seem to be smart enough to know how to use a door." Hiei stated.

"That's true," Kagome agreed with him. She eyed the small man, he looked to be a little shorter than herself. If you didn't count the hair. "You two take the lead, we will take the rear."

Kurama grabbed his mother's hand knowing Hiei would take care of any threat. He saw something pink fly over his head and watched another flying one fall out the sky dead. Yusuke and Keiko were still outside his apartment, waiting for them to return. "Get inside you two." He pulled his mother inside his apartment and went for his phone. He dialed his stepfather, the man picked up; he told him that she was safe and to stay inside.

He looked up to see Kagome and Sango standing outside the door. Kagome looked at Hiei, "Get in and shut the door."

"Don't be foolish." Hiei stood there, surely she didn't think he'd run inside while he let two females stand outside and fight. "I'll go inside once you two are in there."

"You gotta be shitting me." Sango almost felt like laughing. There was no way in hell she was going inside there.

Shiori came up to the door, "Will you two please come in? I'd feel bad if anything were to happen to you."

"Emotional blackmail, gotta love it." Kagome sighed and stepped inside hoping Sango would do the same. She did once she saw Kagome go in. Hiei shut the door behind himself and even locked it.

Yusuke tried using his old cumminicator, all he got was static. "This is just fucking great, what the hell are we suppose to do?"

"I'd like to talk to Kagome in private," Sango stated.

"The kitchen is over there, if need be." Kurama informed her.

She nodded and dragged her friend into the room with her, she turned on her. "You just had to walk inside didn't you." She really didn't feel like being stuck in a house with them. "I'd prefer to be outside fighting."

"Yeah me to, sorry. Look maybe we can figure out what's going on. Then we can go take care of it."

"Trying to save the world again?" Sango asked her.

"I don't know, I'm not sure there is anything we can do. But you never know. Hey, was that a tone I heard?" She put her hands to her hips.

"Course not Kags. I knew I shouldn't have gone off with you today. See something bad always happens with you." Sango decided to take a seat at the table.

"Are you saying I'm bad luck?"

"At least you didn't break anything this time around."

"I resemble that remark dammit. That was an accident and whatever is going on this time isn't my fault." She exclaimed. The miko sat down beside her friend. "So much for living a normal life. Sorry."

"Not your fault. I don't think either of us would know what to do with a normal life." Sango laughed.

Kagome placed her chin in her hands leaning on the table. "You're probably right. I haven't seen normal in years. I hope gramps didn't run outside."

"Oh you can bet he did." Sango pictured that, "Then promptly ran back inside and slapped a few of those wards on the door.

"And you just know, when the creatures don't come inside he's going to think he's done something historical." Kagome laughed.

"Do you really think this is the time to be laughing?" Hiei walked into the kitchen.

"Better than crying." Kagome stated.

"Please don't." He snorted. He grabbed a drink out the fridge and glanced over at them. He eyed Sango first, trying to figure out what had the fox so enthralled. Sure she was pretty, seemed to be a decent fighter also. He turned his sight on the other girl, he couldn't figure her out.

Everyone else walked into the kitchen, the other two females took a seat. Kurama stood next to his mother, "I think we should all stay inside until we find out what is going on."

"Great idea, do you think we'll be able to learn what is happening?" Keiko asked.

"Someone should be trying to contact us shortly." Hiei took a sip of the drink. "Until then we stay inside."
