Section 7

Chapter 1: Welcome to Section 7.

the hallway was long, featureless, and lit with harsh flourescant lights. it's black non-reflective floor and grey walls gave the well lit space a gloomy atmosphere. The silent rigidity of her guide did not help Kagome's building nervousness either. her guide was a short older man with large eyes and a large pointed nose. For an agent of Section 7 he struck her as odd. He looked far older than anyone she had yet seen in the facility so far. He also seemed very on edge and nervous to the point of being paranoid. The hallway at last came to an end and the older agent opened the single gunmetal grey door. more dim light filtered through. she walked out into what looked like a parking garage. This particular level housed some very sporty looking cars that Kagome remembered from when her father had taken her to an antique car show when she was a kid. "What is this place?" she asked the old man. "This," he said slowly. "Is where i leave you to be delivered to your new partner. You will live with him and he will train and breif you in your duties." Kagome nodded. "There's no one here though." the old man turned. "Agent Miroku will arrive shortly and bring you to your destination. anything you see or hear from this point out is top secret and considered a matter of national security. Good luck and good bye, Agent Kagome." the door closed and he was gone.

Back at the other end of the hallway, Myoga closed the door for the last time. the appointment of this new agent ment that he could finally retire. For Section 7, retirement was a bittersweet reward for years of service and dangerous work. For him, today ment the end of a long and trying career. but it also marked the end of his life. there was too much to see in section 7 for agents to retire to the civilian population. there was too much of a chance of something slipping. Myoga's final commitment to his job, his country, and his world and those left behind in it. he rounded a corner into the office of director InuTaisho. at a large desk in the far end of the room sat a towering man with wide shoulders and long white hair. he looked somberly at the aging man who had just knowingly walked into his death without fear or hesitation. "Myoga, my old friend... i assure you that this has been a trying time for us all." The old man nodded. "It is my duty, Director. Agent Kagome is in the hands of Agent Miroku. She will be with your son shortly." The white haired man gave a pained smile. "Myoga... even here, knowing that you will not leave this room alive you are as dedicated to our cause as the day you joined Section 7. i hate to let you go, but that choice is not mine to make." The condemned agent removed his suit jacket and slung it over a chair neatly. "Director, may i be granted one last request?" InuTaisho rose from his seat and walked over to the man. "Anything." Myoga stood tall and confident. "Do it quickly." InuTaisho raised his hand and his fingernails grew into razer sharp claws. "I always do, old friend. now. you may rest in peace." he placed his hand on the back of Myoga's neck and pressed one claw through his spine, severing the pain, then peirced the agent's heart with his other hand. he fell to the floor limp.

Kagome had grown bored of waiting for Agent Miroku to show up and started walking between the rows of cars. there was a red-gold 66 pontiac firebird. a 67 corvette stingray. several GTO's. "Wow..." she said aloud. we really get to get around in style." a voice behind her made her jump. "No actually, these are a private collection. the director owns most of them. some agents own a few." Kagome whirled around. a tall lean man with black hair tied back in a small pony tail stood smiling back at her. "You must be Agent Miroku." the man walked over. "Miroku Miatsu at your servce, Miss Kagome. Come, you are expected." kagome nodded and followed him to his ride, a rather unremarkable toyota camery. "So we don't all drive around in old muscle cars?" Miroku chuckled. "Here at Section 7 we tend to have an appreciation for discreetness. when we're off the clock, yeah. the government pretty much pays for our every whim, so some of us end up with some expensive hobbies. but the job calls for more indistinguishable vehicles. shall we?" Kagome nodded. she rather liked Miroku. he was kind and friendly and personable. but they were off in a new direction, towards he new home, and her partner agent, and her new life in Section 7.
