The Forgotten Legend
Chapter 1: The Beginning
This should have been the brightest night of the year, with all of the moons visibly full, but as everyone sat partying,
a woman runs through the halls, pulling a young girl along with her. She runs as if should she stop, she’ll be killed by a force
unseen by all the others around her.
“Mother, where are we going?” the girl asks.
“Hush, little one. Keep your voice down, or we’ll never get away.” The woman answers without looking back, only
stopping to find the quickest route to het destination.
“Does this have to do with that creature that killed Father?” she whispers to her mother.
The woman turned her sapphire eyes to the little girl standing next to her. Unshed tears illuminated in the moonlight.
“Sweetie, don’t worry about a thing; we’re leaving, it’s too dangerous here.”
“But Mother, what about Frère?”
“That creature still has a use for him; he’ll be safe, for now anyway. I’m sorry dear, but there’s nothing that I can do.
We have to leave now, or suffer the same fate as these innocent people here. Your Father was right dear, no one suspects
a thing. Now let’s go, we’re running out of time, we have to get to the dock.”
And with that, the woman takes her daughters hand in her own again, and begin their silent trek down the twisting, winding
halls towards the docks.
Every now and then, the woman would glance out the window, toward the starry sky and pray that they would make it in
time to avoid oblivion. The minutes ticked by as they raced onward. Finally they crept up on the entryway that would
take them to the docks.
The woman turned to her daughter and told her to stay put and to not make a sound no matter what, they could not be
found out. With that, she raced into the entryway, the doors automatically parting, as her long silver hair trailed
out behind her.
After what had to be the longest for minutes of her life, the little girl raised her head as the door parted once more. Her
mother beckoned her and she followed the gesture. Her mother raced toward a capsule, held in place by a chute that
would take it up and away from the doomed planet. She placed her precious daughter inside one, along with a pack
containingtheir most precious possessions. The woman walked back over to a console and input a series of commands.
She didn’t care where it took them, as long as it was away from this place.
She climbed beside her daughter and held her as the computer automatically closed and sealed the capsule.
“Where are we going Mother?” The frightened girl turns her emerald eyes towards her mother’s sapphire ones.
“Away from here, darling. After that, I’m taking us back to my home.”
The girl nods in response. It’s the only thing that her body can do. She’s been overcome with a sudden fear. Taking all
thought but one thought from her mind, the capsule launches toward the last destination entered in the computer. Her
mother sent their ship to same destination as the last, a lonely outskirt planet named Earth.
As their ship launches, a bright flash blinds the occupants, as a terrible concussion rocks their little ship. In fear or what
just happened, the little girl looks out the only window, and what she sees changes her life forever.
The planet she’s lived on the last and only 5 years of her life is gone. Her home, her family, her friends, all gone.
However, she has only one thing on her mind at the sight of such destruction.
“BROTHER!!!” she cries as her mother pulls her into her arms and rocks her child back and forth.
The child cries herself to sleep, and as her mother rocks her daughter’s form as she sleeps, she thinks about her life, and
everything that has brought her to this point. The silver haired woman regrets nothing over the past 8 years, nothing except
the forceful eviction by that creature that just destroyed their home and her daughter’s people.
These thoughts she keeps to herself. Her daughter will know her true purpose in time, but now it is time to grieve for those
lost that day.
“Vegeta, I’m so sorry.” The woman grieves softly, as one tear escapes confinement and rolls down her cheek.
