Kagome took a slow sip of the beer in front of her as she set it back down and stared around her. She can smell it, the burning essence of a vampire looming around somewhere, but where? All Kagome knew was that it was near by and watching her every movement but Kagome wouldn’t worry. The vampire should be the one worrying because his life was on the line. Taking a huge gulp of her beer, Kagome saw the movement of him and quickly leaned forward as she quickly threw the glass cup across the room to come in contact with the vampire that stood. Flipping her gun out, Kagome aimed the silver gun at him as he solemnly stood up and lunged for Kagome. Pulling the trigger, Kagome shot the silver bullet through his heart as a high pitched scream echoed throughout the room and he was engulfed in flames that soon turned him to ash. A smile curved her lips as Kagome buckled her gun back into its pocket by the side of her hips. Gazing around her, Kagome noticed that most of the people in the bar had just noticed the scene and were standing back with emotionless faces.
“Bravo! Bravo!” A voice rang from the crowded audience.
The audience broke apart and looked at each, knowing that this happened everyday. Kagome turned to gaze at the man who had just applauded her and walked away silently cursing to herself for being so stupid as to shoot a vampire in a bar.
“Kagome Higurashi, is it not?” He asked as Kagome heard his hard footsteps coming towards her.
With her back turned towards him, Kagome gave him a look over her shoulder and shrugged.
“Depends.” Kagome answered politely.
“Well, how about we sit and chat for a while?” He said, motioning towards an empty table.
The audience around them glanced their ways but tried to make no notice of it in case something was to happen or more likely, something was to happen to them.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t talk to strangers.” Kagome said as Kagome made her way towards the front door.
“Would you talk to a stranger with money?” He asked with a soft tone.
Kagome reached fro the latch and stopped when she heard the word “money.” Turning around, Kagome strode towards him in manly steps to let him know that she was not an easy girl like the ones in town and tipped her cowboy hat back as she stood in front of him with one of her hands on her small hand gun.
“Please, sit.” He said as he motioned towards the chair.
“What is your name?” Kagome asked, looking him down and up.
He was dressed in a nice rich black suit while his long black hair was nicely combed back and tied in a loose ponytail.
“Why, how rude of me. I am sorry, but my name is Naraku. I’m sure you’ve heard of me.” Naraku said, seating himself down.
Kagome glanced away and sat herself down as she nodded.
“The mayor of the little eastern cities I believe.” Kagome stated with a blank expression.
Naraku nodded and motioned for two drinks as they were quickly ordered up and set onto the table.
“Please, enjoy yourself. This one is on me.” Naraku said rather nicely.
Kagome gazed at the beer in curiosity as seconds past by. Finally heaving a sigh, Kagome took gulp and set the glass back down as Kagome’s eyes came back onto Maraku’s face.
“What is it that you want?” Kagome asked rather impolitely.
“Why, business of course.” He said with a slight chuckle. “ I’ve heard that you were the most ferocious huntress in the west and that you’ll kill as long as you get your payment. I also heard that you were a very skilled huntress, which is why I have come here on important matters.” Naraku said, taking small sips of his beer.
“What matters?” Kagome asked as she gulped down the beer.
“I have a very important job for you and only for you.” Naraku said as he looked around towards the other people in the bar.
“I’m listening.” Kagome said leaning in.
“Well, there is a vampire on the loose.” Naraku said in a low whisper. “He…he killed my wife five years ago.” Naraku said as he stared at the half empty cup of beer in front of him.
In his eyes, Kagome could tell he was in pain because Kagome also knew the pain of losing someone you loved dearly.
“Who is this vampire?” Kagome asked leaning against the wooden chair.
“His name is Inuyasha. He is the leader of a pack of vampires that are in this area right now but seeing the kind of skills that you have, I wouldn’t worry.” Naraku said as he quickly changed the expression on his face and took a sip of his beer.
“So you’re telling me that you want me to hunt down a vampire who killed your wife but what do I get in return.” Kagoem asked with a lift of her eyebrow.
“You get three pounds of gold and a pound of silver.” Naraku said as leaned in towards Kagome with a lift of his own eyebrow.
Taken by the remark, Kagome almost gasped at the comment he just made. Three pounds of gold and a pound of silver could buy her a house, a ranch, land, and many other things that she wanted or most likely, what she needed.
“So, do we have a deal or what?” Naraku asked as he stood and stretched out his right hand.
“What do I do once I catch him?” Kagome asked, also coming to a stand.
“Well, don’t kill him obviously, torture him if you want, and then send for me. You know the address.” Naraku said as he glanced at his hand, indicating for Kagome to shake it.
Kagome hesitated and wondered if she could trust this man, a stranger who she had just met, and make a deal with him, but all that money was too good to go to waste. Without another thought, Kagome struck out her left hand and gave Naraku’s hand a tight squeeze before letting go.
“We have a deal, but how will I know that you won’t go back on your words?” Kagome said with a tip of her hat.
“Well, to make matters easy, here is your first payment, a bag of gold, just like I said.” Naraku said as he took out a small brown bag from the inside of his coat and threw it towards Kagome.
With her quick reflexes, Kagome’s hand came up to catch the bag of gold as it jingled against the inside of her palm. Weighing it, Kagome peered inside and approved as she looked up at Naraku. On his face he wore a dead smile and cold eyes that burned through Kagome like venom.
“Remember, don’t kill him. I want him alive.” Naraku stated as Kagome moved a couple of steps towards the door.
Nodding her head, Kagome tipped her hat and walked out of the bar and out towards the barn as she paid the night watcher and untied her horse. Strapping on the saddle, Kagome climbed on and looked back towards the bar for one last time and finally rode away into the night.

Inuyasha could smell it, the scent of a hunter nearby. Inuyasha could smell the stains of blood that he had all over him. Smelling the air again, Inuyasha almost gasped in surprised at the sudden smell of lavender.
“No, it couldn’t be!” Inuyasha exclaimed.
Sniffing the air again, Inuyasha leaped into the air and landed on another building as he saw a young rider coming through town. Grinning, Inuyasha chuckled.
“A woman. No, a huntress.” Inuyasha said as he corrected himself.
Sniffing her again, Inuyasha’s nose cringed at another smell.
“Naraku!” Inuyasha said with venom dripping from the tip of his tongue.
Scowling, Inuaysha leaped into the air and gave the huntress one final look before disappearing.

Kagome awakened to the morning sun in her face as the warm rays touched the surface of her cheeks. Sitting up in bed, Kagome stared out the window as her eyes touched the beautiful scenery before her. In her little cottage she built beside the view of the ocean, Kagome saw the sparkles of the ocean as sea gulls flew over the deep bowl of water. Around her, Kagome could feel nature coming to its wake as the birds outside her cottage chirped in joy.
Flipping the warm covers aside, Kagome forced herself out of her cozy bed and walked on over to the washroom as she took the brown bucket from the door and slipped on her coat that hung on the coat racket. Putting on her slippers, Kagome staggered out into the open area of the forest and quietly stood there for a moment before making her way over to the little well she had dug up. Tying the bucket onto the rope, Kagome slowly dropped the rope into the well and used the lever to anchor it back up and got herself a bucket of cold fresh water. Untying the bucket, Kagome walked back inside and began getting ready for the day as she washed her face, got dressed, cooked up some eggs and bacon she got from town, and was on her way. Strapping her gun to her hips, Kagome grabbed her knife and put it in the pocket that clung tightly around her thigh, and packed two boxes of silver bullets as she went around the small cottage and smiled at her horse that awaited patiently for her.
“You hungry Dearest?” Kagome asked in a sweet tone that made the horse whine.
Smiling, Kagome fished a sack of hay from the side of the cottage as she set it out in front of Dearest and let her eat. Smiling, Kagome slid her hand across the beautiful black stallion’s hairy neck as Kagome ran her fingers through the course of hair on her head. When she was done, Kagome saddled her up, locked the door, and rode into town.
In the small quiet little town that Kagome has been living in for seven years, Kagome knew the people and the town. It was all laid out on her like the back of her hand but Kagome knew very well that all the townsfolk did not like her and she knew the reason why but pushing those thoughts quickly aside, Kagome rode into the middle of town and began her search of any newcomers that had come into town but every bar or hotel she rode into, Kagome couldn’t get any information from out of the townsfolk unless you paid them. When it had reached about noon, Kagome was hot with sweat as she rode into a bar to order up her lunch. Before she knew it, day had turned into night and the sun had disappeared. Deciding that she’ll stop for the day, Kagome heaved a sigh and rode on back towards her cottage as thoughts of lying in her comfortable and warm bed made her sleepy.
Jumping off her horse, Kagome took the reins of her horse and led her towards the back as Kagome tied Dearest up and unsaddled her. Leaving the saddle on the side of the cottage, Kagome picked up another sack of hay and fed Dearest as Kagome gave her a gentle pat on the neck and returned to her cozy cottage. Unlocking her door, Kagome leaned down and picked up the tiny folded piece of paper that lay by the door and set it on the table as Kagome glanced around her cottage and took out her packs of silver bullets. Unbuckling her gun, the hair on the back of Kagome’s neck stood as Kagome held her gun in a firm grip and hastily turned around to come face to face with a man.
“I’m impressed huntress.” He said with a small seducing chuckle.
“Well, you’re not very smart for a vampire.” Kagome stated as she indicated the door and the small piece of paper Kagome had placed behind the door.
“Why, you’re skilled and smart. Is there anything else?” He asked as he shot Kagome a grin.
“Don’t play games with me! Who the hell are you and what the hell are you doing in my cottage?” Kagome exclaimed with narrowed eyes.
“Why, I’m pretty damn sure you know a thing about me or two. Does the name, Naraku, ring a bell in that pretty damn head of yours?” He said with a mocking chuckle.
Kagome glared at him and stepped in a little bit closer so that her gun was tip to tip with his heart.
“Who are you?” Kagome asked again as the annoyance in her voice showed on her face.
“Inuyasha, but I’m sure Naraku has already told you that hasn’t he?” Inuyasha said with a raise of his eyebrow.
Without a blink, Kagome lowered her gun so that it was directly pointing at his knee and fired away but gasped in surprise when all she hit was thin air. Turning around quickly, Kagome fired again but missed as he quickly moved from one spot to another. Quickly glancing around the room, Kagome bawled over as a strong force came in contact with her stomach. Hissing in pain, Kagome pulled the trigger and missed again as he came full force towards her jaw with a vicious punch. Hastily moving out of the way, Kagome could feel his knuckles knick her jaw as Kagome leaped across the room and landed heavily against the wall.
“You think you can defeat me with that weakling gun of yours? Don’t fool yourself.” Inuyasha said as he stood in front of her with his golden eyes gleaming down on her.
Hissing in pain, Kagome stood and opened her gun as Kagome threw a bullet into her mouth and closed up her gun. Aiming the gun at him, Inuyasha chuckled at her stupidity and charged at her as he slid her up against the wall with his hand around her neck in a harsh grip.
“Have a nice trip down to hell huntress.” Inuyasha said as his grip around her neck became tighter.
Struggling, Kagome chocked back a sob and spat at him as a dust of powder swirled heavily around his face. Taken back the sudden attack, Inuyasha’s grip loosened a little and knowing that this was her chance, Kagome’s knee came up in an attack as it landed on his chin, making his head snap back.
Letting go of her, Inuyasha’s eyes began to blur as his head began spinning. Turning to look at the woman leaning against the wall, he scowled at her and lunged for her but was too slow as Kagome noticed his attack and moved out of the way.
“You bitch!” Inuyasha exclaimed in anger.
Trying to catch her breath, Kagome sneered at him as he stumbled back and tripped.
“It’s a powder I inject into my bullets but don’t worry you won’t die. You’ll drift into a deep sleep until it wears off.” Kagome explained as she touched her aching neck.
“I’ll kill you!” Inuyasha roared as he jumped at her but failed.
Stumbling back, Inuyasha’s vision began to blur as he fell to his knee and felt himself grow weaker. Glaring at the woman in front of him, Inuyasha reached for her but slipped and drifted away into the darkness with the image of her emotionless face in his mind.
