Ok this first chapter is just background info. If you don't really want to read it, there's nothing mistical and world-altering. Just how the 'final battle' went. Next chapters the actual story. Please read and review!

Prologue

An 18-year-old Kagome looked at the well tears in her eyes. She sniffled, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to roll down her cheeks. The Shikon No Tama’s shards had all been collected. Kagome herself and her friends that she had picked up along the way and Naraku were the ones to collect them. The ‘final battle’ as many thought it was, hadn’t quite ended the way the group of friends had thought it would have.

~Flashback~

The battle had been intense; the group of friends, and their allies had all been in the fight. Even old Kaede had joined in half way though the battle trying to help Miroku with sutras and her arrows. The group fought against the actual Naraku who had come out of hiding for the rest of the jewel shards. Many forces had come their way during the fight, such as Kagura, Kanna, and the weather. Towards the end of the battle, the group of friends were growing weary, not even their adrenaline could sustain them for much longer. And with a stroke of luck, one of Kagome’s arrows had stuck her mark, having had Sango be the one to distract Naraku for just long enough for her to release her arrow.

The arrow had hit all right; it had speared Naraku where his heart should have been, if he had not ripped the heart out himself months before. This is where he had hid the uncompleted jewel. With the force of the purification arrow, it ripped through his body and out came the jewel. Shippou was the one to grab it, slippery as it was, covered in Naraku’s blood, as he ran, dodging Naraku’s tentacles, and firing his ‘fox fire’ as he went. He had eventually returned the jewel to Kagome’s rightful possession when a scream had been heard. Naraku had vanished, and Inuyasha was taking the anger out on Sesshoumaru.

~End~

Kagome had then purified the uncompleted jewel and stuck the rest of the pieces together, finally completing the jewel. The group, having sustained injuries small, and life threatening, had Kaede, who had somehow not sustained any, to heal them, along with Kagome’s help. Kagome had given the jewel over to Inuyasha who had looked at her stunned, and returned the jewel to her, saying that he had found his true power, and didn’t need it anymore. Kagome had nodded, and clasped her hands around the jewel to make her wish.

The wish was pure as she wish for the war going on inside of the jewel to stop, and to make peace. Kagome glowed pink and the jewel burst into pink dust, leaving nothing behind, once the wind swept it away. The group had smiled and had a group hug. Even Miroku had kept his hands to the small of the back or neck.

They had realized that Kagome had needed to go back to her own era, and the subduing necklace was taken from Inuyasha’s neck. She had said goodbye to everyone and jumped into the well, only to hit the bottom of it with a thud. The well had sealed, leaving Kagome in the feudal era. When the others realized that the wish had made the powers of the jewel disappear, the well had sealed. They all reassured Kagome that they would take care of her, that now that the jewel was gone, life would be easier. Kaede even offered to have Kagome as her apprentice. They had left one by one to leave her to think alone, all saying they’d wait for her at Kaede’s hut. Shippou was the last to leave her, at her insistence.

Kagome sniffled once again, remembering all that had happened, and dropped her head. This time, she let the tears pour down her face as she dropped to her knees in front of the well and sobbed. She’d never be able to see her family again, never to tease Souta about a girl he liked, never to dash to the farthest room when her mother uttered the words ‘shrine chores’, and to never have her grandfather tell her stories of demons and sacred jewel’s again. She cried for a good hour before the tears dried up, leaving only her broken sobs to linger. After another hour, only ragged breaths could be heard coming from the girl.

Kagome sighed, taking in another ragged breath, and began to think. ‘I still have family.’ She thought, ‘even if they aren’t blood related. Sango, a dear sister. Miroku -even with his hand - a brother. Shippou, like a son. Kaede, like a grandmother. Inuyasha and Kouga…’ she stopped her track of thought and smiled. ‘Inuyasha is Inuyasha, and Kouga is Kouga’ and she left her train of though there to wonder off towards the small pond she bathed in when she returned to the village. Once she got there, she looked at her reflection. Puffy, bloodshot eyes; the signs that she had been crying. She cupped some water and splashed her heated eyes with the cool water. She sighed.

"Well, it looks as if I won’t be going back to the village anytime soon. I’ve got to wait for my eyes to clear up some."
