She watched in horror as her Lord was struck to the ground.

Blood. It was everywhere. Beneath her finger nails the metallic taste in her mouth made her gag. Her bangs were caked with it as it hardened against her forehead. This was something a nine year old should never witness. Her tiny heart hammered in her chest as she ran towards him, her lord, her god, her sovereign.

Dropping to her knees before him the girl let out a cry of despair. She touched his greasy skin mixed with blood and sweat, tears rolled down her pale cheeks as she grabbed hold of the blade’s hilt. “My Lord…” she wept seeing his life flowing from the wound. She cried out pulling on the blade, its magic making her fingers ache.

She closed her eyes tightly against the tears more blood flowed from the wound as she pulled with all of her might.
