Chapter One

The couple walked along the road, hands clasped tight. Both enjoying the brand new morning, the new day that awaited them. The group was silent as the sun rose high in the sky, blanketing the land with it's light. It appeared that today was going to be another long day of searching with no signs of the hanyou they were searching for. Several weeks had gone past since they'd last seen any sign of Naraku. Inuyasha had finally been able to master the Tetsusiaga, it was only a matter of time before their enemy met his demise.

Kagome turned to smile at the man she loved, her first love. For months he'd been debating, confused about what he wanted. Last night everything had changed for them, they were together now. She could finally be happy with him, once this was all over. He would destroy Naraku to avenge Kikyou's death. He'd informed Kikyou that he couldn't keep his promise, he was going to stay with Kagome. The undead miko had understood, finally giving up her need for revenge against the man she loved. Kikyou had spoken to her reincarnation, asking her to live the life she herself had been denied and Kagome planned to do just that. Now, all that was needed was to finish off Naraku and all his minions.

The young girl felt the young kit move around her shoulder getting comfortable. He would be staying with her and Inuyasha. Sango and Miroku were also talking about starting a family once it was all over. Seemed everyone would be able to have their happy ending. The only sad thought hanging over their shoulders was those of Kohaku and Kikyou. Both of them would have to die in the end. Kikyou's body was slowly giving out on her and Kohaku would die when the jewel shard was removed. Kikyou said that they both accepted that they would die and were willing to see the end of Naraku.

The small group stopped for lunch shortly after noon, near a small stream. Kagome got up to refill her canteen, the water cool and refreshing. It felt good going down her parched throat, the day was getting hotter. A shadow fell over her blocking the sun. "Yes, Inuyasha."

The hanyou grabbed her shoulders as she stood up to meet his eyes. He pulled her close, she went willingly into his embrace. No words were said as he brought his mouth down to hers, pressing his firm lips against hers. Kagome closed her eyes and returned the chaste kiss, putting all the love she felt behind it.

"Inuyasha?" She pulled back when he hissed in pain suddenly, his fingers tightened on her flesh. Worry filled the angelic face, concern etched in every line. The hanyou took a few steps back, putting distance between them. What was causing him to be in pain? "Inuyasha, what's wrong?"
The others heard the fear in her voice and rushed over to see what was happening. Kagome felt the sudden tugging of her soul, the calling of the jewel. Shards were close, so close they had to be coming from the hanyou in front of her.

"Get away from me, now!" Inuyasha had felt the sharp pain enter his back. Whatever it was, his back was on fire from the pain. Something was happening to him, his eyes fell to the girl looking at him in concern. "Get away Kagome."

"It's jewel shards, I can sense them." Before she could turn him around to remove them laughter rang from over head. A figure suddenly appeared out of thin air, smirking as he floated over head. Kagome eyed the man, if she hadn't known better she'd have said it was Naraku but the aura was all wrong. Seemed another one of his offspring had come to play with them.

The man that greatly resembled their enemy smiled, showing even perfect teeth. The voice belonged to a little boy, the body to a full grown man. Inuyasha drew his fang, ready to protect his friends and Kagome. "Yes, draw your sword you pathetic hanyou. You are a waste of space, a creature that is beneath even me. I will kill you, I will sing as you take your last breath. First, Naraku has ordered that I see to the death of your friends. I, myself, would have prefered to feel my claws sink into their flesh but Naraku has other plans for them."

"I don't know who you are but you're going to die," Inuyasha decided to take care of him in one blow. The fang transformed quickly, ready to do battle for it's master. "I'm going to kill you with one swing."

"Afraid not, we must get rid of that fang." The man started chanting, smiling at the look of confusion on the hanyou's face. Everyone gasped as the sword suddenly snapped in half, the sound filling the air. For several seconds no one moved, unaware of the danger they were in. "Did you really think he'd send me here just to die? Your fang is no longer a problem, without it you are helpless. Now prepare to serve us, Inuyasha."

Kagome took a step forward hearing his distressed intake of breath. The back of her mind picked up what she thought was more chanting. Sango's cry as she released her weapon was heard but she blocked it all out. Her concern for the hanyou now panting in front of her. The three jewel shards began to glow, embedded into his back. The darkness made her cringe seeing them trying to contaminate her love. "Inuyasha," She cried to him when a fierce growl began to echo from his chest, warning her not to come any closer.

Horror filled her eyes, when he turned to her. No longer was the man she loved but the full youkai he had once longed to be. The stripes on his cheeks, the blood red eyes and long fangs was testament that he'd transformed once more. She was too stunned to move when his hand shot forth striking across the shoulder. Her scream of pain was heard as the razors cut her tender flesh.

Miroku turned from the offspring to have one of his worst fears realized. Inuyasha had transformed and just attacked the woman he'd sworn to protect. "Inuyasha, No! Snap out of it, Kagome we need to get him to change back." His eyes fell on the broken fang, laying discarded on the ground. "Sit him, stop him."

Kagome fell to her knees, shock filled her. Her hand came from her shoulder, the crimson stain filled palm. Tears filled her eyes, "Sit." It was lightly spoken but he heard her. Disbelief filled her as it started the familiar tug. He still stood, fighting off the spell trying to get him to down. The soiled shards glowed, as he fought against the spell. Finally, the strain snapped and he righted himself only moving a little over an inch downwards. His eyes fell on the girl that had tried to subdue him. No longer was the hanyou she loved. Whatever spell the offspring had cast, along with the destruction of the fang; was enough to allow Naraku to control his beast. She wasn't sure how to get him back.

Miroku ran for him when he watched him bring his hand down to slap the girl across the face. "Don't make me hurt you." He wrapped his staff around his friend trying to hold him off from injuring the girl. His eyes widened in shock when he found himself staring into blood red eyes. His mouth opened in pain when something hard slammed into his chest.

Kagome turned from her position on the ground to see Inuyasha pull his hand out of the houshi's chest covered in blood. Bile rose in her throat as he brought the bloody claws up to his mouth. A pink tongue came out to lick the live giving fluid off. Miroku fell to the ground a stunned expression on his dying face. "No, Miroku!" She got to her feet desperate to stop him, hoping there was still a chance to save her friend. First, she had to get Inuyasha back. A thought crossed her mind, she ran up to him. Her mouth landed on his, trying to bring him back. It had worked before maybe it would this time.

A growl sounded from him, Kagome felt like crying when it didn't work. He was too far gone, three things working against him. "Kirara, get them out of here now." Her head turned to see the neko grab the small fox and take to the air. Sango was further away, fighting with the offspring unaware of what was happening. Claws suddenly dung into her shoulders, the pain causing her to cry out.

Sango turned around to see Kirara taking a screaming Shippo to safety, while Inuyasha had ahold of Kagome. Miroku was laying on the ground, not moving. Worry filled her as she watched the hanyou throw her best friend on the ground. "Inuyasha, stop." Leaving the offspring she began to run over, wanting to stop what was about to happen. Before she could get close enough, her world turned dark.

Kagome looked past the enraged hanyou, in time to see the offspring throw the blade. It struck her friend in the neck, then she fell. "Sango!" Worry for her friend was soon replaced with fear for her own life. Inuyasha was suddenly on her, his tongue gliding over the clawmarks along her collarbone. "Please, don't do this." The pink muscle dug into the injured fleshing causing blood to once again ooze out.

She heard laughter, her hands going to push him off her. Knowing that he'd hate himself for what he was about to do. Her fighting stopped when a fist impacted across her jaw snapping her head back. She fought to remain aware but spots appeared before her eyes. "Inuyasha, please come back to me." His answer was a growl, tears fell from her eyes. She felt his clawed hand pushing up her skirt, cutting the soft skin along her thighs. Something hard was pressing against her leg, his fingers found the cotton panties. The sound of it tearing caused her to panic, her body left the ground trying to dislodge him off her. A clawed hand wrapped around her throat slowly cutting off the air supply to her lungs. The hold loosened when she became more docile, exhaustion making her give in. His knees forced her legs apart, his hand was between them. A whimper escaped her when something hard and smooth was placed at her entrance. "Inuyasha," His name was whispered followed by her scream of pain as he entered.

Kagome felt like she was being torn on the inside, he was shoving himself into the unprepared passage. The hold tightened on her throat, the fight was lost again. He pulled out, the relief only lasted for several seconds before he drove back into her. She could barely make a sound past the hand clamped down on her windpipe. The pain was severe while he rocked within her, tearing her walls from the brutal intrusion. The smell of her blood seemed to entice him, driving him into a frenzy. He groaned over her, panting from his exertion. The sound of him slamming against her flesh was heard along with malicious laughter.

She didn't think the pain could get any worse. He proved her wrong when he picked up his speed, the friction soon became unbearable. Even the blood didn't help ease the penetration, from the fast thrusts. Everytime he fulled imbedded himself he hit something inside her. It was being hit constantly as he pounded into her, using his youkai speed. He growled when she began to cry hysterically, not liking the sound. His mouth came down to bite the tender flesh along her bottom lip. He sucked on the blood, a content growl escaping him.

Kagome felt her world spinning around her, he gave a hoarse cry as his body stiffened over her. She stobbed sobbing, trying to reach him once more. "Inuyasha," The hand tightened on her once more at his name being spoken.

"Kill her, Inuyasha. Do as I say, destroy the girl." The offspring smiled, pleased with the display. The shards on the hanyou's back had turned even darker, the color now a pitchblack. There was no going back for the man, he'd just harmed the woman he loved. His mind would never allow him to remember what he'd just done.

Kagome screamed as loud as she could, his clawed hand rose up ready to bury itself deep in her chest. He was aiming to remove the heart she had given to him out of love. The weight was suddenly lifted off her as a foot connected with his side. The force behind the blow sent the hanyou flying through the air to land several feet away. She looked up the white pants, knowing who now stood beside her. Tears streamed down her face, her body to bruised and injured to move. Confusion filled her when he went over to pick up the broken hilt of the Tetsusaiga, the ward never activating. He walked over to her and placed it on her chest, without ever looking down.

Sesshoumaru looked at the thing his brother had become, was there any salvaging his mind. His eyes roamed over the human girl still laying prone on the ground. What had forced the hanyou to resort to such violence? The fang had been broken once more, his blood had taken control of him. His eyes found the offspring that reeked of his master. "Die," Sesshoumaru went for him, he scowled when his brother got in the way. "Out of my way, Inuyasha." His fist hit the boy's face knocking him back to the ground. He would try to salvage what he could after he'd taken care of the cause.

Kagome lifted her head, trying to see what was happening. She tried to cry out when Inuyasha landed on the ground. Darkness filled her vision, stopping her from seeing the rest of the battle. A strange feeling consumed her, the air around her pulsed. Her eyes closed as her hand wrapped around the hilt holding it for comfort.

Sesshoumaru drew the Tensiaga, the hanyou charging him once more. "Stay down," He hit his brother once more, sending him into a nearby tree. His eyes went back to the offspring, rage filled him. The bastard had fled while he had the chance. Sesshoumaru turned to see what could be done about his brother. His eyes widened once more, him and the girl were gone.

The ambulance raced down the street, the sirens wailing. The two men in back tried to stop the bleeding, the girl moaned. As soon as they pulled up into the parking lot two nurses came rushing out. The girl was placed onto a stretcher, onlookers gawked as they emerged from the hospital. The double doors opened allowing them to enter, victim in tow.

"We got severe bleeding from a chest wound, some internal hemoraging as well." They went to work on her, trying to keep her alive.

Several hours later she was emitted into the small hospital, the doctor came in. "Poor thing, where is the woman that found her?"

"In the waiting room, sir." The nurse went back to filling out the chart, watching the girl sleep.

The doctor went into the waiting room of the E.R. and looked around. A slender middle aged woman approached him. "Hello, I take it you are the one that found the girl."

"Yes, my name is Shiori. Please tell me, is she going to be okay?"

"Yes, she'll make it. Do you have any idea who the girl might be? We can't find any form of identification on her."

Shiori shook her head, "No, I was on my way home and saw her stumble out into the road. I stopped the car and ran up to her. She fell down before speaking, I didn't see anyone else around."

"Very well, let me get your information. The authorities will be wanting to speak to you, then you can go home and wash up." He eyed her clothes which were covered in the girl's blood. "You can call back in the morning to check on her if you wish."

"Thank you doctor, I'll do that."
