Chapter 1

It had been four years since Sesshomaru had taken Rin to his brothers village and made her stay with Inuyasha and his wife Kagome. Rin was not sure why she had to stay with her lords half brother Inuyasha. He had never told her the actual reason but she followed Sesshomaru’s orders with out questioning. Rin never liked to be separated from him but he had promised that one day he will come back and get her.

Rin was eight years old when she was left in the village and now after four years she had turned twelve. Even though she was surrounded by so many lovely people she still felt lonely on the inside. When she turned ten Kagome had given her a diary from her era for a birthday present and a really nice pink pen. She told Rin that she could write down all her thoughts and feelings into it.

Since Rin came to the village Kaede had taught her how to read and write which was good for her. Rin would sometimes walk to the grassy field which was covered in beautiful flowers to write in her diary. Kagome had given her a second one since she had already finished filling out her first one.

Dear Diary,

Today Kagome and I went to visit Sango and Miroku and their new baby boy Miku. Kagome had to drag Inuyasha along he was being his stubborn self as usual. I am very grateful to Kagome and Inuyasha and also everyone else over these last few years.

I am still waiting until lord Sesshomaru will come for me like he promised. I know deep down in my heart that he will keep to his word. When he first told me how he was leaving me here I was sad. Leaving lord Sesshomaru’s side was a very hard thing for me to do.

I have always wondered what the reason was for leaving me here. I had asked Kagome and she doesn’t know either. Well I guess I will just have to wait until I see him again and ask him why.

Well I better go now dinner will be served up soon.

Rin

“Rin, Rin” she turned around and saw Kagome coming towards her calling her name. “I’m here” she yelled out so Kagome could hear her. “Their you are I have been looking every where for you” Kagome told her. “Sorry”, “I forgive you now come on dinner is ready” Kagome replied and they both headed back to the village.

When they arrived back Rin saw Inuyasha and on his lap was his and Kagome’s daughter Kinsa who was only two years old. They all walked into the hut and Kagome served up some nice vegetable chicken soup. When they had finished dinner, Rin stayed up for a while but it soon got dark and she decided to go to bed.

The morning soon came and the sun was shining through Rin’s window and onto her face. She slowly woke up and got out of bed. Rin could smell something good it was defiantly Kagome cooking up something for breakfast. She washed up and went to sit down to eat breakfast with everyone.

“Rin could you please take this basket over to Kaede’s hut for me after you have eaten” Kagome asked her. “Sure” she finished up and took the basket and headed to Kaede’s to drop it of. She looked inside the basket and their were nice warm muffins. “Yum” Rin said to herself they smelt so good but she wasn’t a selfish girl they where for Kaede she was not going to take any.

“Kaede are you in Kaede” she called out from outside but their was no answer “strange” she walked in. Rin never liked to intrude in someone else’s home but she was worried that something might have happened. “Kaede are you in here” she whispered, slowly walking inside it was completely silent. “Rin”, “AAHHHH” she screamed she quickly turned around and their was Kaede standing right behind her.

“I’m sorry dear for frightening you” Kaede said “that’s alright I was just surprised” Rin replied. “So what brings you here so early in the morning” Kaede asked her “well Kagome had asked me to bring this to you” Rin handed her the basket. “Mmm muffins please give Kagome my thanks” Kaede said “I will” and Rin took of.

She was nearly back to Kagome and Inuyasha’s hut when she heard Inuyasha yelling. “I wonder what’s wrong” so she ran to get their faster. She ran into the hut and stopped in her tracks when she couldn’t believe who she saw. “Lord Sesshomaru” she couldn’t believe it, he was actually here. He turned around and saw his young ward standing their absolutely speechless “hello Rin” he said.

He had just said hello to her and she was still frozen stiff ‘is this a dream’ she thought to herself. “Rin, Rin” she heard Kagome calling her name bringing her back to reality “are you alright” Kagome asked her, Rin just nodded her head. “Rin where leaving” Sesshomaru told her “hey stop right their Sesshomaru” Inuyasha yelled at him. He walked in front of his elder brother “who said you can just walk in here and tell Rin to pack up and leave” Inuyasha said.

Sesshomaru looked at him “this has nothing to do with you, I have come back to get Rin that is all” he replied. “I will wait outside Rin” he told her and walked out of the hut, “is something wrong Rin, I thought you would have been excited to see Sesshomaru again” Kagome asked her. “I am its just that I am surprised that he is actually here” Rin told her “did you think he wouldn’t come back for you” Rin nodded at Kagome’s question.

Kagome smiled at her “but he kept his promise didn’t he” Rin looked up at her “yeah he did” she replied with a smile on her face. Kagome helped Rin pack a few things for her trip back to Sesshomaru’s castle. Once everything was mounted on Ah-Un Rin was ready to say her goodbyes.

“Thank you Kagome and Inuyasha for everything you have done for me over these last few years” Kagome gave Rin a hug. Rin got on top of Ah-Un and they started to walk of “SAY GOODBYE TO KAEDE, SANGO AND MIROKU FOR ME” she yelled out to Kagome and Inuyasha. “WE WILL” Kagome yelled back, they both stood their until Rin and Sesshomaru were out of their site.

Not a single word was said since Rin had finally began her journey with Sesshomaru. Of course to her she didn’t mind not talking because just being with her lord made her very happy. Sesshomaru would sometimes look down at his ward and she had a bright smile on her face. It had been four years since he had brought her to Inuyasha’s village. He couldn’t believe how much she had changed over the years.

She was a lot taller than what she use to be and her brown hair had grown longer she didn’t have that little ponytail anymore. Sesshomaru also noticed that her body figure had changed as well, it was more slimmer and had nice body curves. She was also showing in the front but they were not completely full grown yet. Rin’s beautiful brown hair shone in the sunlight and her lovely brown eyes showed such happiness in them.

Sesshomaru had to admit to himself that his young ward looked very beautiful just like a flower. Just looking at her made him feel at peace and to be with her again made him feel complete again. He remembered the day when he had decided to take Rin to his brothers village and leave her their.

Flashback

“Milord are you sure you want to do that” Jaken asked him, they where in Sesshomaru’s study. Sesshomaru was looking out his window “I have no choice” he replied “but milord with all do respect don’t you think that this will hurt Rin” Jaken asked. “This is the only possible solution” he said. “Then I shall tell her” Jaken said, Sesshomaru turned around to face his loyal servant. “No I will tell her myself” and Sesshomaru left his study to tell Rin the news.

End of flashback

Sesshomaru had never forgotten that day and the look on Rin’s face when he told her. Even though she didn’t shed a tear he knew she wanted to cry. However she kept them in not wanting to show weakness to him. He knew that humans show emotions more easily than demons do. Even though he had a great hatred for all humans Rin was somehow different. He could never figure out the reason, all he knew that she was a unique human.

“Milord is something the matter” Rin asked him, noticing that he had been looking at her. Sesshomaru turned his face away “no Rin its nothing” he replied looking straight ahead. It would take more than a day until they would reach his castle and they had been traveling for quite a while now.

The sun was starting to set and Sesshomaru knew that it would be a good time to stop and rest for the night for Rin anyway. “We will rest here for the night” he told Rin “yes milord” she jumped of Ah-Un and stretched. Her whole body was stiff from sitting on the two headed dragon for so long. “I think I might walk tomorrow” she said to herself even though Sesshomaru heard her.

Rin walked over to her bag which was on Ah-Un and took out a muffin that Kagome had given her to eat on her trip. She sat down next to Sesshomaru “what is that” he asked looking at the strange piece of food. “This is what Kagome calls a muffin she brought them back when she went back to her time to see her family” Rin told him. “Would you like some” she offered him a piece which she broke of. “No you eat it” he told her, Rin then started to eat the muffin why Sesshomaru got up to start a fire.

Rin had fallen asleep but through the middle of the night she woke up. She sat up and noticed that Sesshomaru was no where in sight. “Lord Sesshomaru” she said in just a little whisper, Rin was getting a bit frightened sitting their by herself. She then heard a rustling sound coming from the bushes “lord Sesshomaru” she said a tad louder.

Instead of Sesshomaru coming out from the bushes a lizard type demon did instead. “Food” it said licking his lips. The demon started to walk towards Rin, she was so scared that her heart was beating really fast. ‘Lord Sesshomaru’ she was thinking of him in her head, the demon was going in for the attack. “LORD SESSHOMARU” Rin yelled out and before the demon knew it Sesshomaru had jumped in front of her and sliced the demons head of with his poison whip.

Rin had her eyes closed shut really tight “Rin” she then heard a low voice calling her. Rin looked up and saw Sesshomaru just standing their looking at her. Rin tried to hold her tears in but she couldn’t. She grabbed onto Sesshomaru’s waist and cried getting wet tears all over the front of his clothes.

Sesshomaru looked down at her, she looked completely helpless just holding onto him and crying. This was the first time he had actually seen her cry, on all those travels they went on Rin had never shed one tear. It seemed that after being separated from him for all this time her emotions were showing. It seemed that she wasn’t crying just because a demon almost attacked her. Rin was also crying because she was so glad that she was with him again.

“Rin”, she looked up at him, her eyes where all red and her cheeks were wet from all the tears. “Wipe your tears and get some rest we leave in just a few hours” he told her “yes milord” she replied. Rin walked over to the same tree she had been under and fell asleep again and this time Sesshomaru stayed beside her the whole night.

Morning came rather quickly and they where soon of again it wouldn’t be that long until they got back to the castle. Rin remembered when she had first arrived their, she couldn’t believe how incredible it was. She had noticed that their was a bare patch in the garden so she had asked Sesshomaru if she could plant some flowers. He allowed it and that gave her something to do, she would spend nearly all day looking after them.

Sesshomaru had decided that he would let Rin back in the same room she had before she left. Rin’s room happened to be straight opposite his because some of the female demons didn’t like Rin. So he thought it would be better if she had a room closer to his so he could make sure she was safe.

Sesshomaru cherished Rin but he would never admit it to anyone especially Inuyasha. Ever since he had revived her from the dead he had always protected her when ever she was in danger. He would never allow any harm come to her, many demons in the castle never understood why he kept a human with him. Most of all the female demons in his home and those who visit which want to be his mate always got rather jealous of Rin.

They came upon a hill top and down below stood Sesshomaru’s castle which once was Rin’s home. It looked just the same as she remembered it, she was looking forward to seeing Jaken again and to see her garden. ‘I am sure all the flowers are blossoming really brightly’ she thought to herself.

They soon arrived at the castle gates and two demon guards opened them up when they saw Sesshomaru coming. Their waiting at the entrance was Jaken “Master Jaken” Rin ran straight up to him and gave him a big hug. “Rin your chocking me” he said barely breathing “oh sorry master Jaken its just that I’m so happy to see you again” she told him letting go. “Milord welcome back I see that your trip went well” Jaken said slightly bowing. “Yes and how were things why I was gone” Sesshomaru asked him.

Jaken looked up at his lordship “everything is fine” he replied “Sesshomaru dear your home” came a woman’s voice. Rin looked up and on top of the front stairs was a lady demon wearing a beautiful golden and silver kimono. Jaken stood where he was but Rin had run behind Sesshomaru’s leg. The demonness slowly walked down the steps and walked towards Sesshomaru.

She was just about to kiss him when he turned his face and she ended up kissing his cheek instead. “My no kiss well I am disappointed” she said taking a step back, she looked down and saw a small hand grasping on Sesshomaru’s pants. “I take it this is the human you had gone and collected” she asked. Rin peaked to look at the lady “disgusting human well she will defiantly be sleeping with the pigs where she belongs” she said.

“Jaken take Rin to her usual room” Sesshomaru told him “yes milord” he took Rin’s hand and took her inside. Sesshomaru was about to follow when he felt a hand grab his arm “Sesshomaru your not actually allowing that thing in the castle” she asked. Sesshomaru yanked his arm away from her grasp “what I do is my business not yours Esha” he told her and then walked inside. “Well we will see about that” she said to herself and followed inside as well.

Jaken and Rin had arrived at her old room, she opened the big doors and walked inside. Everything was the same, the same bed the same furniture even the same curtains. “Lord Sesshomaru had provided you with some new clothes which are in your cupboard” Jaken said. “When you left he had decided to keep things the way they are for your return” he then told her.

“Is this to your liking” Rin turned around and Sesshomaru was standing in the door way. “Oh yes thank you so much lord Sesshomaru” she replied. “Jaken leave us” he told the toad “yes milord” he left the room and closed the doors behind him.

Rin sat down on her bed it still felt the same just as she remembered it, Sesshomaru walked over and sat down next to her. “Lord Sesshomaru may I ask you something” she said “you want to know who she was” he had already guessed what she wanted to know. Rin nodded her head meaning yes. “Her name is Esha she is the lady of the western lands and also my mate” he told her. Rin’s eyes widened with shock but she calmed down after letting that information sink in.

Rin looked down at her lap ‘he has a mate I guess I should be happy for him’ she thought to herself. “I am very happy for you milord” she told him with a smile but Sesshomaru could tell that was a fake smile she was giving him. It had seemed that the news about him having a mate sort of upset her in a way. “Is that the reason why you sent me away because you were looking for a mate” she asked him.

“Yes but the reasons are my own and not yours to question” he told her “I understand” Rin replied. She stood up and walked over to the opened window the view was amazing she looked down below and she saw the small flower bed that she had made. “It seems that the flowers are in full bloom this year” she mostly said to herself.

Sesshomaru walked over to her and stood about a feet behind her the wind blew her hair to the side revealing the back of her neck. To Sesshomaru’s eyes her skin looked so soft and perfect to touch.

“Lord Sesshomaru does lady Esha hate me” she asked him still looking out of the window. Sesshomaru knew that his mate disliked Rin the moment he told her that he was going to bring Rin back. She had argued with him many times about how she didn’t want Rin to come back and live under the same roof she did. Knowing Sesshomaru he just completely ignored her, the only reason he mated with her was because she was the daughter of the lord of the south and because she could give him a strong heir.

He had never intended on loving her or even had the slightest bit of attraction towards her. He just mostly used her as his own devices. After Esha had given birth to his son which was three years ago he didn’t intend on having any others. Of course his mate wanted more but Sesshomaru just told her to find someone else. He had absolutely no need for another pup and his first one already was driving him up the wall.

Sesshomaru just stared at Rin’s back and decided to answer her question “I will be honest with you Rin but yes she does” he told her. “I thought so” Rin replied, she turned around to look at him. “Even though she hates me I will not let it get to me because I am finally home” she told Sesshomaru.

A single tear rolled down the side of her face, Sesshomaru brought his hand up and brushed away her tear with his finger. He kept his hand on her cheek “welcome home” he replied in a mere whisper so only she could hear.
