Author's Note! So I thought this was a pretty vague but sweet idea and wanted to give it a go, being a Kouga/Kagome shipper and all. Hope you all like & please leave me a nice review. It would make my day

Chapter 1: Just Friends
Kagome opened the door to her family home, shhiffled inside with Sango a step behind her and kicked her shoes off before leading her friend to her bedroom upstairs.
"I'm home!" She called out to anyone who might hear as she shuffled up the stairs.
The 18 year old high school senior was petite with shoulder length black hair and crystalline eyes. Her friend, Sango was the same age. She had longer brown hair and was a few inches taller. Her toffee-colored eyes reflected strength and pride. She had a slender, toned body and considered Kagome a younger sister even though they were the same age. Kagome was mature but inexperienced and naive. Sango looked out for her.
The two girls entered Kagome's room and each of them dropped their heavy bookbags on the pink carpeted floor, stepping over the books that spilled out in front of them. Sango took a seat at the desk while Kagome dropped bonelessly on her bed.
"Why do we get assigned so much homework?" Kagome whined into her pillow, "I don't even mind doing it, it's just carrying it all that I have an issue with! My arm feels like it's gonna fall off!"
Sango rolled her eyes and flipped through a magazine that she found on the desk. "You're just complaining because your boy toy wasn't around today to carry everything for you. He's turning you into an over-priveleged child with limp noodle-arms."
Kagome shot Sango a dirty look. "I asked you not to call him that." She replied hotly, "Kouga has a name so please use it. He would be furious if he knew about that particular endearment."
"Ayumi, Eri and Yuka call him your boy toy." Sango pointed out.
"I asked them not to, too!" Kagome hissed. "He isn't my boy-anything so please just stop!"
Kagome turned in her seat to give Kagome a knowing look."He's your best friend I thought."
Kagome frowned. "So are you."
Sango sighed. "Kagome, come on." She said dryly, "You know he likes you."
"He's my friend." Kagome answered robotically, as if she were programmed to say that. She had defended her "friendship" with Kouga so many times before. Sango knew she was in denial about his ever-growing feelings for her but she doubted Kagome's innocence on the matter and felt the need to set her best friend straight.
"I'm your friend too, aren't I?" Sango baited.
"Of course!" Kagome replied seriously.
"Do I come here and help you with chores, buy you things, give you rides and call you every night in order to establish that?" She asked meaningfully.
Kagome groaned. "I told you before! Kouga likes doing that stuff! That's just the kind of person he is, okay? He's a nice guy!"
"I don't see him doing that for anyone else." Sango pointed out.
Kagome shrugged. "He and I are close. He would do the same for any of his good friends."
"I'm so sure." Sango muttered as Kagome's phone buzzed loudly. She watched Kagome leap up and fumble in her purse until she retrieved her cellphone and put it to her ear.
"Hey, you." She answered playfully. Sango wanted to gag. Kagome was leading this poor guy on whether she knew it or not and she didn't want Kagome to be hurt when he decided she wasn't worth the hassle anymore. She and their other friends had tried many times to tell Kagome that Kouga's feelings went deeper than a friendly level but she just refused to see it, whether because she really valued his beneficial friendship and didn't want to ruin it or because she really and truly was that naive. Whatever the case, it was hard to believe she was completely innocent when she giggled and flirted shamelessly with him.
"Oh, tonight?" Kagome was asking into the phone. She glanced at Sango as if asking permission. "I don't know. Sango's sleeping over. I promised her we'd have a girl's night and.."
"Oh, let him come here." Sango said. She knew Kagome actually wanted to see him. Whether she knew it or not, she liked him too. Maybe she just wasn't ready to be more than friends with anyone yet. Her lack of experience with boys could be reason for that.
"Great!" Kagome squealed into the phone, "I'll see you in a little while then!" She smiled and hing up.
