Lord Sesshoumaru
A/N: I always picture Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha as real dogs and that Kagome is estranged owner, because each time Inuyasha open his mouth I had this feeling that he is really barking at Sesshoumaru. Its kind of make sense since they both ARE dogs but it is also kind of silly. Which is the birth mother to this idea. Hope you guys enjoy!
Prologue
“Kagome! Come here girl!” Mr. Higurashi called on his eight years old daughter. Kagome giggled as she run toward her father. He smiled at how enthusiastic his daughter is. He pulled her hand and lead her to one of the cages that keep the dogs from running around. Tomorrow, his little girl will turn nine and he feels that the time has come for her to learn on being responsible on others.
He lead her from one cage to the next, allowing her to study the dogs and choose the one that she likes best. He pointed to a cute terrier for her, “He’s adorable. Why don’t you choose him?” He encourages his daughter. The girl shakes her head, “He look so small. I want one that can be my guard!” She exclaimed, looking up at her father with big, blue eyes. The older man wiggled his eyebrows at her, “Really? And why would you want a guard dog?”
“So I won’t be scared when I’m alone,” She answered. Mr. Higurashi frowned at her answer, “And what makes you think that you will be alone?” He wondered if it’s a omen or something. Being a psychologist, he have learned that children are very specials when it comes to instinct. He didn’t know why, but it is better to listen to them sometimes. Maybe it is because their soul are still pure that they are able to connect to the energy around them easily. Kagome answered, “I don’t know. My guardian angel told me to find one that can protect me,” Mr. Higurashi smiled, or perhaps even that. He continued to point out potential dogs, but this time one that can protect her. Kagome shakes her head again and again, even when he pointed out a blood hound for her. Mr. Higurashi frowned, “Do you really know what you want, Kagome?”
Kagome nibbled her bottom lip, looking around. She scowled, “None of them feels right,” Her father frowned. Kagome always has a strange knack for feeling things spiritually. Maybe it’s because her grandmother is a priestess, who knows? Mr. Higurashi petted her soft blue black hair fondly when the girl look down, “Don’t worry, girl. We can come back tomorrow and see if there is a new one for you in here,” He sooth her. Kagome smiled at him, “Okay!”
The rain pelted heavily against the van. Mr. Higurashi is having a hard time looking out in the heavy down pour. Kagome yawned next to him, “Are we home yet?” He chuckled at her whining. The girl can be impatient when it comes to traveling. Suddenly, a large shadow appeared right a few meter from the moving car. Fortunately, Mr. Higurashi have been driving rather slow since the rain are too heavy. He stopped a few inches from it. Kagome strained her neck, “What is it?”
Mr. Higurashi unbelted himself to get out of the van, “I don’t know. Something big and white, I think,” He hastily run through the rain to see what would be lying in the middle of the road in such a weather. It is lucky that hardly any car travel this road in such a weather. His house happens to be at the top of the hill, which is why he have no choice but to go through the rain if he ever want to get back home before dinner. Mr. Higurashi kneeled next to what appeared to be a large dog. Larger than any that he have ever seen. It look heavily injured but the soft rising and falling of its chest shows that it is still alive.
Picking up the injured animal, he bring it into the van and place it at the back. Kagome peeked, “What is it? Is it hurt?” She asked worriedly. Mr. Higurashi nodded, “Yeah! It’s a really big dog! Never seen one like it. I wonder if it’s a hybrid?”
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Kagome stared at the giant white dog in front of her with large luminescent eyes. The dog are still unconscious because the veterinarian had given it a sedative that cause it to fall into a deeper state of sleep. She blinked when the dog’s long ear flapped softly.
Timidly, she traces the strange stripes that adorns its jaws. Two magenta stripes adjoining at the end of his lips. Sharp and deadly fangs peeked between his black lips. But the most curious thing about the strange dog would be the blue moon on it’s brow. She traces that one too. The texture of its fur were exquisite! Soft and silky, fluffy even! The dog has a mane that run from it’s right shoulder, over its back and down it left hip and beneath its long body to connect with the one on its right shoulder. The mane were fluffy and soft, but a bit grey in color if compared to it’s silver fur. There were also fluffy grey furs at the side of its paws, making it look as if it has white, fluffy flame adorning its paws. Kagome idly wondered if it has an owner. If it doesn’t, she wanted to keep it.
She bet that when the dog is clean of blood and wounds, it will be the most magnificent dog in the universe! Her fingers tingled again. It has been doing that ever since her father brought it into the van. Kagome’s fingers always tingled when it has something to do with something special and magical. She could have sworn that it sometimes glowed pink too. But of course she wouldn’t tell her father this, he would freak out! Much as open minded as he is, Kagome were sure that seeing his daughter’s hands glowing isn’t part of his cup of tea.
Mr. Higurashi watch as his daughter stroke the dog’s blood caked fur with caution and interest. He wondered if Kagome wanted to keep him. If so, then does the dog have an owner? He can tell that his little angel is already attached to the dog.
Kagome watch as her father attempted on cleaning the giant dog. It filled the whole tub the moment Mr. Higurashi place it in. The hot water were turned on and he showered the dog. The dog growled softly in annoyance when he attempted to shampoo it. It sneezed, the growling grew louder still.
Fortunately, it didn’t wake up.
It is the next day that it wakes up. It stared at its surrounding and sniffed. Kagome watch it with deep, child like interest from her bed. The dog turn around and growled at her, ears back and fur puffed up in a threatening way. Kagome blinked, stretching out her hand in an invitation. She smiled at him, “I’m not going to hurt you. Me and my father found you hurt, so we help you get better,”
It stared at her, its growling has stopped. Tentatively, it approach her and sniff at her tiny fingers. Kagome giggled, her sudden movement cause the dog to jump back and growled at her. She grinned, “I wonder what to call you,” She mused. She sat stiff on her bed and stared at it. It look like a killer, a cold blooded killer. Strange how the thought didn’t revolt her. Instead it appealed to her in a different way, telling her that the very idea is its true nature. A beast is always a killer. It is the way of the wild. Kill or be killed. She had learn this when she saw a cat killing a bird at school.
It is beautiful and perfect. Like a lord, a nobility. A prince. Kagome can just imagine it sitting on a throne, looking over thousands of dogs that is its subjects and servants. She decided to call it by the name that have formed in her mind. It sounded so perfect for the dog. She grinned, “I’m calling you Lord Sesshoumaru. The Lord of the Killing Perfection because you look just like it!”
“A Lord, eh? Interesting title to give to a dog,”
Sesshoumaru growled viciously at the intruder. Mr. Higurashi raise his hands up to show that he is without threat. The dog cease growling. Kagome jump off her bed and hugged the dog, surprising him. She snuggled against his strong neck, “Aren’t he’s protective, father?” She petted the blinking animal with fondness, “I bet that he will be my greatest friend ever!”
“Yeah. I’m sure that he’s your guardian angel too, huh sweetie?” Mr. Higurashi petted his daughter’s head. When he shooed her to take a bath, he look at her new pet. Sesshoumaru were still sitting stiff, looking at the direction that his daughter had disappeared to. The man sighed, “Bright girl, isn’t she?” He mused. The dog look at him with it’s strange red eyes with green pupils. Mr. Higurashi kneeled in front of the dog and said, “I have this strange feeling that you are more than what you seem. Now that I think of it, the old scrolls on youkais has a picture of you. If you are really who I think you are, can you please protect her? Kagome is more than what she seems herself,”
He look around before leaning into the dog’s ear and whispered, “She is born with a powerful artifact within her. I want you to protect her life and that artifact, because if she dies and the artifact falls into the wrong hand, then everything will be over,” He look at the serious looking dog. Mr. Higurashi stared into its crimson eyes before sighing, “Or maybe you are just a regular dog with a strange unknown pedigree,” He muttered.
That morning were spend with birthday presents and cakes. Mr. Higurashi has long been separated from his wife, who had a son with her new husband. Kagome is his daughter, but with a different woman. The marriage with his first wife crumbled because she couldn’t except Kagome as part of the family. Her mother died giving birth to her. Which is why Kagome has blue eyes instead of Japanese muddy brown’s. Mr. Higurashi loves his daughter beyond anything. Cherishes her like the treasure that she is. Unfortunately, her life will be in constant danger.
Kagome is born with the Shikon Jewel within her. The artifact is very powerful and very dangerous if falls into the wrong hand. He knew that an enemy is after his daughter’s life, which is why he wanted to buy her a pet. What he never expect is that Kagome has a priestess instinct that tells her to buy one that can protect her life. If the dog named Lord Sesshoumaru is really who he think he is, and not because of the name Kagome unknowingly called him because according to the ancient scrolls, that IS his name. Mr. Higurashi is ready to bet on his very own life that he is the best protection that Kagome can ever have.
Now. If only he can persuade the stubborn dog to protect her…
He stared at the dog that wouldn’t play with his daughter no matter what she do. Sesshoumaru returned his stare with an icy glare, full blast. Mr. Higurashi scratches his head, upsetting his hair as he straighten up, “Lord Sesshoumaru. How did you become a dog?” At the warning growl, he corrected himself, “I mean I know that you are an inu youkai, but how did you turn yourself into an almost ordinary dog?”
The growl turn silent and the dog stared at him with a bargaining eyes. Knowing that whatever happened to the prince of dogs will have something to do with a curse, Mr. Higurashi rubbed his hands together as he hoped that the bargain will work to his favor. He look at the dog, “Well, tell you what,” He straighten his back, shifting nervously, “Kagome is a priestess, although she didn’t know this and she isn’t train to be one. But I am sure that if you feed on her pure priestess energy enough to break whatever curse that plague you, you will be able to return to your true form. It might hurt you, her energy. But if it helps, then I am sure that it worth a try. In exchange, I want you to look after her. Is it a deal?”
He stretch out his hand to the calculating dog. Sesshoumaru stared at the outstretches hand for a long while, making the man before him think that he wanted to chew on it. After what seems like an eternity, Sesshoumaru place his giant paw on the man’s hand. Mr. Higurashi smiled, “Then it is sealed with honor,”
Mr. Higurashi knows that if a deal is bound with any other with a youkai, then it is easily break. But never when it comes to honor. Youkais are proud creature and they cherish their honor more than any treasure in the world. If their honor is threaten, then if you get away with your life consider yourself lucky. That means Sesshoumaru is now bound to protect and watch after Kagome as he would his own pack.

~One Year Later~
Kagome snuggled against Sesshoumaru’s neck, quivering with grief. She had come back from school one day only to find her home burn down to the ground, her father charred bones collected on a white stretch. Rain pelted down on the truck’s roof as the vehicle bumped on the road. Sesshoumaru stared at the ceramic jar in her hands. The jar that is the remains of her father’s ash. She is looking at it with haunted eyes.
“We are here!”
Kagome look up and outside the window to see a cozy cottage with smoke’s coming out of the chimney. She is now in a small town named St. Joseph in America. Kagome’s only living relative that will take her in. Sesshoumaru stands on alert. If the human that will take in charge of her is looking forward to hurt the girl, then she have him to face with. Kagome look at the alertness in Sesshoumaru’s eyes, ready to protect her. He is the one that her father threw out of the window, saving her precious friend while he himself perish inside the burning house. It’s been told that he get Sesshoumaru’s out just in time before the house collapsed on him. There are also signs that there have been s struggle in the house before it was burn. The broken flower pots and some of the thrown out vases and lamps speaks much.
The believe were strengthened when they discovered some injuries on Sesshoumaru’s body. Kagome pulled him closer when the truck stopped and park on the lush green carpeting of the front yard. The door opened and her supposed aunt, her mother’s sister greeted them. Greta Simmons reach out for her little nephew and pull her close, “Oh, baby!! My poor girl! Come in, I make you some hot chocolate,” She pulled the small girl inside her house, A blast of warm air hit Kagome’s almost frozen face. When Sesshoumaru pawed his way inside, Greta stopped him, “Animals stays on the outside,”
Kagome stopped her, “Please. Let him stay with me. He’s the only thing that father left for me. Besides, he’s house trained. I promise you that he wouldn’t give you much trouble,” She begged as she bowed low. Kagome will go as far as to prostrate herself before this woman that will be her guardian to have her friend inside with her. It is only fair since he is always inside with her back home when her father is still alive. The thought stings and when Greta saw the tears, she sighed, “Very well. You don’t have to cry, girl. I’m sure that he is as well trained as you say he is,” She look at the straight backed dog. He is looking at the two with a look in his eyes that she has never seen in any other dogs before, and it is not because of the strange coloring either.
Letting go of the girl, Greta smiled gently at her, “Now why don’t you go to your room and see if you like it?” At the girl’s nod, Greta turn to the kitchen to readied the chocolate brew. Sesshoumaru followed her into the kitchen, just to be sure that she is not up to something. Greta eyed the dog, “You don’t think that I am going to kill her, did you?” When the dog replied with a slow blink, she shake her head, “You must be joking!” She then look at him. Sesshoumaru quirked an eyebrow at her. Greta blinked. The dog have an intelligence that surely most others dogs doesn’t have.
When she finish mixing the ingredient and poured the mixture into two cup and leave it to cool down a bit did Sesshoumaru leave her. Greta shake her head. He is a strange dog, and not just the size and the unrecognizable pedigree. She is sure that he something more, but she isn’t so sure of what he is. Great had notice the stiff and proud posture that he have as he sat in the kitchen to watch her work.
Sesshoumaru pawed up the stairs and follow his nose to find Kagome. The little girl sat crying on her new bed, her father’s ash on the bedside table. He approach the girl silently and sat waiting for her to acknowledge him. Kagome peeked at her friend with red eyes, her nose puffy from crying so much. Sesshoumaru growled with disagreement. Kagome giggled, she always had a feeling that Sesshoumaru is really talking to her whenever he make a sound. Be it growling or barking. He never whine though, not even when the paramedics found him limping and injured.
Stretching out her arm, she signaled for him to come to her. Sesshoumaru look at his paws to see if it is clean enough to jump on her bed. He scowled at the dirt between his paws and rush off to clean it in the bathroom. After a moment, he dried it up and jump onto her bed. Kagome buried her face into his fluffy mane, sobbing softly. She whispered, “Don’t leave me, Lord Sesshoumaru. I couldn’t bear to loose you too. Promise that you will stay?” She look into his crimson eyes, “Please?” She pleaded, a bead of salty tears rolling down her cheek.
He stared at her for a moment before reaching out with his muzzle to lick her tears away. Kagome take the action as a ‘yes’ from him.
A/N: Sesshoumaru is a LITTLE BIT OOC here but I have no choice since a guardian dog. Hooo...Hooo.... I want fluffy Sesshy!! Why can't have a doggy like Sesshy?
