Disclaimer:
I do not own InuYasha, nor make money from this story.
Chapter one
A/N: This is my second fic and was requested after my last one was read by another friend of mine. So yes here I am once more submitting another fic for another friend. (Knowing my luck this is how most of my work submitted here is going to be.)So I hope you enjoy this and I did try my best to stay in character as much as I could. So sorry if they go in and out at times.(Creative license?) I did try my best to keep everything as true to the characters as possible.
Now as for the name of Kagome and InuYasha's child; Yasashiku roughly means Gentle, polite... neither of which InuYasha is, so I thought I'd name him that for humour sake as well as it sounding nice anyway. (Some friends also commented that it sounded like a name Kagome and InuYasha would give to their child anyway.)
Lastly:
I would like to give credit to my friend Jessy who helped me correct and revise this first chapter a few times. Without her I probably would of mess it up big time. So thankies lots and love you much girly.
Anyway enjoy this new fic of mine:

Descendent of the Girl.
-Chapter one-
Family life and the dilemma.
Six years had past since the defeat of Naraku and things were a lot more peaceful than they were, with him and the Shikon no tama and its shards were around. However demons still plagued the lands far and wide, and still carried on terrorizing poor humans or fighting over territory. Which kept InuYasha and Miroko on their feet and with money to support their wives. However it kept Sesshomaru busy, to the point where he decided Rin would just be better off living on a permanent bases in Edo where she had now become a miko in training, under Kaede and Kagome.
He knew even though his brother was an incompetent halfwit at times, he and his pack would do a good job looking after her and keeping her safe. In his eyes he had seen them as worthy from the moment InuYasha was made farther and he was made uncle... of which he still had mixed feelings over and wasn't made any more comfortable when his two year old nephew had taken to calling him 'Uncky Sessy', and always wanted to be picked up whenever he saw him. But he tried not to let it bother him too much. After all the birth of this pup was an unusual blessing that had calmed and mellowed his hot tempered half breed brother, so he wasn't such an immature pain in the ass any more. For which he was grateful for, since it meant he didn't have to sneak around to visit Rin without dreading confrontation. It also meant he could stay longer, without he and InuYasha getting into pointless fights over nothing. Instead the fighting was replaced by a little bundle of joy that some how managed to get away with what not other demons could, without being slaughtered by the daiyokai. Hell even Rin didn't do what the little pup did to poor Sesshomaru.
Yup things on that side of life were finally not so bothersome for him any more, and he could get on with looking after his territory, without worrying about Rin's safety or well-being so much. All in all a lot of pressure had been lifted from his shoulders in that regard. However it didn't make much difference to his duty's as lord of the Western lands. He still had to solve disputes and rise to challenges of those who dared to try and take his birth right from him. But that was as complex as it got these days.
-------------------------------------------
It was coming close to night as the silver haired demon lord approached the village of Edo. The sun had vanished from sight leaving but the beautiful display of orange/red hues with a few visible stars and half moon in the almost cloudless sky.
He was barely standing on the outskirts and without even lifting his nose he could smell the scents of them all, and could roughly locate where everyone was. After fully locating her scent he took a short cut though the forest to the shrine knowing that from her scent Rin would be there soon. In the mean time he just hoped his pain in the ass brother didn't bother him and that for once he could see her in peace, without their time being interrupted.
“Ah Lord Sesshomaru I see ye have decided to grace us with ye presence again.” Kaede said with a wide smile as he walked from the bushes onto the shrines grounds.
“Yes things are quiet and I thought while they were I'd pay Rin a visit. Moments like these don't last for long.” He replied in his usual soft and smooth tone.
“Ay that be true... so how long does ye-” Was all the elderly miko could say as she turned around to see that Sesshomaru seemed to vanish. “Where did he go off to in such a hurry? I sense no demons around” She pondered aloud. Seconds later the reason for the lord's sudden disappearance was answered, and arrived sooner than he had anticipated.
“I smelledid uncky Sessy.” Said a small child's voice from the steps.
“So do I son... lets see if our noses are right, in pin pointing big uncky Sessy's whereabouts.” A familiar voice replied, followed by small excited clapping hands and a child's giggles.
“InuYasha I thought you were suppose to be taking the child for a bath?” Kaeade inquired.
“Yeah well the little one smelt Sesshomaru and we all know how much they love to see each other.” He replied with a wicked grin coming to the top of the stairs. To which Kaede just sighed and shook her head, knowing full well that once again InuYasha was out to annoy his brother with his son.
She knew the silver haired demon merely put up with his nephew's antics, out of sense that he was family and but a child that didn't know any better. He also did want to let anything get in the way of his visits to Rin, since he had grown attached to her as she did him, and it would be unfair to just leave her just because his brother was being irritating.
As much as InuYasha had grown up it didn't stop him from behaving immature at times or using his offspring as means to annoy the hell out of his half brother. Kaede often wondered in amazement at how much the demon lord was willing put with so much torment from the child. She knew I anyone else even dared to try and do half the things the child did, they wouldn't be moving.
“I smelledid uncky Sessy but he no here.” The silver haired toddler pouted, with his small ears flat to his head, clearly disappointed in his 'Unckies' absence.
'That's because he is hiding from us.' InuYasha thought to himself as he chuckled a little. “I don't know about you son but do you think we should-”
“Go take a bath like mummy asked daddy to do, before she got back.” Kagome said as she walked from the opposite side of the forest with a basket full of herbs on her back, along with a teen miko who carried a similar load. InuYasha gulped and turned round to see his wife and Rin, giving him a glare so cold it would freeze a volcano.
In the old days this would be the point where Kagome would utter the word to sit, and the half demon end up eating dirt. However once they were married the rosary around his neck was removed, so now the worse he got from her was a slap round the face or a glare that would scare the mightiest of demons. Not as bad but still enough to make him not want to piss her off in a hurry.
“Yes that is what I was just about to say mummy.” He said he said in a nervous tone.
“But... but... I smelledid uncky Sessy and wanted to lookie for him and and-”
“Now now Yasashiku you need to have a bath like a good little boy. Other wise uncle Sessohmaru will think you smell bad and not want to visit us any more.” Kagome cut off the child. Sure it was a fib but even games InuYasha played on his brother(although funny) needed to stop at some point, and always seemed to enjoy dragging their child into it.
“Ah kay...” He replied as InuYasha began carrying him back down the stairs.
“You are such a big fibber...” He mumbled under his breath to his wife as he past her. She just replied with a victory smirk as she watched him dash carefully down the stairs with their child in his arms.
“Sesshomaru it is safe to come out from hiding now.” Kagome called out as she walked towards Kaede. Right on cue the daiyokai stepped out from the bushes. “I was not hiding. I simply forgot Rin's gift...” obviously lying, but with a demeanour like his… it was hard to tell for those who didn't know him personally.
In all the years Kagome had known him, she knew Sesshomaru was not good at lying. He could try to hide it all he wanted, but his behaviour and eyes were the dead give away. It didn't stop him trying and in an odd way it was quite amusing in these instances.
“My lord you have returned!” Rin said in an excited and cheerful tone as she dropped the basket on the floor and rushed into his arms, making him stumble slightly at the force of the hug.
“Yes I have...while things are quiet.” He said as he put a hand gently on her soft thick onyx hair and began stroking it slightly, as if she were a pet.
“Please stay for longer this time... I haven't seen you in over a month.” The teen miko said as her hazel eyes met his golden orbs, with a pleading look that no man could resist.
He let out a soft sigh, before looking over at Kaede and Kagome, who just stared at him wondering if he would stay longer than a few hours like the last few visits. Which had been called short due to territory arguments on his turf.
“I can't guarantee anything... but I shall try and stay at lest a few nights this time.” He said with a deep sigh, knowing he'd probably regret agreeing.
“You...You really mean it my lord?” Rin asked with her eyes wide and lit up, showing just how similar she was to that small child he took in all those years ago.
“Do you know me to lie about such things child?” He asked with a deadly serious look on his features. She replied by burying her head into his chest and snuggling him firmly like he were a long lost teddy bear.
“So I guess we'll be making up extra food and a bed.” Kaede said as she picked up the basket Rin had dropped, and began following Kagome down the stairs.
“Thank you but there is no need miko. I have never had need of one on my past visits. The ground has been my bed for many a year so I don't see why that should change now.” He replied not wanting them to go out of their way just because he was around, especially knowing he may have to leave at any moment.
“Oh hush Sesshomaru. You aren't here that often and I'll make sure InuYasha and Yasashiku behave themselves, while you are here.“ Kagome said before disappearing from his vision.
“If you must insist” He sighed, knowing he'd never win in an argument against her.
As the two priestess' left Rin released the silver haired demon from her affectionate grip and sat on a bench nearby, patting a space next to her. He slowly walked over, sat down next her and smiled lightly. A rarity that anyone else wouldn't be lucky to even see. No the only two people he allowed to see such a thing were her and Jaken. And even then the little demon toad got nervous at the type of smiles his the western lord allowed to grace his features.
For what seemed forever the two sat in silence just enjoying the view of the barely sunlit village, from the heights of the shrine, and soft sound of the forest around them being softly blown by the gentle breeze.
“So how has your training with lady Kaede and Kagome been coming along?” He asked not taking his eyes away from the peaceful view.
“I now know all the herb names by heart, what they do and how to make them into potions, lotions and balms... although I still don't fire arrows as good as Kagome.” The teen miko said smiling at the demon lord.
“That is good to hear. I am sure you will master the bow in no time. You just have to keep practising.” He told her.
“I know I know... I still wish I was good as Kagome. She can kill a demon in one shot... I saw her do it with my own eyes yesterday. It's blood and guts splattered EVERY where!” She said in a very excited tone flailing her arms in the air simulating an explosion.
It seemed the little girl he once bought back from the dead was no longer a girl any more. Within a few short years she had grown into a teen and almost a woman. Sesshomaru had forgotten how quickly humans aged to what was to him a short time.
For him time almost froze and it took at lest fifty years or more before his kind began showing any signs of ageing. Before they hit their late teens they aged like any other normal human and were very similar. However after that time slowed and the world and everything around them happened so fast.
“Very nice” He smirked. Finding it some what amusing that Rin's fearlessness around demons as a child hadn't worn away.
“It was so awesome! If only I could do the same.” She sighed. “Then I could be useful and travel with my lord like I used to.” She said as she suddenly turned him, with hazel eyes lit with hope.
Sesshomaru merely raised a brow not sure of what to make of or how to reply her comment. The very reason he had her stay in this village wasn't just to be safe, but also to leave a normal human life and be happy. Not travel with him and risk having her in harms way. However learning the fact she was processing so fast left him with mixed feelings. Sure it was nice that she as growing up and becoming a powerful woman who could defend herself, but to him the fact she was doing to be with him felt wrong. He wanted her to live independently and not in his shadow.
He didn't bother answering her semi question, instead he dug into his white silk kimono and handed her a hand sized coal coloured box that had a green ribbon on it, which she happily took. After all she was used to being given gifts by the daiyoki whenever he visited by now.
She carefully took the ribbon off and opened the box to find a beautiful jade comb, that had patterns of ivy along the top. Obviously this had been made by hand, a lot of care and hard work, to make such a beautiful and expensive looking object.
“Oh it's beautiful thank you!” She gasped before hugging him tightly, truly grateful for such a wonderful gift. She laid her head against his shoulder examining it in greater detail while turning it gently in her fingers.
“I would give you nothing less Rin.” He replied as he calmly watched her as she toyed with the gift.
He wasn't sure how long he would keep visiting her like this but knew sooner or later it would have to stop. He felt like he was holding her back from the human life that she had a right to live, since all she seemed to do was stay in the village and do as she was told in hopes that one day she could travel with him again. He didn't want to give her false hopes or hurt her in anyway. But he knew either way it was going to be a hard decision he had to make at some point, and the sooner he did the better.
After a while of fiddling with the comb Rin put it away carefully in its box before closing her eyes and enjoying them moment she knew wouldn't last for long. But she wanted to treasure this moment with her lord while she could.
As she rested against him she felt at peace and calm. There was something about him being there with her that made her feel safe, secure and loved. Something she never felt when she was meditating in the shrine, or by the river. No this was something different and she wanted it to last forever, until the day she died.
Sesshomaru sighed gently as he watched her in her rest, before turning to watch the sun disappear and the dark sky, with the stars and half moon appear. He wouldn't ever admit it but he enjoyed the rare moments of relaxation like this, and there was something about being with Rin that made him feel like he could tolerate things more. More precisely his idiot brother and that damn equally annoying child.
It felt like forever by the time the sky changed, but he knew it was time they should head to Kaede's hut. Even though he knew the girl wouldn't want to.
“Rin... it's time we headed to Kaede's hut. Everyone is expecting us and we can't stay out here all night” He said softly before rising.
“Awww... okie.” She replied in a slightly disappointed tone.
The two of them then began to walk down to the village, which was only a small walk and he could smell five of the scent's he smelt earlier were gone. When they reached the bottom of the stairs the teen miko then dashed ahead into the hut, and even though he was a few yards away he could hear questions of why she was back so late, where he was and what was in the black box.
“I am here and sorry we are a bit delayed. Time seemed to go by so fast we lost track.” The demon lord said as he entered.
“Are you sure it's because you didn't want to see your nephew awake Sesshomaru.” The hanyo teased with a playful grin.
“InuYasha be quiet and leave your poor brother alone for once.” Kagome scolded as she served the young girl some of the rabbit stew. Knowing the daiyokai didn't eat human food. Well as long as she had known him anyway.
“Fine whatever... ” He said with a semi-glare.
Sesshomaru just ignored his brother and watched the fire in the middle of the room, but shortly after small conversations sparked once in a while about Rin's progress, story's of monster slaying adventures with Kagome and InuYasha and what he did while he wasn't there. Not every story but some of the short one. Then after an hour;
“Since you haven't asked but I know you are curious; Sango, Mikoru and their kids went back to her village, as they do once a year to visit Kohaku.” InuYasha said before he went to pick up Yasashiku.
“No you don't I will take him.” The onyx haired mother said before picking up their son gently enough not to wake him. She knew if her husband did it would mean hours of hell for the demon lord.
“Keh... fine.” The half breed grumbled before sulking out of the hut towards his home.
“Night everyone.” The priestess said with a gentle smile before leaving with their child.
Sessohmaru just ignored his brother once again and gave a slight nod to Kagome while Rin and Kaede returned the good night.
“It's late and I think we should all get some sleep.” The old miko said as she went to bed.
“Can I stay up a little longer with my lord? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease” The teen pleaded.
Kaede let out a soft sigh as she pulled the cover over herself. “Fine just don't stay up too late and don't be too loud. I need to sleep too you know.” She said before turning over.
Rin grinned widely as she snuggled up to the demon lord.
Sesshomaru knew he had no say in the matter and that he wouldn't be able to change her mind. She may still have held some of her child obedience but had developed a good intellect that was able to come up with good arguments to back what she wanted. He wasn't sure if it was trait of his that had rubbed off onto her or not, but he thought it was a good thing none the less and it often amused him when he saw her use it.
The ebony miko looked up at daiyokai with a wide smile on her face before she nudged her head under his arm right arm and snuggled into his chest. He didn't bother stopping her, since he was used to her doing this for a while now and he didn't see any harm. The both of them just sat there in silence just watching the fire flames dance, listening to the wood crack, and not speaking a word. But after but few minutes Rin was lightly snoring, indicating she was asleep. Sesshomaru carefully picked the teen miko up in his arms and slowly moved her to her bed. As he began to put her in bed she stirred a little and called his name softly. The demon lord wasn't quite sure what to make of this since this was a new thing for her to do. He tried not to think about it and almost by instinct she cuddled up to one of his arms and rubbed her head against it a few times before settling once more. He then put the cover over her before brushing the hair from his face, as he watched her sleep for a few moments, before slowly removing his arm from her grasp. To him no matter her age she always looked beautiful as any other demon who took human form to him.
Sesshomaru himself never used the term 'beautiful as an angel' since he didn't believe in the holy angel creatures humans seem to speak of and thought excised. He knew they were demons who took on the forms the humans seemed to describe. He also knew these were bird demons that were different from others who terrorized and had manners that disgusted him. No they were more friendly than he, but held the same honourable manners. They also seemed to prefer human company over their demon brethren and rarely bred with their own kind, and chose to more so with humans. The latter was the only thing that put him off even going near or communicating the race. The fact they were openly admitting to mating with humans and had no shame in doing so, and cared for them over their own was in his eyes disgusting. He also believed it made them unworthy of the name demon and the blood that ran through them. No he thought it rather appropriate that they weren't considered demons and given the pet name of 'angel' by the very thing they mated. But at the same time he found it rather amusing that they never revealed that they were actually bird demons and kept up the romanticized delusion the humans had created.
After a short time he left the hut silently and stood outside it for a few moments feeling like he wanted to take a walk and clear his head, but before he did;
“What are you doing out here? And don't tell me you are considering taking a walk or watching the stars.” InuYasha said only loud enough for his half brother to hear. He didn't want to disturb the whole village... especially Kagome.
“I don't think that's any of your business.” Sesshomaru replied as he began to walk away.
“Well I think it is. You haven't been here in over a month and for all I know you could be sneaking off again, like the last few times.” He said as he jumped from the roof of the hut, landing but inches away from the daiyokai.
“I do not sneak and I assure you I will be doing no such thing.” The demon lord sighed.
“Well why are you out here?” InuYasha pressed
“I refuse to discuss or get in a debate over my actions. Just let me be.”
“No”
The western lord didn't feel in the mood for any talk or confrontations with his half brother, so he simply walked towards the shrine with InuYasha following closely behind.
Not a word was uttered between them. Just pure silence as they walked up the stairs and through the forest until they reached a waterfall with a small lake surrounding it.
“Making sure I keep to my word half breed?” Sesshomaru sneered obviously saying it to push the hanyo away.
“I am going to pretend you didn't just call me that...” InuYasha grumbled and decided not to resort to violence like he used to. “Sesshomaru... what's wrong?” He asked bluntly.
“The only thing wrong is I wish for you to leave me.” He growled.
“Don't lie... for the past few months you haven't been your usual self... you are shit at lying and we all can tell when you do.” He replied knowing now they weren't round Kagome and Yasashiku he was free to cuss all he wanted.
Sesshomaru just let out a big sigh, torn up inside and trying to find words “This discussion does not leave this place...” He warned.
“Fine just spill it...” The hanyo said becoming increasingly inpatient with his brother delaying.
“I can't visit Rin any more” He said as he sat on a nearby rock.
“Why? What's happened?” InuYasha quickly asked in a very concerned tone.
“Nothing... it's just becoming increasingly difficult to see her, and after what she said to me tonight it has made me feel that I should stop seeing her.” He sighed heavily not feeling comfortable speaking out of character like this.
“Whoa wait... you're not telling me she-” The half breed asked wide eyed and expecting the opposite answer to what he got.
“No no no... nothing like that.” Sesshomaru snapped knowing what his half brother was thinking and felt insulted he would think such a thing.
“Then what?...just say it... the suspense is fucking killing me here.” InuYasha growled clenching his fists, fully prepared to give the demon lord a good right hook if he kept up the dramatic suspense.
“Shut up for a second and I will... you have no idea how difficult and awkward this is for me now quite... Ok she basically told me she was training hard and doing what she was told in hopes of being useful and travelling with me again.” He replied feeling slightly better he got the biggest issue that had been plaguing his mind for the past year, off his chest.
“What's wrong with that? As far as I can tell she has become a strong girl and would survive fine.” He asked not quite understanding what the issue with Rin's wishes were.
“I want her to live a normal human life... if she travels with me she will never have that chance.” The daiyokai replied as he turned away from InuYasha and watched the fish swim in the lake.
“What do you mean?” He asked still not understanding the problem.
“I don't have a home and travel across the lands all the time. If she travels with me she will never find true happiness and will never get to live her own life... I have no right getting in the way of that.” He said as he sighed heavily once more.
“And you think not seeing her any more will solve this problem?” He asked as he raised a brow.
“It's the only option I see” Said Sesshomaru seemingly emotionlessly.
“Sesshomaru is your head that far up you own fucking ass?” InuYasha scoffed
the western lord's unflinching gaze locked onto the hanyo, “Hold your tongue half-”
interrupted unwilling to let his brother retort, “Like fuck I will... do you not think she will be unhappy if you do this? It will tear her apart and break her heart.”
“If it means she finds happiness then so be it” said Sesshomaru dismissing his brother’s outburst.
InuYasha couldn't think of anyway to continue arguing with his brother over the issue. In the years he had been allowed to know his brother more he had come to tell when he had made his mind up about something. And when you had no way in hells chance of convincing him other wise.
“So will this be permanent or what?” InuYasha asked returning to a relaxed state.
“No...” Sesshomaru replied bluntly.
“For how long then?” The hanyo continued.
Sesshomaru did little more then blink “Most likely until she finds herself a mate.”
“That could take forever or not even at all.” He said plopping down next to his brother. InuYasha then looked to the sky.“There’s no way of talking you out of this is there?” He asked while already knowing the answer. “When will you tell her?” he asked with a sigh.
Sesshomaru eyed the hanyo wondering why he was so emotionally involved in a matter not his own “Before I leave...not now.”
“I understand that one... I can't stand it when I see Kagome crying... makes me feel like shit.” He replied softly as he looked at both their reflections.
“At least we feel the same on one thing.” Sesshomaru smirked.
“Keh don't get used to it...” InuYasha grinned as they entered one of the rare moments of peace between themselves.
“I won't any time soon...”
“Good...”
The brothers then just sat there together in silence and looking at the stars. Moments like these were very rare indeed. But for the first time in two hundred and fifty nine years the western lord needed someone to confide in and his half brother seemed the only choice to open up to. He had never dealt with this situation before and he knew InuYasha had made such tough emotional decisions many times, while this was the first time he had dealt with such a thing...

A/N:
I thought for the lols I'd have it so InuYasha wasn't aloud to swear around his son, but once he is away from them he swore like no tomorrow to make up for it.
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. Please rate and comment.
Edit:
Sorry for those who read this once. I was half a sleep and it was 2amish when I posted this up, and hadn't 100% looked it over properly... so I have been corrected it in places.
Edit take 2:
Thanks to Diane for pointing out I spelt Sesshomaru's name wrong throughout the whole thing. Until you bought it up I never saw it and no one else who has read this has said anything about it. So thanks once again for pointing that out. x.x *curls up and dies of embarrassment*

Sesshomaru just ignored his brother and watched the fire in the middle of the room, but shortly after small conversations sparked once in a while about Rin's progress, story's of monster slaying adventures with Kagome and InuYasha and what he did while he wasn't there. Not every story but some of the short one. Then after an hour;
After a short time he left the hut silently and stood outside it for a few moments feeling like he wanted to take a walk and clear his head, but before he did;
“What are you doing out here?
