Torn
AN:/ OKay, so this little plot monster has been running around in my head for a LONG time. It is a songfic and I'm sorry if that bothers people. Uhm lets see, oh yes. It is very dark and there is a character death that I may be crucified for but it needed to be written. SO consider yourself warned.
THIS IS DARK!
Anyways, I would also just like to say that italics are flashbacks while bold is song lyrics. I hope you do enjoy it for the writing if nothing else. Anyways, without further ado, I present to you:
Torn
I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm
He came around
And he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Kagome reached out to touch the strange dog ears that graced the boy’s head, delighting in a girly way at how adorable they were nestled in the mane of silver hair. She stroked them lightly, causing them to twitch; Kagome jumped back, startled, but the boy hadn’t seem to have woken up.
“Glad I got that out of my system…” Kagome let out an exasperated breath. Here she was fondling the poor guy while he was defenseless when she should be looking for a way home. Sinking to her knees she sighed.
Everything had been so much easier back then, Kagome thought numbly. She couldn’t feel the pain anymore, which she supposed was a good thing. Even the feeling that her heart and spirit had been completely broken disappeared. Unless that was what this numbness was. Turning her face away from the unexpected light shining from the open doorway, she was met with a dark liquid that smelled of metal and death. It was then she realized that she was lying in a pool of her own blood. She laughed bitterly against the floor, sending small flecks of blood flying a couple inches across the rough surface.
Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know
Or seem to care
What your heart is for
I don't know him anymore
She supposed this is what she deserved for running away but still, it hardly seemed fair. How was it fair that after having her heart already broken, she as captured and tortured for three days. Kagome had felt some satisfaction though; she was broken before Naraku could derive any pleasure from breaking her.
InuYasha had been acting strange again; ever since they had seen Kikyo’s soul collectors flying around the tree of ages. Then one night, he had disappeared. Kagome had known that he had gone to see Kikyo and that anything she would see would just hurt her. But… Kagome knew Kikyo’s true nature; knew the jealous and spiteful spirit that lay within the clay and bone figure. She knew the nature of the beast because it was the same one that lay within her. She hated herself for it, but she was jealous of the affection that InuYasha held for the undead miko.
Tiptoeing her way through the encampment, she was careful not to wake any of her friends. Sango slept peacefully curled up in Miroku’s arms, the lines of worry and concentration smoothed away in the bliss of sleep. Kagome was bemused as she witnessed Miroku caressing Sango’s bottom. Heh, still a lecher in his sleep, Kagome thought. Maybe his hand really was cursed. She had winded her way through the forest, dodging grasping branches and sharp thorns. Frowning, Kagome followed an eerie blue light that got brighter as she neared the tree where she had first met InuYasha. Hearing voices she paused briefly, feeling like a voyeur to their secret meeting. Just as she resolved herself to move forward, InuYasha’s voice rose loud enough for Kagome to hear his words.
“…I could kill Kagome. For your love,” InuYasha had practically snarled. A gasp escaped Kagome’s lips causing Kikyo and InuYasha to quickly spin around.
“Kagome?” he asked slowly. She didn’t answer him; it felt as if her tongue had grown thick inside her mouth becoming a useless wad of flesh. Instead she turned and ran; ran as if the hounds of hell were upon her.
There's nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing’s right
I'm torn
Kagome blinked slowly. She needed to turn, to take her weight off her bound hands but it felt as if her entire body was made of lead, unresponsive to her silent pleas. Even though she felt complete devastation from the rape of her innocence, a few tears still seeped from the corners of her eyes.
“I’m all out of faith, this is how I feel. I’m cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor. Illusion never changed into something real; I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn.” She whimpered as her breath sliced against her cracked lips. How long had it been since she had any food or water. It felt like it had been days; days she had spent tied to a wall in Naraku’s castle. Days she spent being tortured… just so InuYasha would suffer. Kagome laughed again humorlessly; even when he wasn’t here, he still caused her pain.
Kagome was lost; even she could figure out that much. She stared up at the dark canvas of green that hung over the forest floor. Small spots of sunshine sparkled through, the beauty of the scenery completely lost on Kagome. All she perceived from it was that it was still day and she would have several hours before nightfall; and this was one time she ran away that she didn’t want InuYasha to catch her. She hadn’t realized that she had spoken aloud her desire until a voice answered her.
“So, you don’t want that dirty little half breed to find you? You know, I can’t really blame you; he is quite disgusting after all,” the husky voice sent shivers up Kagome’s spine. She knew that voice and dreaded it every time she heard it.
“Kagura,” Kagome replied coldly. “I don’t recall inviting you to join my pity party.”
Kagura laughed delightedly at Kagome’s cold sarcasm.
“You’re correct, of course. But I make it a habit of mine not to wait for an invitation,” Kagura retorted. She understood why Naraku wanted to get his hands on the little miko; feistiness in any woman had always pleased him because more than anything, he enjoyed breaking them. “Speaking of invitations, I must extend one to you on behalf of Naraku. He desires your presence at the castle.”
“Well then I suppose you’ll have to decline for me,” Kagome offered back, her relaxed banter concealing the terror she felt. Kagome had been captured by Naraku before but she had never been so terrified as she was now. There was a subtle threat in Kagura’s words that caused her heart to freeze. Kagura laughed again, her deadened scarlet eyes sparkling with delight.
“We knew you’d say that. Dance of the Dragon!” Kagura caught Kagome in her deadly whirlwind, sharp rocks and stones being dragged in. The jagged edges sliced across Kagome’s body and face, causing welts and bloody scratches to tarnish her pale skin. A particularly large rock collided with the back of Kagome’s head and the pain and her vision diminished.
A shadow appeared in the doorway, long hair being lifted by the gentle breeze. Kagome was not afraid, but expectant of pain to come. It was when there was no pain that Kagome felt shock. It was then she noticed the spiked ears on top of his head. She glared resentfully at him. You’re a little late, I’m already torn.
“Kagome,” he whispered, horror etched into his face. He rushed forward falling to his knees in front of her, gently lifting her into a sitting position. A moan slipped between her lips as the insufferable pain shot through her body; she was grateful however that her hands had been freed of the weight of her body. InuYasha held her head to his chest, stroking her hair gently.
“What have they done to you?” He asked quietly. They tortured me because I ran away from you, she thought to herself. Kagome couldn’t bring herself to be angry with the hanyou though. How could she when she thought that he would soon end her suffering so he could be with Kikyo. She pulled away from him weakly but he let her go. As soon as she was supporting herself, Kagome realized her own weakness and fell to the floor. InuYasha cut her bonds with his claws and placed her gently against the wall.
“InuYasha,” she slowly tested his name on her lips but found it still too difficult to speak.
“Don’t speak right now Kagome.” She looked up at him, unable to help the tinge of anger that spiked in her chest.
So I guess the fortune tellers right
I should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
But you crawled beneath my veins
And now, I don't care
I have no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things
That I can't touch
I'm torn
Kagome woke to a pounding at the back of her head and a raw feeling in her wrists. She was vaguely aware of a growing pressure on her arms as she hovered above the ground. She tried to take in her surroundings but the room she was in was too dark to see. Her hearing sharpened with the lack of vision and she heard deep breaths coming from the other side of the room.
“Who’s there?” she asked tentatively. Kagome’s voice sound terrified to her own ears and she cursed at herself. A dark laugh came from the other side of the room and she realized her companion was Naraku. She heard something slither across the floor like a snake; except it was a controlled movement followed by a sharp crack. She gasped at the sting of the whip’s path across her belly.
“Tsk, this will not do at all. I can’t even see your pained expression or your delicious blood well up as I hurt you… Chishanohi!” Naraku snapped. Suddenly small fires danced about the room, lighting up the passive face Kagome held for Naraku and the malevolent grin he offered her. He wants to break my spirit, she thought, but he was already too late. InuYasha had already done his job for him. Although Kagome’s numbness faded to terror as she saw what else he had besides the whip.
“Please, don’t hurt me,” Kagome whimpered. Naraku’s eyes widened in surprise; she was begging him to spare her. He had to admit that he wanted to see her in pain but he also wanted her to fight him. It was always so much more fun when he got to break them as well. He sneered at her.
“What did they do to you?” He unleashed his whip again, cracking it hard against the side of her face, slicing her cheek. She cried out, unable to contain it; when she looked back up at him, she watched as he stared at the blood beginning to run down her cheek, the dark substance contrasting sharply against her skin. He stalked towards her slowly; the red of his iris’s spreading out to consume the rest of his eyes.
Standing right before her, he sniffed at her blood, licking his lips at the smell of her purity. Allowing his toxic miasma to seep into his mouth, he slowly licked her cheek, trailing his tongue slowly along the deep slice in her cheek. Kagome winced as his tongue dipped into the cut, his poisoned saliva burning her skin. A deep unsettled feeling rested in her chest as he lapped at her face. She wrinkled her nose in disgust then proceeded to spit in his face. Naraku chuckled as he pulled away from her, and then slapped her hard against the cheek he had just thrashed with his whip. Then just as swiftly, he proceeded to caress her cheek with his thumb.
“My poison miasma will keep that cut from healing; I wont just hurt you, I’m going to break you little miko. You will be so drained that even InuYasha won’t be able to save you.” Kagome laughed at him this time, although there was no mirth in her laughter. Naraku’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
“What is so funny?”
“That you think InuYasha would actually come for me when he has his dead bitch,” Kagome sneered at him. Naraku felt shocked but showed nothing of it; this woman sounded so bitter and desolate, which made him all the more furious. She had already been broken by InuYasha. That was fine though; he could still take his frustration out on the stupid bitch.
“That is fine enough. You still have enough spirit in you for me to enjoy this.” The corner of his mouth tilted in a menacing smile. He replaced his whip on a hook on the wall, reaching out for an iron shaft with a small spike on the end.
“Chishanohi, come!” He commanded. One of the larger flames that floated around the room drifted towards Naraku and Kagome noticed for the first time that it had a face; well what she assumed was a face anyways. Two black holes rested above a black slash that opened and erupted blue fire onto the point shaft, turning the black iron red hot. Kagome’s eyes widened as she knew what Naraku was about to do.
“No, no, no! Please, please don’t do this.” Kagome hated the fact she had sunken to begging Naraku for mercy. She didn’t even know why she bothered trying – he was a beast that only knew satisfaction in his hatred and in causing pain. Naraku smiled with satisfaction, walking closer to Kagome. He drew the hot spike along her neck, slowly burning the sensitive skin there. Kagome cursed loudly.
“Son of a bitch!” she snapped. His eyes darkened and he drew the sharp hot tip down over her collarbone, across the sensitive skin of her breasts, drawing a hiss from Kagome’s clenched teeth. He pressed the tip to her nipple, burning the hypersensitive nub of flesh. Kagome’s screams rang through the castle, their high pitch startling many demons from there resting place. Pulling the hot iron away, he leaned and suckled viciously on the abused nipple, causing Kagome’s screams to go up an octave. Nipping lightly, he pulled away to look into her eyes which had welled up with tears.
“Chishanohi, if you please.” Naraku held the hot iron out, waiting for the small fire demon to heat it up again. This time when he finished, Naraku took the sharp tip and pressed it against Kagome’s other nipple, pushing it hard, so as to pierce the skin. Breaking through, the skin bubbled slightly as Kagome’s screams died off and she fainted.
“I won’t let you off that easily wench,” he growled viciously. He grabbed the smelling salts from his table and wafted them underneath her nose. She revived, looking blearily at his smug expression. Everywhere on her body ached… When would it end?
He hadn’t stopped there; when he had finished abusing her breasts with the hot iron, he had used thumbscrews to break her fingers, skewers dipped in boiling sulfur to rip of her finger and toenails and lastly a cat-o-nine-tails tipped with blackened shards of the Sacred Jewel. Her body had been so broken, was still so broken, she hadn’t imagined that it could have gotten any worse.
He had torn his clothes off his body and quickly inserted his engorged penis past her virginity and deep into her core. He had slaked his lust on her maltreated body and then had thrown her to the ground to die. His parting words to her were ones that haunted her, repeating themselves in her head over and over again.
“I was a little late, you were already torn.”
I’m all out of faith, this is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You’re a little late, I’m already torn.
“Torn,” Kagome whispered. InuYasha looked up into his golden eyes and felt a spark of hope. Naraku had crushed her body but they had both been wrong; InuYasha had come to save her. Her cracked lips widened into a small smile, all she could really attempt at the moment. However she felt safe in his arms and let that aura peek through.
“InuYasha, get away from her!” A cruel stab of reality seared Kagome’s heart as she heard Kikyo’s voice command InuYasha. She pushed against his chest, closing her eyes so that he would not see the betrayal that filled her eyes. Even when she was broken, he still managed to hurt her more.
There’s nothing where he used to lie,
My inspiration has run dry
That’s what’s going on, nothings right, I’m torn
“Leave me InuYasha; your job is done. Go to Kikyo to collect your reward” Kagome whispered. InuYasha’s golden eyes widened in shock as he stared down at the despondent woman that lay before him, bathed in her own blood. She managed a bitter smile. “That was what you wanted wasn’t it. You could kill me for Kikyo’s love?”
“Kagome, no; you heard wrong! I said that I could never kill you. In disbelief I said ‘to think I could kill Kagome! For your love!’ Kagome… how could you ever believe I would hurt you. I love you,” he said desperately. Kagome’s eyes filled with tears as she stared into his stricken face. Now she knew; she knew that in some way she was different from Kikyo. Because unlike Kikyo, Kagome loved InuYasha and wanted him to be happy.
I’m all out of faith, this is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
Hearing Kikyo’s bowstring creak as she notched an arrow, Kagome made her decision. She looked up at InuYasha, all the emotion she could muster seeping back into her deadened brown eyes.
“I love you InuYasha,” she whispered, a tear rolling down her cheek. With as much force as she could muster she commanded, “Sit Boy!”
As his face met the floor with a sharp crack, Kikyo let the arrow fly, piercing Kagome in the chest. Breathing raggedly, the women shared a look that meant they understood one another’s desires. Laboring to keep consciousness, Kagome spoke this time to Kikyo.
“I’m all out of faith, this is how I feel. I’m cold and I’m ashamed, bound and broken on the floor,” Kagome coughed viciously, blood spraying her abused body. She couldn’t summon the energy to formulate any words as her body pulsed slowly. It was a slow realization that it was her heartbeat slowing that she felt. With one last uneven breath, her heart stopped and she lay broken on the floor.
You’re a little late, I’m already torn.

“Chishanohi, come!” He commanded. One of the larger flames that floated around the room drifted towards Naraku and Kagome noticed for the first time that it had a face; well what she assumed was a face anyways.
