The little girl ran as fast as her small legs could possibly move. The wolves were right behind her and were gaining on her. She knew, somehow, if she could reach the Inu demon that she had met then he would drive the wolves away. Seeing his downed form in the distance, her hope rose and so did her adrenaline.

Sesshomaru, lord of the West, full blooded son of the great dog demon, was current trying to figure out what had gone wrong. His younger half brother had managed to violent remove his arm. How he did that was something that the full blooded demon couldn't understand. His thoughts were interrupted by a small body crashing against his chest. He growled seeing that it was the same human girl that had found him a couple days ago. This was another thing he couldn't understand. Why did this small human child insist on being his company.
Once again his thoughts were sidetracked by the sound of snarling. Sesshomaru turned his gaze to see that he was now in a semicircle of wolves...hungry wolves. He sniffed lightly and noted the scent of human blood all over their coats.
'If they've had their fill of human flesh, why would they bother in chasing after one more human girl?' Sesshomaru thought. One of the wolves barked and this annoyed the full blooded demon. In response, Sesshomaru, knowing that it was somewhat beneath him, barked back, his eyes flashing red. The wolf sat on his haunches studying the demon. Then in chorus, the entire wolf pack howled.
"Calling for your Alpha I see...this should be interesting." Sesshomaru muttered while the little girl covered her ears. out of a tornado, a wolf demon appeared.
"What's going on here? I'm trying to find more shards!" the wolf shouted. "I don't need to be coming to your rescue whenever there's a problem..." the wolf stopped feeling that pulse of demonic aura. He turned and saw the white haired demon with the girl clinging on to him as if he were a life line. "Who the hell are you?"
"Insolent Alpha, do you know not who you speak to?"
"Oh great, another high and might Alpha dog...what, did my wolves' scent offended your nose?"
"That, and the fact that they wish to eat this girl."
"You know, you dogs are all the same, you think you are better than us wolves just because..."
"I am better than you. I did not need to steal the sword of a human seeing I have my own sword, even if it's my father's fang."
"You interrupted me!" the wolf shouted.
"You were made Alpha at too young of an age. Your young shoulders cannot handle the strain. And you seek the shards of that damnable jewel?"
"I do."
"Then you do not deserve to be Alpha. If you cannot fight your enemies with your own power then that proves just how weak and feeble you really are."
"Weak?! Feeble!? Ok pal, I've had enough of your mouth, so, I'm going to finish the job that was started by whoever took your arm!" the wolf shouted and lunged at the dog demon, only to find out that the dog demon he was trying to attacked wasn't as wounded as he was letting on.
"Even more foolish. Had you bothered with checking your senses instead of being so focused on capturing the Shikon jewel, you would have been able to tell that I was fully recovered from my wounds." Sesshomaru said after deflecting the attack from the young wolf demon effortlessly.
"Bastard, who are you!"
"I am Sesshomaru, lord of the Western lands, but I guess your tiny brain couldn't hold that information if any member of your demon pack had bothered in telling you." he answered now standing. Rin was not clutched at his leg.
"Sesshomaru huh? I'm not impressed."
"You soon shall be." Sesshomaru returned.
"And I Koga will not be bullied by a dog that only knows how to bark out big words!" Koga shouted and attacked again, this time hoping to kill the girl thinking that it would hurt the dog demon somehow. In a flash, Tenseiga was out and had parried the strike from Koga. Sesshomaru had done this without thinking about. He knew he couldn't fight with the girl weighing his leg down, even if her weight wouldn't matter. Koga, however, was bound and determined to hurt her thinking that it would hurt him.
"On my back, now." he quietly commanded Rin. Obediently, Rin climbed onto his back and held on. "Now, let's see you get behind me." Sesshomaru challenged and the two continued to fight.

Miroku felt the demonic aura. That particular demonic aura was very familiar. He didn't know if he should tell Inuyasha or not, but if Sesshomaru was in the area and was fighting something then he better let Inuyasha know.
"Your brother's demonic aura is broadcasting itself." Miroku reported. "He's back to fighting strength.
"What? I cut that bastard's arm off! How could he be back up and fighting!" Inuyasha ranted and took off picking up the scent.
"Miroku!" both Kagome and Sango shouted at him at once.
"Hey, he'd just be more angry if I didn't tell him." Miroku defended.

"Not so easy is it!" Koga growled.
"Hmph, I'm not even taking you seriously." Sesshomaru replied.
"What?!" Koga let out. "How dare you not take me seriously!"
"If you wish to die that badly..." Sesshomaru said and demonic energy built from within the sword. "Then have a taste of my...dragon strike!" he finished and Koga barely dodged the attack.
'He didn't use that on me during our last fight!' Inuyasha thought after coming upon the battle. Then, something that he'd never thought he would ever see caught his gaze. There was a little girl that was clinging onto his brother's back.
"Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" he asked the others as they had finally caught to the hot headed half demon.
"Do you mean Sesshomaru fighting that wolf demon or the fact that that there's a little girl on his back?" Miroku questioned.
"Uh, I don't think that's any place for a little girl." Kagome let out.
"If he wanted to kill the kid then he would have already done it." Inuyasha spat.
"Inuyasha is right, if Sesshomaru wanted to kill the child then he would have already done so." Miroku affirmed.
"Dragon strike!" Sesshomaru called forth once again. Koga, now knowing that he was outclassed, fled with his wolves trailing after him. "Bah, what a waist of my effort."
"Y'know, toying with your prey is a bad habit. That's for cat demons." Inuyasha taunted. Miroku sighed and tensed up ready for another battle.
"I have no desire to challenge you again, Inuyasha. Besides, that wolf that I dispatched is after your precious Shikon jewel. A waist." Sesshomaru.
"What? another one after the jewel!" Inuyasha shouted.
"The jewel is useless. It only brings trouble to those that covet it." Sesshomaru said disgusted with his brother's need for the jewel.
"What will you do with that girl?" Kagome demanded.
"I am slightly disappointed Inuyasha, the slayer is more fitting to be your pack's Alpha female than the one in the odd outfit." Sesshomaru let out and with that, took to the skies.
"Bastard." Inuyasha growled.
"I believe that the small child is in capable, if not as desirable, hands." Miroku commented and Inuyasha growled. He didn't care about why a small girl was hanging around his brother. All he cared about was getting the jewel back.

This was bothering me so I decided to write it and get it out of my head. Let me know what you think of it. For now, it's a one-shot, but I could be convinced to continue it with reviews and ideas for continuing it.
