Walking Fathers Path

IMPORTANT NOTE: This story is an experiment of sorts and was very heavily influenced by the manga novel “Sweet Revolution”, which I highly recommend reading. The use of the story “Sweet Revolution” is in no way meant to be infringement of copyright or theft, so please no suing or hate-mail reviews. I prefer to think of it as a play, where the manga is being used as the script, the imaginary characters of Rumiko Takahashi’s “Inuyasha” playing the parts therein. So you can consider this a dual fan-fiction for “Sweet Revolution” and “Inuyasha”.

I tried to keep to the original story idea as much as possible so I would classify this story is an Alternate Universe Cross-over, where the Inuyasha characters have been used in place of the original authors. In some instances I’ve omitted certain scenes that were in the manga, in other’s I’ve expanded on or changed them slightly. Other scenes have been left exactly the same as in the original story, pretty well word for word. Some of the Inuyasha characters will probably be OOC, but I’ve tried my best to make the character fit the part they are to play as best as possible. And yes, this is a yaoi fic.

The original idea of “Sweet Revolution” does not belong to me. It was written by Yukine Honami and Serubo Suzuki and it’s their story and not mine, I also do not own any part of “Inuyasha” the anime or the manga. My attempt in writing this is to honour both of these great stories and their creators. I hope I have succeeded.

Chapter 1: First Encounters

Miroku glanced around furtively from the bushes were Sesshoumaru had taken him and was now holding him in his iron grip. His master was holding his chin firmly, keeping his head still as he brought his lips onto the monks.

“S…Sessho…,” Miroku stuttered.

“Stop fighting me and open your mouth,” the taller boy commanded harshly as he again brought his lips down on the dark haired boy.

“But…what if someone sees us,” Miroku worried, trying to move his head to the side. He no more than got the words out of his mouth when the two of them heard the bushes rustling. A boy stepped out from between two small bushes. He had long black hair and dark eyes, his school bag slung over his shoulder. He had been using the path running through the brush behind the school as a shortcut to get home.

Inuyasha stopped suddenly, staring with round eyes as he beheld the tall, white haired boy holding tightly to a shorter boy, his face inches from the others. The smaller boy’s dark hair was in a short ponytail at the nape of his neck and he looked utterly petrified, like he wanted to crawl into a hole in the ground. The other, taller boy looked at Inuyasha as if he’d like to beat the shit out of him, his strange colored golden eyes thinning to slits. Suddenly, he pulled the pony-tailed youth away leaving Inuyasha standing there staring after the two departing figures.

‘I wonder if those two were the new exchange students we were supposed to get. Man, I wonder what was going on. Well its got nothing to do with me.’ Inuyasha shrugged his shoulders and continued on his way back to the shrine where he lived with his mother and his four younger siblings.

The next day Inuyasha was sitting at his desk in school thinking back to what he had stumbled across the day before. ‘That guy, jeeze, he looked like he was trying to kiss that other guy. Is that what they were…?’ His thoughts were interrupted when Kagome whapped him on the back of the head.

“Hey Inuyasha!” the cheerful girl cried out. “Are you still sleeping or what?”

“OW! Shit, I’m awake I was just thinking is all,” he returned grouchily, rubbing the back of his head. His other three friends soon walked in and took up their seats around him.

“Hey look, isn’t that the new kid?” Kohaku asked, motioning to a dark haired, pony-tailed youth as he entered the room.

“Yeah, his name is Miroku. He and another kid transferred to our school two weeks ago. I hear he’s pretty shy though and doesn’t really talk much,” Kagome informed the group.

Miroku walked past the group of friends to take an empty seat at the front of the class. He looked at the group and blushed seeing as they were all staring at him.

“Morning, Miroku,” Inuyasha smiled as the boy went to walk by.

Miroku face went a brighter shade of red as he noticed this was the boy that had caught him and his master yesterday. His fellow student didn’t look like he was trying to make fun of him; in fact, Miroku thought his smile was kind of nice. “Good morning,” he replied back quietly. He bowed his head slightly and then went and sat in his seat.

“Awww, he’s so cute,” Kagome giggled.

“Did you see that blush, adorable,” Sango chimed in.

“He actually answered back. I think this is the first time I’ve heard him speak,” Hojo said to the others.

Kohaku just rolled his eyes at his friends and his twin, Sango. “Jeeze, you’d think he was some kind of pop star or something the way you guys are going on.”

The group looked up again as the other one came in the room.

“That’s Sesshoumaru,” Kagome whispered

“How do you know everything?” Inuyasha asked the dark haired girl as the tall, white haired boy stood and looked around. He soon noticed Miroku and went to walk by the group to take the empty seat beside him.

Kohaku stood and bowed slightly, “Sesshoumaru, good morning.”

The elegant youth stopped and glared down his nose at the smaller boy before turning away and sitting beside the other new boy.

Kohaku sat back down feeling a bit stunned and a lot foolish. “What a jerk,” he spat out.

“He’s probably just not used to everything yet, he’s probably a nice guy,” Kagome soothed, trying to smooth the ruffled feathers of her best friend’s brother.

“You’re always too kind, Kagome,” Sango stated, getting angry that this guy dissed her twin. “I think he’s got a crappy attitude.”

Inuyasha said nothing as he watched the two sitting together. He noticed how Miroku seemed to be a lot more nervous than he had been just a few moments ago, as he was now glancing over every few minutes to the other guy and fiddling with his pencil. Inuyasha narrowed his eyes, ‘I don’t think this Sesshoumaru is very nice at all and what the hell is up with his hair? That can’t be natural, but who would want to bleach their hair white? And his eyes, their just creepy.’ He had to stop wondering about it for the moment as their teacher walked in and class began.

“Are you going to the cafeteria for lunch?” Kagome asked after the bell had rung and everyone had gotten up to leave.

“I’ll be there in a little while, I have clean-up duty right now and I gotta find someone to help me that hasn’t done it in awhile.”

“Okay, catch ya later, chairman” the dark haired girl smiled as she left with her friends, chatting away to Sango as they walked out the door and down the hall.

Inuyasha was left alone and he stepped out into the hall to see if any of the other guys were around to give him a hand. He had been hoping to ask one of the new guys so they could get the hang of the routine at their new school, but there was nobody walking about.

‘Jeeze, just when you need someone they all disappear,’ the dark haired boy grouched to himself.

Inuyasha headed towards the lockers hoping to catch someone there. He had just turned the corner when he saw Sesshoumaru and Miroku standing by one of the lockers. Sesshoumaru was angrily shaking his finger in the smaller boys face while Miroku was looking pretty upset.

‘What the fuck?’ This guy was really beginning to get on Inuyasha’s nerves and he decided to intervene. “Hey, Miroku,” he called out, walking over. Sesshoumaru put his hand down and gave the intruding boy a dirty look. “I need someone to help me with clean- up and since you’re the new guy, guess you get volunteered.” The dark haired teen returned the white haired teens stare.

“Well aren’t you the nice guy,” Sesshoumaru stated sarcastically, “coming all the way over her just to make him work.”

“Hey, I’m the class chairman. It’s my job to coordinate the students, even snotty, unsociable ones like you,” Inuyasha returned, balling his fists at his side before stomping off down the hallway.

“It’s okay, Sesshoumaru. I don’t mind,” Miroku said quietly. He bowed respectfully to his master before jogging to catch up to the retreating back of the dark haired boy.

Inuyasha took a quick glance over at the pony-tailed youth as he came up beside him. ‘Kagome said they were cousins, but these two guys don’t look anything alike. And the way Miroku acts around him, it’s like he’s his slave or something. Weird.’

Miroku's turned to look at Inuyasha curiously as the other boy just continued to stare at him.

Inuyasha finally realized, with a blush, that he had been caught staring. More surprising to him was the way his heart sped up when those dark blue eyes had looked into his brown ones.

‘His eyes, they look almost purple…that’s kinda pretty.’ This thought made Inuyasha blush more. He began to speak to cover up his embarrassment, “I’m sorry…but…you know…if you don’t like what that guy says or something…you should really speak up.” ‘Gaaa! That sounds so stupid,’ the teen berated himself.

This time Miroku blushed which caused Inuyasha’s heart to pick up a bit more speed. ‘Why am I reacting like this?’ he wondered.

The two made it back to the classroom where Inuyasha introduced himself before the two did a quick clean-up. Both were furtively casting glances at each other trying not to let the other catch them.

“Do you want to grab some lunch?” Inuyasha asked when they were done.

“Thank you, but I have to find Sesshoumaru. Maybe some other time?” Miroku returned.

“Yeah, sure. Later then,” Inuyasha waved as he left to go find his friends. He turned around and started walking backwards, watching as Miroku headed down the hallway in the opposite direction.

‘Thank Kami school is over with,’ Inuyasha thought. ‘I just have to drop this junk off at…eh…? What’s going on now?’ Inuyasha stopped and stared as he watched Miroku, who was kneeling on the floor, putting boots on Sesshoumaru’s feet while the taller boy just stood there, looking like he was some kind of prince.

Sesshoumaru noticed the other boy staring at them with his eyes bugging out. “What? Do you need him for more clean-up duties?” he asked with an arrogant smirk. “Miroku, you can leave now,” he ordered the youth once his boots were on.

Miroku stood and bowed low causing Inuyasha’s eyebrows to shoot up in astonishment. The dark haired teen picked up his and Sesshoumaru’s bag and walked away.

Inuyasha’s anger began to boil over at seeing this guy treating Miroku like some kind of slave. “Can’t put your own boots on?” he asked scathingly. “Do you always make him do stuff like that?”

“I do not see how this could in any way concern you,” Sesshoumaru stated regally, flicking his long hair behind his shoulder.

“I’m making it concern me,” Inuyasha ground out. “What gives you the right...?”

He was interrupted by the cold glare of the taller boy who had taken a step towards him. “What he was doing now…and yesterday,” Sesshoumaru stated with that smirk, hinting about the kiss Inuyasha had almost caught them doing, “he’s doing because he wants to.”

Inuyasha was just about seeing red at the total arrogance of this guy and had no intentions of backing down. He decided to use his powers as class chairman to his advantage. “Here,” he said pushing the books and folders he had been holding into Sesshoumaru’s arms. “Take these upstairs to the library,” he ordered before stomping away in the direction Miroku had taken.

Sesshoumaru stared after him in total shock. No one had ever ordered him to do anything, not and live anyways, and here this human was acting like he wasn’t in the least bit scared by him. ‘This is why I hate humans; they are too stupid to know when they’re in the presence of greatness.’

After leaving the building Miroku ran into the small copse of trees behind the school. He finally stopped under one of the larger birches and put his forehead against it. ‘Why? Why does he have to treat me that way, especially in front of somebody else?’ A few tears of humiliation began to leak out of his eyes and he tried to contain them. He soon was quietly sobbing as he thought back to the first time he had met his master.

He had been just a small boy, crying under a tree when Sesshoumaru had appeared. ‘He was so kind back then, asking me if I was all alone, if I was okay.’ His musings were interrupted when he heard a loud snap.

‘Damn it,’ Inuyasha cursed as he stepped on a dead branch on the ground, making it crack. He knew Miroku had to have heard it so he stepped out into the view of the other boy who was quickly wiping at his eyes.

“I’m sorry to follow you, but if something’s bothering you…I’d like to help,” Inuyasha offered.

Miroku just stared for a few minutes. No one, other than Sesshoumaru, had ever offered to help him before. “O…okay,” he mumbled self consciously, hoping he didn’t look like some cry baby to this guy. He was kind of starting to like Inuyasha. ‘It would be nice to have a real friend,’ he thought as he continued to look into those deep brown eyes that were so full of concern for him.

Inuyasha looked back into the sad blue eyes of the other boy and brought his hand up to his pounding chest. ‘What the hell?! My heart…It’s beating like crazy.’

Sesshoumaru turned down the path and looked off to his right. He saw the two boys standing there and just staring at each other. He began to frown. “Miroku,” he called out testily. “We’re leaving.”

Miroku was startled and grabbed the two school bags from the ground and ran towards Sesshoumaru.

‘That bastard!’ Inuyasha growled out in his mind.

“Hey! If you need to talk…,” Inuyasha called after the retreating boy.

Miroku stopped and turned, smiling shyly at Inuyasha and gave him a bow of thanks before catching up to Sesshoumaru and walking slightly behind him.

“Hey! Inuyasha,” Kaede-sama, his homeroom teacher called out. Didn’t I ask you to take these things to the library?” Inuyasha’s teacher was holding all the books and papers he had previously forced into Sesshoumaru’s hands before he had run out of the school to find Miroku.

‘I told him to…that jerk!’ Inuyasha complained to himself as he gathered everything back up and headed back into the school with his teacher behind him scolding him the entire time for leaving the books lying on the floor in the hallway.
