Chapter 1 - Surprise

Selene had a normal life, well normal for her at least. It was summer holidays and she was at the mall buying a new swim suit, since her only one was finally too small and she was forced to toss it out.
She was browsing through the bikini rack, looking at a plain black one she was planning on buying when she noticed someone on the other side of the rack that looked rather familiar.
“Kagome, is that you?” Selene said unsure. The raven haired girl looked quickly
“Selene! Oh my god I haven’t seen you in ages!!” She ran around to the other side of the rack and gave Selene a huge hug, Kagome was one of Selene’s only friends; she was somewhat of an outcast and now that Kagome and Selene went to different high schools it was hard to keep in touch.
“Would you like to go get a drink Kagome?” Selene picked up her black bikini and walked towards the counter, Kagome grabbed hers a green and white one and followed
“Yeah, I was about to head over there”. The two girls paid for their new bathing suits and headed towards the food court. They both bought a soda and sat at a table near the fountain. They talked about all the new things in there lives for at least an hour when suddenly Kagome jumped
“Hey Selene are you still into those myths about feudal Japan and demons?”
“Well of course, why do you still think I’m crazy? “Selene finished her soda and put it on the table. Kagome shook her head “No way! Well not anymore...But that’s because”
“What do you mean?” Selene was confused
“Selene want to sleep over tonight?” Kagome had a surprise for her old friend, something she knew she’d love.
“Yeah sounds fun but what did...” Kagome cut her off
“Go home and pack your stuff, where going to be sleeping outside. I promise you’ll love it...Oh and bring your bikini. Meet me at my place at 7 ok?” Kagome got up waved at Selene and began to walk off.
“Uh, Ok” Selene was pretty confused now, she new something was up, but what did her obsession with myths of feudal Japan have to do with anything? She got up picked up her stuff and went home to get ready for the campout at Kagome’s

Selene walked up the steps and rang the door bell it was 7:30. Kagome quickly opened the door.
“Great your finally here” she looked at her watch
“Late like always but that doesn’t matter” She rolled her eyes. Selene noticed she had a back pack on too.
“Where are we going Kagome?” Selene raised an eyebrow
“Follow me” Kagome closed the door and walked past her and around the house to the back where the shrine stood.
“ You mean where camping in there?” Selene said as she watched Kagome open the shrine door and walk in. Selene followed her, the old well stood in the middle, Selene remembered this was where they played when they where younger it was their hide away from the grown-ups. Kagome took off her necklaces it had a small jar with about 5 pieces of what looked like a broken marble inside, Kagome spilled out two of the shards and gave them to Selene
“Err, Thanks?” having no idea what was going on she put them in the pocket in her white shirt. Kagome closed the jar and put the necklaces back around her neck
“ Ok Selene this is going to sound weird but trust me, we have to jump into the well ok?”
“Err ok but you have to tell me why first...”
“I’ll tell you when we get to the bottom, by the way don’t lose those” she pointed at Selene’s pocket. “Alright” Selene and Kagome stepped on the edge of the well , Selene looked at Kagome who smiled at her and they both jumped in , but something strange happened they didn’t hit the bottom and they where suddenly surrounded by a blinding blue light.
“Kagome what’s going on” She said in amazement, the blue light had vanished and they where now standing on the bottom of the well like something had gently placed them there. The moon light poured in Selene looked up she saw stars but there wasn’t supposed to be stars there.
“Kagome?? Where’s the roof?” Kagome grinned
“Surprise!!” she said quietly
“We’re in feudal Japan!” Selene’s eyes widened she stumbled back and her mouth fell open
“Are you serious?” she said in a small voice.
“Yes” Kagome grinned happily
“Where really here, the myths are all true and demons do exist” Selene was speechless , stunned, amazed she couldn’t wait to get out and explore she hugged Kagome who began to laugh.
“Lets get out of here I’ll show you around a bit” Kagome tilted her head and put her hands around her mouth to amplify her voice
“INUYAHSA!” She screamed. Selene looked up
“What do you want Kagome!” a slightly angry male voice called back.
“Help us out you idiot!” Kagome stomped her foot.
“What do you mean us? Who have you got down there?” Inuyasha looked over the edge of the well, Selene looked up and waved
“Err Hello” She was unsure of what to say. Inuyasha jumped to the bottom of the well making Kagome and Selene have to get very friendly with the well wall since there wasn’t much room to begin with. Selene looked at Inuyasha .He was wearing a red kimono, he has long silver hair and DOGEARS! Her eyes widened again and before she knew it she was tugging on Inuyasha’s soft white ears. Kagome laughed but Inuyasha didn’t look very amused.
“Eh, Hands off!”
“Inuyasha get us out of her!” Kagome yelled,
“Fine!” Inuyasha grabbed Selene and Kagome by the waist and with one huge leap jumped out of the well, he landed on the grass and let them go . Selene managed to stay on her feet but Kagome fell backwards, her face went red as her skirt flew up she jumped to her feel and slapped Inuyasha
“You pervert, don’t look!”,
Inuyasha’s face went equally red “I didn’t look!”
“Come on Selene, I’ll introduce you to the gang” she began to walk into the forest away from Inuyasha who was swearing under his breath but he soon followed too. With in five minutes Selene, Kagome, and Inuyasha where in a small village, Selene followed them into a small hut were there where four people sitting around a fire, a man in a purple kimono, a little boy with a tail?, an elderly woman and a woman that was probably around her own age.
They all looked up and smiled at Kagome “Kagome your back!” the small boy with the fox tail said as he ran to hug her legs she picked him up.
The two women were making soup, they both looked up at Selene. “Hey Kagome? Who’s your friend?” the younger girl said.
“Oh” Kagome walked over to Selene “Everyone I’d like you to meet Selene, she’s a good friend from my time” they all looked at her as Kagome pointed to them “That is Miroku” the man in purple waved, “And Kaede” the elderly woman bowed her head “That’s Sango”
“Nice to meet you Selene” Sango said with a friendly smile “And this little guy is Shippo”
“Kagome she’s so pretty” Shippo said in his little voice.
“That she is” Miroku said as he put his arm around Selene’s shoulders he turned and grabbed her hands. Selene saw Sango quickly stand up “Would a beautiful girl like you care to bare my children?” He said this in a tone someone would normally use when they where asking you if you wanted more tea .
Sango grabbed her weapon and raise it above her head ready to hurt Miroku but Selene got there first she yanked her hand out of his grasp made a fist and punched him so hard in the face he was flung into the hut wall.
Sango blinked and lowered her weapon a little, Miroku lay on the hut floor in a daze “Ever talk to me like that again and you won’t be able to have children in this life time!” Selene said with an evil smile as she stomped on the ground like she was crushing a useless bug.
Sango dropped her weapon and began to laugh “I think I like you already Selene!” Selene giggled
“Don’t mind him he does that to everyone” she sat down by the fire. Sango and Selene sat down too and were both handed a bowl of soup, it smelt really good and Selene was pretty hungry.
Everyone sat around the fire eating dinner, Miroku with one dark purple eye closed , they were all anxious to know what Kagome was like as a child and Selene told them everything.
Kagome was blushing a deep pink colour as Selene told them about when they were eight and Kagome had asked Selene’s older brother to marry her and when he said no she cried for an hour, or another time when they where five and Kagome had gotten out of the house during bath time and run down the street naked.
“Why can’t she do that know?” Miroku said , Sango threw her spoon at him.
By the time Selene had finished embarrassing Kagome everyone was already half asleep, it was late Shippo and Sango’s pet fire cat were asleep in the corner and Kaede had left to her sleeping hut next door.
Kagome and Selene rolled out their sleeping bags as everyone found their favourite place on the floor Inuyasha was leaning against the wall next to the door.
In no less then five minutes everyone was fast asleep except for Selene she was cold and couldn’t get comfortable, she sat up and looked around the fire had almost died and no extra wood in the hut. Selene got out of her sleeping back and picked up her bag she stepped over a sleeping Kagome and past Inuyasha at the door and went outside she’d decided she’s go and get more fire wood, she stood at the mouth of the forest.
“I believe the well is this way” she said quietly to herself “It looks harmless enough” she walked in. An hour had passed and Selene had no idea where she was, she hadn’t found any firewood and worse that that she didn’t remember which way to go to get back to the hut.
As she stood there deciding what way to go next she heard a rustle in the bush behind her and a small whimper, Selene turned around and stepped closer to the bush.
“Err, is there someone there?” she wasn’t sure if she’d actually heard the sound or if it was her ears playing tricks on her, then she heard it again and a girls voice answered “Hello” it said “Your not going to hurt me are you?” it sounded like a child.
“Of course I won’t” Selene said trying to sound comforting.
A little girl poked her head out from behind a bush, her eyes where red and puffy and her cheeks were tear stained. Selene knelt down “Tell me what’s wrong? Why are you out here all alone?, where are you parents?”
“I’m lost” the little girl said with a snuffle her eyes teared up again.
“I’ll help you find your home if you like, I’m a little lost too actually” Selene looked at her and smiled. “You will really?” The little girl smiled showing all of her teeth and the wiped a tear off her cheek,” Thank you Miss”. She stepped out from behind the bush she was wearing a little orange kimono “I’m Rin”.
