Peaceful days

 

Naraku had been defeated, and Kagome had returned from the future to the Feudal era to be with Inuyasha. Things were peaceful, as of late. Rin was currently learning under Kaede, on how to live with Humans again. But very soon, now, it would be time for Rin to choose which life she wanted to live. She had to make the choice for herself.

It had already been seven years since Naraku's defeat, and Rin was fifteen years of age now. She would make her decision that night, on her fifteenth birthday. It was a day in the early Spring, with all of the flowers blooming, the leaves on the trees budding, and those weren't the only things that were growing. She was growing as well.

Sesshomaru arrived around noon, as he always did. He would be getting her decision today, he knew. He had left his armor and swords off today. He was going to give her a surprise for her birthday--seeing him look completely different. He had on a black kimono that had orange dragons embroidered on the left shoulder, the belt was orange, red and yellow, and his hakama were also black. His hair was up in a high pony tail--for the first time, to boot. He resembled his father so much that he had been shocked to see himself in the mirror. But he wanted to look different for her, for some odd reason. She had been changing so much, he supposed that it seemed to her as if he never changed at all. 

He waited outside, and Kaede called to Rin that he had arrived. Kaede stepped outside first, and her eye widened in surprise. "Well, isn't this unexpected. Ye sure did dress up for the occasion, Sesshomaru."

"Hn." Was Sesshomaru's only response. Then his Rin stepped out of the hut, in a lovely orange kimono with bright yellow and green petal patterns stitched on it. His heart seemed to pound at seeing her. He immediately admonished himself for even getting such a notion.

"Lord Sesshomaru," Rin's voice had changed even more from when he had last seen her. She had long since lost the childish side pony tail and her hair was left free. She finally took a real look at him, and her jaw dropped. "My Lord! Your hair! Your kimono!" She smiled a beautiful smile for him. "And you have no armor or swords? You look....so different, Lord Sesshomaru! You look even more handsome than usual!"

His pride swelled at her praise, and he was glad that his makeover was such a hit. But now, it was down to business.

"Rin. What do you choose?"

She faced Kaede. "Thank you, Lady Kaede. You have been so gracious and kind to me, and I have learned so much from you. But...I still do not feel comfortable around the humans, and Lord Sesshomaru has always been here for me. He has never missed a visit. I want to go with him."

"I understand, child. I just wanted ye to get the chance to learn to live with humans, in case ye needed it."

"Thank you for everything, Lady Kaede." She gave Kaede a hug. "If you will allow it, Lord Sesshomaru, I will grab my things and I will follow you."

Sesshomaru nodded his ascent, secretly relieved that she had chosen him. There had been several men in the village who had asked to court her, and to try to be suitors for her, but he had been very relieved for her to turn them all down.

She returned momentarily, with all of her things, and after a goodbye to Inuyasha and Kagome, Miroku, Sango, and their children, they left. 

"Kagome is going to have a baby soon, Lord Sesshomaru. May I return to see it when it has been born?"

"Hn." He nodded his agreement. 'Now,' He thought. 'Back to the estate, and I can get Rin settled in. There is much to be done.'
