Forever

This seemed so natural; Just the two of us.

Sitting on my favourite branch in our tree; the Sacred Tree.

This place, where we first met, I would never tell her that this as my favourite place to be. I would never let her know just how sentimental I was.

My hair was blowing in the wind, it was nice. This moment would stay with me forever.

Her head was leaning lightly on my shoulder, her eyes closed and a small smile lay on her sweet lips. She looked so happy.

“InuYasha,” She spoke softly, “Can I ask you something?”

Her eyes were still closed. “Anything,”

She sat up slowly, bangs covering her eyes which were staring at the floor. A slight blush adorned her cheeks.

“Would you … would you do me a favour?”

“Kagome what is it?” I spoke; my voice was still soft as I leaned a little closer to her. I gently placed my hand over hers, giving it a reassuring, but light, squeeze.

“I was … I was just wondering, uhm …” Her voice trailed off and her blush deepened.

I waited patiently for her answer.

“Could you,” She peeked at me from under her bangs, “Could I … Kiss you?”

My heart beat sped up dramatically as I heard her speak. Was she being serious? Before I could stop it, I spoke, “What?”

My voice as shocked and low, though I knew what she wanted it was just … an impulse reaction.

“I-I mean you don’t have to. I was only saying since as … I … I’m sorry.” She spoke in a flurry and finally directed her eyes at the ground once more.

“Kagome…” I took her chin between my clawed fingers as I spoke, turning her to face me. Her cheeks were bright red; I could just imagine the comical colour of my own.

I leaned in closer to her; I could feel my heart pounding in my ears. It felt like it would pop out of my chest.

Her lips were a hairsbreadth away from mine, her eyes closed as she waited. I hesitated for a moment before finally pressing our lips together.

The kiss didn’t last too long, only a couple of seconds, before we parted. We looked at each other; she was smiling as was I.

I tried with all my might to will my mouth to move, but it wouldn’t. I wanted to tell her how I felt, though I doubt she didn’t already know.

Before I could speak, our lips collided in another sweet kiss. Her lips parted and I plunged my tongue into her moist cavern.

This kiss was slow and passionate. I poured everything I felt for her into that one kiss.

When we pulled apart, I noticed just how close we had gotten and for the first time realized that her arms were around my neck, my hands on her waist.

We just looked at each other, smiling once again. This moment was indeed perfect, but there was only one thing missing…

“I … I love you Kagome.” I had finally said it. I could see tears in her eyes and her smile grew wider as she tightened her arms around my neck and returned my words. And I knew that she meant them, she always had.

This moment would last forever;

Along with my love for her.
