Unshead Blood
A/N: now, this is the first time I've ever written a story like this. I've had a horrible writer's block for a long time now so I kind of forced this story. But tell me what you think please. I dont know if I'll continue it or not. So we'll see.
Chapter one: Dead eyes
Blood and rain soaked her body as she watched the life leave her victim's eyes. She had seen it so many times that it no longer fazed her.
“Your time is up.” She said as the man finally died at her feet. The black haired girl removed the arrow from his chest, flicked the blood off the deadly tip and walked away, disappearing into the shadows as sirens could heard from the distance.
**
“Good job Higurashi. I always thought you were twisted.” The black haired man said.
Kagome stopped in her tracks, her dark chocolate eyes moving to the side to look at the man. “I don’t know what your talking about Bankotsu.”
Bankotsu chuckled and placed his arm around her shoulders. “You let your target suffer before he dies. You know, most of us make a clean cut. Right for the head or the heart. You shoot them with your arrows and let them either bleed to death or die of the poison in the tips.”
Kagome instantly pushed his arm off her shoulders. Its harder to shoot someone with an arrow then it is to just cut them in half. You should know that better then anyone.”
The man gave a small pout. Kagome always seemed... dead in some way. Ever sense her first kill five years ago, she just seemed to go more and more into herself. She picked the choice of a bow instead of a sword only because she didn’t want to see her targets when she killed them. But as of late, she would have to come close and personal with them so she could remove the arrows. Or that was what their boss has been demanding.
“Hey Kagome!” Bankotsu called at her back. “The boss wants to see you soon. He wants your report and I think he’s going to send you on another mission.”
The only indication that Kagome showed that she heard him was just a wave.
**
Water ran down her hair and back, the suds from soap and shampoo ran to the tiled floor.
“/Please! I have a family waiting for me at home! I don’t want to die!/”
She had a family at one point.
“/Your insane! What did I ever do to deserve this?!/”
It wasn’t her choice to make.
“/Please! have mercy!/”
She never did.
Kagome shut the water off, her breathing harsh. She had to keep strong. If she didn’t, then she would die one day before getting revenge on the man who killed her family. She could still hear the screams as her mother was killed first, followed by her grandfather then her little brother Sota.
They did nothing to deserve such a fate. She was only five at that time when they were all killed. Five and spared out of all of them. Not even a year later she was adopted by a man named Naraku. He promised her that he would help her avenge her family. For ten years he trained her. Ten long years he trained her to be a deadly assassin. Ten long years has she buried her pain, her suffering, and her tears. She would killed for Naraku, as long as he delivered the man who killed her family.
“Kagome!” A womanly voice called from behind the door. “Are you done yet dear? Naraku wants to see you ASAP.”
Kagome sighed as she began to towel off and get dressed. “Tell him I’ll be there soon Jakotsu.”
“Will do!” Kagome heard the man scamper off and out the door.
**
“There you are Kagome.”
Kagome bowed her head and kept her eyes to the floor. She knew that Naraku hated her eyes. He always told her that they were too soft and wasn’t worthy of looking at his person.
“You wished to see me Naraku?” She asked him.
Naraku gave a small nod and sipped from his drink. “You did well on your mission. Another evil man is dead thanks to your efforts. Your becoming better each time.”
She gave him no answer.
“I have a new mission for you. It might help you get your answers on who killed your family.”
Instantly Kagome stiffened and she looked up at him.
Upon seeing her eyes, the hanyou growled and stood up, making the girl instantly look down again. “Do not look at me with those disgusting eyes.” He snarled.
“I apologize.” muttered the girl.
Naraku sighed and leaned back into his chair. “I will forget you this time Kagome. Your next target is this man here.” He motioned Kanna over.
The white haired girl walked over to Kagome and handed her a picture.
It was a picture of a silver haired man white what looked to be dog ears on top of his head. His golden eyes were laughing as he held a beer in his hand and his arm around a black haired man who looked to be a monk. Kagome instantly could tell that he was a hanyou just liked Naraku.
“He is the vise president of Taisho co.” Said the Hanyou. “He might know the key to your family’s demise. Gather information from him if you wish, but I want him dead by the end of tomorrow night. Any later then that is not acceptable. Understand?”
Kagome pocketed the picture and gave a small nod. “Understood.
**
“Your leaving already?” Jakotsu pouted. “But you just got back Kagome!”
Kagome ignored the man as she packed a light bag and dipped some of her arrows in a type of acid that Naraku prepared for her.
“I wonder who is your target this time? I hope he’s better looking then the man from last night.”
Kagome sighed. “Jak, I know your trying to cheer me up, or something like that, but I’m about to leave so if you can, just leave me alone for a little bit.”
Jakotsu gave a small pout and got off the bed. ‘Alright, but you better start taking better care of yourself Kagome. Your beginning to look more like a corpse then the walking dead. And that’s saying something.” He then left, shutting the door quietly.
“Lock away your feels, kill without emotion.” Kagome whispered softly to herself. “If I don’t, I will be killed myself.” With that said, she grabbed her arrows, wrapped them up and left.
**
Kagome watched her target from a distance. He was drunk and laughing with friends at a bar. His voice was so loud that the whole bar could hear him. And that was saying something sense the whole bar was loud.
“So, I took that stupid wolf by the collar, and said to him, ’if you don’t get out of my sight now Koga, I’ll take that tail of yours and shove it so far up your ass that you wouldn’t be able to walk straight for the rest of your life!’” Around him everyone began to laugh.
It was now or never. He would be surrounded by guards once he left. With the hanyou being drunk, he would die of the poisoning faster. No one would know it was her.
Taking her bow, she loaded the arrow and took aim.
Faster then any eye could see, she let the arrow go, watching it as it shot to the drunken man.
Faster then her eyes could see, another hand came out and grabbed the arrow right before it stuck the hanyou’s back.
Sharp golden eyes looked straight at her shocked expression and even smirked as the arrow dissolved in his hand.
In a matter of seconds Kagome grabbed her bag and ran off. She needed to get out of there quickly. She weaved though the bodies of dancers and even drunkards till finally she burst though the night. But she didn’t stop there. That man was a demon. A full blooded powerful demon.
“Is funny that you think you can run from me.” A voice whispered in her ear.
Kagome’s eyes went wide and she skidded to a halt, the silver haired demon standing before her. Kagome reached in her back pocket and pulled out a knife. “I don’t want to fight you.” Growled Kagome.
The silver haired demon smirked. “Even though the whelp is worthless, this Sesshomaru cannot allow you to kill him.”
“I have no choice.” Kagome lunged at the demon, knowing that there was no way she could win. In a matter of seconds, her world went black.
**
“What do you mean scorpion is after my head?!” A loud voice yelled.
“Shut your mouth whelp. there is no need to yell. Now leave, the girl is waking up.”
Kagome groaned softly as her eyes tried to adjust to the dark room.
“Whatever Sesshomaru. But if she’s as dangerous as you say she is, it would be better if you just killed her and get over with it.” a door slammed loudly.
There was a soft sigh and the silver haired demon, who Kagome finally found out his name was Sesshomaru, walked into her line of eye sight.
“Why am I still alive?” Kagome muttered. She couldn’t move very well, both her arms and legs were tied.
Sesshomaru didn’t answer her question. Instead he took her chin in his deadly claws and turned her face side to side. “Your no older then sixteen. Yet your hands are stained with the blood of many. Why?”
Kagome gave no answer, instead she repeated her question.
Golden eyes narrowed at her. “Your alive because its not my decision if you live or not. Your dead anyways, bleeding you out would be meaningless.” He stood to leave.
“Liar!” She yelled. “You know who killed my family. for all I know, it was you and that other guy!”
Sesshomaru looked down at her, shaking his head. ‘This Sesshomaru, nor did Inuyasha kill anyone. The Higurashi family was killed by the hanyou Naraku.”
Kagome’s chocolate eyes widened as she heard his words. “No...” She muttered. “Your lying. You have to be lying.”
Sesshomaru shrugged. “Believe what you wish.” quietly, the door shut, leaving her alone.
