Fight or Flight

InuYasha growled to himself.  There was a million other places he'd rather be than stuck in this crevice with Sesshoumaru.  The sun would set soon, and he knew he would be dead.

 

Sesshoumaru glared at InuYasha and shifted in the tight spot.  There were thousands of places he would like to be.  Scratch that, he would need to be.  Though In this demon infested area, the best place for him to be was right where he was.  He sighed as he heard InuYasha's growl.

"Growling will not get you away from here. It is just best for you to suck it up, InuYasha."  Sesshoumaru spoke in a cool voice.  "I understand you do not wish to be here, the feeling is mutual."

InuYasha struggled to gain a foothold on the rocks.  He figured that if he could climb up a step or two,  maybe they could climb out.  Sesshoumaru wrapped his arm around InuYasha and held him in place.

"Hold still.  If you make the wrong move, you could kill us both." Sesshoumaru hissed in InuYasha's ear.  "Give me some time to think"

Sesshoumaru sighed as InuYasha moved again.  They had been stuck here most of the previous  night and all day.  He could imagine that his younger brother was hungry, tired and stiff.  He felt the same.  He also had another pressing need to tend to, but he tried to ignore it.

"I gotta take a leak, you idiot.  It's your fault we're stuck here." InuYasha's rant was cut short as he felt Sesshoumaru's claws in his scalp. "Get your fucking claws off me, jackass"

"InuYasha, I am as cramped as you are.  I am hungry,  I am tired.. and I need to relieve myself, as well."  Sesshoumaru's voice had lost it's cool edge and took on a warmer tone. "I understand how you feel, but we.. we have to work together."

 

Sesshoumaru held a sleeping InuYasha against him, wishing he could do the same.   They had crawled together for a bit, and finally had worked up to a ledge.  They just had a short bit to go before they could fully climb out.   He felt bad for InuYasha, as it was the night of the new moon.  He climbed until he could no longer move.  He shifted his weight and climbed up a few more feet when InuYasha's violet  eyes opened.  He could feel him trembling.

Sesshoumaru knew that sooner or later his younger brother would no longer be able to control his body.  At this point,  his own body was boardering on on critical.   He tightened his grip on InuYasha and sprang out of the crevice.  They landed in a heap next to the  deep hole as InuYasha groaned.   Sesshoumaru's eyes widened in horror as he realized what happened. 

InuYasha untangled himself and darted into a cave.  Sesshoumaru got up and followed him, a threat on his lips.  When he saw the younger man, the threat died on his lips.  Their eyes met, and they each had a secret on the other. 

 

And Sesshoumaru knew then there was no way he could ever fight his brother again.
