The Picture

It was a hot June afternoon, Kagome was walking to her car the same thing she did five times a weeks. Except today was not like any other day. Today was her birthday her family and friends always make it a big deal but to her was it just another day. As Kagome was about to get in her car she noticed a piece of paper under her windshield wipers. When she got behind the wheel of her car she opened the paper to see what it said. “ I can’t wait to see you tonight my darling, I have the most romantic evening planned for the two of us. I’ll see you later tonight. Love Inuyasha. “ I totally forgot that I was supposed to go out with him tonight. I’ll just have to call and cancel.” With that thought she dialed Inuyasha’s number. He didn’t answer so she left him a message. “Inuyasha I’m feel really terribly cause I forgot that I promised my family I would have dinner with them tonight. I’ll call you again later and set up another date.” She hung up the phone and started her car and started on her way home for her birthday dinner with family and friends. By the time that she got home see saw that there was no cars parked outside by the curb. She turned her car off and locked it and walked up the stairs. When she reached the top she didn’t see any decorations either” I wonder if they forgot this year” she thought to herself. She hurried up and ran inside the shrine , but was surprised that she wasn’t greeted. “Ok what in the hell is going on here” she thought. “Well I might as well go and take a shower and change out of my suit.” So Kagome went straight to her room grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom to take her shower. When she was finished she dressed her self and decided that she would go look for her missing friends and family. She looked everywhere that she could think of that they would be. She finally gave up after 10 minutes of searching. She walked to her favorite spot on the whole property. She was only a few feet away from the beautiful magnificent tree when she heard voices coming from the well house. She immediately went into defense mode and slowly approached the well house doors and when she had her fingers on the door, the door flew open knocking her back and making her land on her butt, all she heard was “SURPRISE!” she dusted her pants off and walked toward the crowd of people that were starting to crowd around her. “Kagome I thought that you were never going to find us!” Exclaimed her mother. “Well mom I looked everywhere in the shrine and couldn’t find you guys anywhere.” “Well sis mom had to find a better place to surprise you, cause face it you expect it in the same spot every year” said her little brother Sota. She moved about from person to person making sure she greeted everyone. Her mother then made the announcement that they were to move the party to the main part of the shrine. When the crowd had dissipated she saw one person standing near the doors of the well house, she gasped in surprised as the person turned around to greet her. “Inuyasha!” she exclaimed “ I’m glad to see you too sweetheart” he said as he walked closer to her his arms opened wide to come and embrace her. She was so shocked that he was here for her party that she started to back away from him as if she didn’t want him to hug her. “Kagome what’s the matter did I do something wrong?” he questioned. “ Oh no Inuyasha you didn’t do anything wrong I was just surprised to see you here, I tried to call and tell you that I forgot that my family was going to have a get together and that I was going to have to cancel tonight with you but you’re here and let me guess you called my mother and asked her if you could take me out tonight and she told you to come over and help them surprise me.” “ It never surprises me how well you can put two and two together.” Inuyasha said with a smile. Kagome started walking over to Inuyasha when she reached him she gave him a hug and a kiss on the lips. “What is that all about?” He asked all confused. “Nothing I just wanted to show you how I’ve missed you and how glad that I am to have you here.” “ Well if this the way I’m going to be treated every time I leave and then come back I need to go away more often” he said with a smirk. “Well I think I better bring you inside before they think I ran off with you and to never return “ Said Inuyasha. And on that note they walked hand in hand to the shrine to finish the party. When they walked through the door Kagome’s mother took her hand and ran off with her. When they were in her mothers room her mom turned around and said” Kagome dear I want you to close your eyes I have something very special to show you.” “Remember when you told me that you had a couple of dreams about a young man who had eyes the color of a beautiful golden sunset. You remember dear?” “Yes mom I remember…..”
**************************Flashback about 2 years ago
Kagome awake with a start. She had the most peculiar dream. It felt real; She was walking in a forest of some sort , she was walking with a purpose. She finally reached a clearing to where a huge tree stood it looked like the tree near the shrine. When she started to walk toward the tree a man came out from around the huge trunk of the tree and he was starting to walk towards her. He was wearing a white kimono with red sleeves and white flower patterns on it. He was also wearing armor. He was rather tall , his eyes the color of a golden sunset they seemed to pierce right through you and know all your darkest secrets. His hair was the color of big fluffy white clouds on a clear summers day. He was approaching her quit quickly as he was walking he was trying to tell her something but she couldn’t hear a thing. She could still hear the sound of birds singing their songs and the rustle of trees, but she couldn’t hear what he had to say. “Please what are you trying to tell me?” she questioned. Still he kept trying but to no success. He finally reached her she took a step back she wasn’t terrified there was something about him that was a little familiar to her. She felt like she knew him from some where. They stood there for what felt like forever when she did the unthinkable. She took the extra step towards him and hugged him. She felt his arms wrap around her waist and her body just relaxed against his. This felt so right to be standing here doing this with this stranger. Just when she was about to pull away from him he cupped her face in his hands and said “I will look for you” and with that she saw him float away and disappear. She was left standing there with such hurt that she couldn’t comprehend.

With that memory she started to cry she tried so hard to forget that dream but it kept hunting her. That Is how she met Inuyasha he had the same color eyes like the man In her dreams.” Kagome dear are you alright, you have tears coming down your cheeks?” “ I’m fine continue with what you were saying.” “ Like I was saying after you had that dream I wanted to find some books on how to interpret your dreams and I came across a book I read on and it said that you might be remembering a past life. So I rembered you description of him and I found out there was a young lord in the feudal era in Japan that matched his description and I went around trying to find a picture and this is what I found , you may open your eyes.” When Kagome opened her eyes and saw the picture it was like a flood gate was opened from her memories. Kagome all of a sudden started to remember him a little. This man that was in the picture. She remembers a conversation that was held between the two of them. “ Kagome I don’t care what the other demon lords think I love you and that’s all that matters to me can’t you see that!” he said it with such love in his eyes. “ I don’t care either, but I just don’t want your lands taken from you.” she said symphothicaly “ I am well aware of the consequences and I can handle what the lords have to dish out!” he exclaimed. “ But…” he embraced her as if she was about to fade away from existence. “ No buts Kagome, we live for here and now!” and with that he covered her mouth with his. He didn’t want to hear another word from her anymore. He picked her up and cradled her in his arms as if to reassure himself that all of this was real. That was that Kagome could remember at that point. Kagome’s mom was the one who snapped her back into reality. “Kagome are you alright? She questioned. But Kagome didn’t answer her back. Kagome was trying to fight back the tears but it was too late they already coming like a waterfall.. Kagome’s mom came to her side just in time too because Kagome collapsed and fell to her knees.” I don’t understand, I love Inuyasha and now all of this is coming back to me. What am I to do?” she questioned while shacking her head. Just as her mom was about to answer there was a knock on the door. “ Who is it?” Kagome’s mom asked. “It’s me Inuyasha” “ Oh no mom I can’t let him see me like this!” she said shocked as can be. “ Ok I’ll stall him and you go to the bathroom and fix yourself up.” With that her mother slipped out of the room and lead Inuyasha down the stairs to where the party was taking place. While Kagome was in the bathroom fixing her hair and makeup she saw something out of the corner of her eye, she whirled around and found nothing. “It’s just my imagination playing with me, after all those memories yes that must be it.” she said as she headed out the door to finish her party. When she reached the door and was about to open it a hand grabbed hers and whipped her around. She jumped back and to her surprise it was.....
