….
Spring was in full bloom but it had yet to reach across the western lands.
It rained and poured over the castle of the West. The Lord’s young ward, Rin hadn’t been
outside in days and moped unhappily around the entire castle. She was wandering from
room to room shrouding in her misery of not being able to go outdoors. She was an
outdoorsy person, and cutting her off from her pleasure in life was not very good.
See Rin, was normally hyper, full of energy and enough bounce to keep Jaken on his toes.
Imagine all that energy suddenly dropping. Jaken couldn’t have been any happier, but now
she’d go and bother Sesshomaru about the weather. She’d ask when the rain would stop, or
why it’d have to rain on this specific day. It made it no better that the demon lord was
trying to get important documents signed and read through with the utmost focus; at last
the child was grating his patience.
He had enough going on with negotiations and now the whole Rin becoming a woman on top
of everything else had frustrated him.
She had just bled and shown she was ready to be mated. Although, the girl (now woman)
had been taught how to read and write of course, she was not a lady (At least by human
standards.).
She was not considered proper enough and well informed in human customs. If Sesshomaru
tried to match her off with another human she would be considered strange and unusual.
It was bad enough his rule was being questioned by other lords because he’d taken the
girl in. To also have the child rejected by a human male no less would be degrading and
perhaps then he would be a joke.
Lord Sesshomaru was no joke, nor brunt of humor.
The Southern Lord Hiiro was already mocking him by even gathering up armies. He claimed
he could take the Western Lands and bring Sesshomaru’s head on stick and place on
display for all to see. How foolish, but a few young and power hungry nobles had gone as
far to help pay for his little army.
Hiiro was a young lord, and had yet to even taste a true war. He was anxious for a
fight. The boy had come into power about 30 years ago, and was barely an adult in demon
years. He wanted to give a name to himself, and quickly no less, the powerful Lord
Sesshomaru would prove to be a target.
The young lord’s father had been respectable. Lord Jinshu was once a dependable ally who
fought alongside his father. He’d been very wise and charismatic. He would often hold
down the fort when several nobles began questioning his father’s rule. Sesshomaru had
respected the man and his passing was a loss in the castle of the west. He’d died due to
a poison, rather suspicious if you’d ask. Where the poison had come from should’ve been
fairly obvious, but the nobles took this to their advantage and the prince became a lord
and puppet to their conquest no less.
Where had the honor of royal blood had gone, he wondered.
Sesshomaru glanced at the painting above his fireplace. It was a painting of his father
in his true form howling as he crushed an army. It was violent and beautiful. It was
night in that picture and a red moon hung behind him.
He remembered his father being so powerful the mere mention of his name would strike
fear into the hearts of all demons. He’d admired is father looked to him for advice, and
wanted to be just like him. But then he met the human woman, and everything changed.
He’d let a human woman bring his downfall, along with the spawn of the awful union. He
would not allow another human to cause the fall of his family’s great name.
No, no, not again.

“INUYASHA!” the usually pleasant voice called out.
Kagome frowned. She had removed the beads from InuYasha’s neck about a month ago, and
since then he’d been blatantly, somewhat of an overconfident asshole. While he’d been
more open about displaying little gestures of affections here and there, like holding
hands, hugging, and sleeping close to her. The first days were great, it was nice to be
close to InuYasha, but when Kouga showed up, things went to hell.
InuYasha made it his job to accompany her to the stream; he literally was yanking her
away from Kouga’s overly friendly gestures. Shippo said it was close to demon mating
season so InuYasha was going with his instincts. Shippo mentioned he’d be a little over
“protective” since InuYasha regarded Kouga as competition.
Kagome sighed, the rain had yet to let up, and she needed to go home to get more
supplies. InuYasha said he’d walk her to the well, but was nowhere insight.
“I’ll go alone.” She said out loud to Kaede.
Miroku and Sango were out of the village and Shippo was laying snuggled next to Kaede.
Kaede looked up and nodded as Kagome exited.
Kagome left in a mad dash and jetted towards the well. She had no umbrella to her utter
misfortune. Her hair was already sticking to her face and she wasn’t even half way
there.
“WOAH!”
A tree root caught her foot and she collided with the mud on the ground. She could hear
her brand new shirt tear on a branch. It was a mustard colored fitted T-shirt, she had
loved it. Now it had a teat sliding up the side revealing a bright green bra. There was
a cut there, and she was bleeding now.
Wincing she stood up leaning against the base of the tree for support.
Kagome stood up suddenly, as there was a noise in the bushes.
“I-InuYasha?” she stuttered out seeing a flash of red and silver.
She heard a groan, and went closer.
“InuYasha are-” she paused “you okay?”
The answer should’ve have been obvious.
The man was lying on the ground curled into a ball. He was moving a around spasmodically
and appeared to be holding his head. His shirt was torn to shreds and claw marks adorned
his chest. The thing that caught Kagome’s attention though, was the sick sounds of bones
popping and rearranging under the skin. His ears were moving madly and were bleeding.
The ears appeared to be sinking into….his skull.
“Oh gods…” she said.
Kagome looked upon the grotesque sight with bile rising in her throat.
She put a hand over her mouth and turned away.
InuYasha needed help. She knew he did. She suddenly felt so dizzy. The world was
spinning and she couldn’t find her footing. Unable to handle it anymore she fell to her
knees still hearing the noises of InuYasha’s body doing god knows what.
