A world without Inuyasha
~A/N: Not all the warnings in the discription apply right away or in the near future. But I know how my brain works and wanted to give everyone a heads up. I hope that it sits well with everyone... it's kind of a strange AU.
The crossovers for this story are: Fushigi Yuugi, Bastard!, Words worth, Tencho Tenge, Elfen Lied, Sexy Magical Girl, and DBZ.
Anyway... read.. enjoy... review... be happy... think dirty... and all the rest.~
The night was warm, but the gentle breeze that danced in the trees was tainted with the electric stench of sulfur. There were no clouds in the night sky for lightning to strike from, no jyaki to warn of a nearing youkai… nothing, only the crackle of electricity and the smell of burned tree sap.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome gasped, sitting up in her sleeping bag, her heart hammering in her chest. It had been three years since that night, since the night Inuyasha disappeared.
There was a groaned growl from her left, a rather annoyed wolf youkai rolled over to face her, his eyes half open. “You have got to stop dreaming about dog breath Kagome. You wake me up every damn night calling his name.”
She felt herself flush in embarrassment, after everything that had happened to her there was little that could make her blush like a school girl, but occasionally one would slip past.
“Keh.” She huffed, glad for the darkness of the gave they were using for shelter. “Like you were really asleep anyway Koga.”
Koga scowled, he hated how much like Inuyasha the sweet young Kagome had become over the years.
“This Sesshomaru agrees with the wolf. It does nothing to dwell on the past when it is the present that we should be concentrating on.” Came a cold voice from the entrance of the cave. As usual the one armed inu youkai spent his nights staring into the darkness, ever aware of the danger they were all in.
“I know Sesshomaru-sama.” The young girl agreed, laying back down and trying to relax. Staring up at the stone ceiling of the cave her mind wandered to just how strange it had all been since the disappearance of the hanyou. They had lost the last pieces of the Shikon no Tama to Naraku, granting the crazed spider hanyou power beyond that of even the strongest living daiyoukai.
But in those years of struggle, the small band of warriors had grown. Koga, Sesshomaru, Rin, and even Kikyo had joined their fight against the darkness. Seshomaru using the power of his Tensega to bring Kohaku back to life.
Miroku and Sango had married and had a child. They still fought against Naraku with everything they had, but Miroku had convinced the demon huntress that his time on the earth was short. She had given in to his wish to marry and have children, just so the fight could continue long after his Kazama swallowed him and his curse was passed to their child.
So much had happened in three years time, so much ha changed, and yet… she still thought of the silver haired hanyou with every breath she took. She loved him, she had never stopped loving him, and she hoped that somewhere inside the fortress that was Naraku’s castle that she would find him again. Somehow she just had to believe he was still alive.
//
The sun rose slowly on the horizon, deep red from the heavy smoke that filled the country side. There was nothing left that the youkai following Naraku hadn’t destroyed. Thousands had died and hundreds more had been taken as slaves.
Even at the early hour the air was stained with the sent of death, as hordes of mononoke swarmed the small group of warriors.
There lives had been filled with gore since long before Naraku had the jewel, but now they marked their path with the bodies of their enemies. Determined to show their enemies that they would not soon lay down and die.
“Kaze no Kizu!” Arcs of light cut through clouds of demons, creating a path that the group quickly took advantage of to continue their assault.
It was during battle that Kagome’s friends thought she seemed most like their missing friend. They had found the Tetsiga under the tree where he had been sleep, and after speaking with Totosai they discovered a way for her to utilize its powers.
She stood, her pleated green skirt blowing in the wind, the large fang resting on her shoulder, bodies scattered around her. Not stopping to rest she charged into the closest group of swarming mononoke, a cry of anger and frustration leaving her lips as the large sword flashed with every swing. “Naraku!” She shouted into the air, “I’m going to make you pay for taking him away from me!”
In response to her cry more youkai filled the air, there mass cutting the fighters off from one another, leaving each in their own private battles.
“My dear girl…” Came a dark, and all too familiar voice. “What makes you think I took your precious Honyou?”
Kagome spun to face the voice and found herself staring into dark pools of chestnut brown. Long black hair blew around him, the tentacles that sprouted from his back waved absently ready to attack or defend at any moment.
“Bastard!” She yelled angrily as she lunged at the demon in front of her, only to be caught in his strong and deadly embrace.
“No, the dog I didn’t take, but you my dear… I think I will whisk away.” He muttered into her ear as he forced her to release her hold on the large fang she used as a weapon.
When the demons cleared, and the air became calm once again, the exhausted warriors were more then aware, that they were missing a very important member.
//
Kagome struggled against the rope that bound her wrists behind her back, her eyes darting around the room she was in to try and find an adequate escape rout. “Let me go you bastard!”
“There really is no need to shout. We are the only ones in this room.” He answered calmly, his fingers running through her long raven locks.
“Keh. When I get free I am going to rip your heart out my bear hands.” She growled as she felt his touch brush against her jaw and neck.
“You’ve become so brash. Holding on to the boy the only way you know how hmm? By acting just like him. Have you taken to sleeping in trees as well?” He teased, his hand dipping farther down her body to brush against the tops of her breasts, still covered by her blood stained white shirt.
Kagome growled deep in her throat, warning the demon that she did not approve of where he had let his hand wonder.
“Have you saved yourself for him as well? Or did you finally give in to the wolf’s advances?”
Her eyes narrowed and she threw the weight of her body into his abdomen, forcing him back a step. “None of your damn business. Let me go you Fucking bastard!”
He grinned wickedly at her. “So feisty. I think I will enjoy making you my new concubine. The reincarnation of Kikyo… and yet… nothing like her.”
Kagome clenched her teeth, her deep brown eyes narrowed to slits. “You get near me again and you’ll regret it.” She growled.
There was the smell of sulfur, electric without sign of a storm.
Kagome gasped, her eyes going wide as she tried to find the source of the smell. “Inuyasha…” She breathed before she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end, and everything went bright white.
