Demon's and Humans through Time and Space

This is my first self-insert so give me a chance. Though I am not keeping about where I really live my personality and the way I dress will still be me in this story.

I am going to change the titles of Inuyasha slightly to fit my self-insert story. Hope you enjoy all flames and criticism will be welcomed as well. I am watching each episode as I write this so I do not stray of the story too much.

Disclaimer: I love Inuyasha it is my fav anime at the moment though I do not own any of the characters or plot except my self in this story.

Prologue: Demons and Humans through time and space

It was a bright, sunny and seemingly normal day as I walked along the street to my home from work. I brought my arm across my face to wipe away the sweat that had accumulated on my skin from working hard, my other hand holding the strap of my bag as it dug in to my shoulder, my breath coming out in tired pants. I sighed tiredly as I looked up at the run down place that I call home. The paint was cracked and not looked after, the door had cracked glass, the lawn had overgrown and needed to be cut badly and everything was in a general state of disrepair, but this was my home and, although I did not like it, it was all Mum and I had left, after Father disappeared. We were not able to keep enough money, but we survived as best as we could. I was already skinny to begin with, but I had begun to lose even more weight and now looked sickly. Mum herself was actually sick and unable to work, so I had to do all the chores in the house just for us to get by.

Making my way up the path, I pulled out my key to the front door as quietly as possible in case I woke up my mother, who was usually sleeping this time of day. Entering our dilapidated abode, I snuck quietly up the stairs to my almost completely empty bedroom and closed my eyes as I leant against the cold hard wood of the door as I allowed my bag to fall onto the floor. I stood there for a minute, quietly allowing myself to try to see the light of the situation, then opened m eyes, and quietly assessed my room.
My room was the only place in the house with anything worth seeing. Dragon ornaments proudly lined my walls on shelves that also contained as many books as I could read. there was a chest of draws over in the upper left hand corner and a bed on the upper right along the left there were bookshelves which held over 50 books of many different interests to me and on the right stood a desk with my computer on it, a TV which was on a small chest of draws and a small bookshelf that held all my movies and games and anything else that had caught my attention.

I also had a blood red coloured carpet on the floor, Dark purple walls, a silver rug in the middle of my carpet and posters on any space that showed what I was in to at that time. I had posters of music groups, video games and anime/movies, all that I managed to get from bargain bins around town. My biggest posters were those of Inuyasha, a recent acquisition to my list of animes, having recently gotten into it after being told about how great it was.

Oh, who am I, you ask? My name is Shade Shadow, an 18 year old girl who is as pale as milk with ginger (almost golden, actually) curly hair reaching mid back when straight and blue eyes with flecks of Silver and Green in them. I’m pretty short, around 5ft 4in, and quite thin. I wear glasses because my eyesight is pretty bad, and love dragons, drawing, writing fanfiction, anime and wearing as much black leather as I can.

Moving over to my chest of drawers, I changed into a pair of black leather trousers that moulded themselves to my hips, a black silk button up shirt and a leather jacket then tied up my hair with a black ribbon with a clip, and placed a necklace with a dragon going to fly holding a symbol of damnation, a ring with crystals all around in on my middle finger of my left hand and a bracelet of a long land dragon circling my wrist. I tossed my glasses on top of the drawers, ignoring my blurry eyesight and flopped down onto my bed, snagging my notebook with my pictures and fanfics. I rolled onto my back as I began to flip pages until I came to a folded picture.

It was a picture of me in Inuyasha’s world as a half demon. I had drawn myself with long silver hair like Inuyasha’s, and golden eyes, the claws on my feet and fangs in my mouth as well as the dog ears on top of my head. I would be a little weaker than Inuyasha though, I mused, but definitely faster. I’d definitely have sharpened senses as well, just like all inu youkais, but with probably a bit more control over my demon side. My personality definitely wouldn’t change though: still quiet and reserved and keeping my feelings inside. I’d pretty much look the same human though, my hair a little more golden, but other than that, completely normal.

I finally put the picture away and got off my bed to kneel on the ground and pull out my backpack which held a hairbrush, ties, small packs of dried food and some tins, a tin opener, pens, pencils, a medical kit, certain “time of the month” items, my watch, two empty writing pads, £30, a small knife, a couple of small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, towels, soap, A waterproof coat , 4 water bottles, my MP3 player that held over 600 songs, a pack of batteries , a small blanket, a small blow up pillow, an amber crystal, a necklace of a dragon holding a bloodstone, a torch, a small pump and 5 days of clothes. Everything was in sealed water proof bags.

I was going to put it back when I noticed a glow near the TV. Holding my pack, I got up, walked over to it, and kneeled down in front of it, my heart pounding in my chest. I could see through the glow at what looked like a small cloudy ball just big enough to fit in the palm of my hand. Without realising it, my hand began to move towards it, as if I needed to touch it. Scared, I tried to pull my hand back, but to no avail, as it moved closer until suddenly my fingers touched it.

All at once the world faded away to nothingness around me. I seemed to be floating in absolute darkness. I called out as loudly as possible, wildly hoping that someone, anyone would answer, but there was none. Just as I was about to go in hysterics and scream my lungs out, someone appeared in front of me. I jerked back startled, my eyes widening as I looked at her and her me.

“Who the hell are you?” I was startled as I heard my voice echo through the nothingness, but the woman in front of me did not reply. She just looked at me coolly, with an unfathomable expression on her face, until I began to fidget in nervousness. I hated it when people stared at me.

“I brought you here to help someone in need.”

I looked at her bewildered and took several steps back as my finger pointed at myself.

“Who, me? You have got the wrong person I’m no good.”

She gave me another stern look and I took another step back, her glares getting the better than me. “I phrased my words wrongly; you are going to help someone who needs you.” My jaw dropped as I continued to blink at her wide eyed. My mind caught up to what she said and my jaw clicked shut as my eyes narrowed in to a glare of my own as I stalked forward and poked her in the chest.

“Who are you to boss me around lady?” I asked, incensed. “I’m not going to help anyone! The only thing that’s going to happen is you taking me home. Got it?” I stood glaring, my jaw clenched waiting for an answer when her hand darted to my own. I tried to dodge but she was fast, far too fast for anyone normal, and she pushed me to my knees, as she gripped my hand and bent it back. I clawed at her hand with my free one, but to no avail as she tightened her grip on my wrist. Her other hand settled just above my hair.

“I am sorry to have pulled you from your life, but this is the only way I can save my son’s life from going to hell. You are the only one who can help him.” I looked up at her, shock registering on my pallid features, as she looked down at me sadly. “I am sorry.” Suddenly, she began to chant.

“Lim nary nary nou nary nary eah meh na cou seh lan.” All at once my body felt like it was on fire, pain radiating from every pore as changes began to happen to me. The woman let go of my wrist, and I fell forward, as she moved away. I cried out as my body twitched with the pain, my eyes shut tight as sweat gathered on my body. All of a sudden, the pain stopped. My body relaxing, I sighed in relief as I opened my tired eyes. The woman was still in front of me, a small smile on her face as she reached out and tucked a lock of hair behind my ear.

“I am sorry for the pain but to get close to my son you need to look like him.”

I blinked up at her slowly, having no clue what she meant by all this, but said nothing, my brain too exhausted to think up a sentence.

“After your journey I will give you two choices; once at the end and the other a month later. In between this time, I will contact you through your dreams to give you advice and answer your questions as often as I can.” Her eyes became sad as her hand moved down my face and slid under my chin, lifting up my head until I was looking in to her eyes.

“Until I contact you, Shade, go find the one named Lady Kaede, and she will help you.”
She let go of my chin, and I shut my eyes, my consciousness fading away even as she continued to speak. “You will only have a week to get used to your body and find out the attacks you can use. Kagome Higurashi will be there in a week so you had better be prepared.”

Her voice faded away as my mind drifted into a deep sleep.
Several Hours later…

It was the singing of the birds that woke me first, even though I really did not want to get up. I was not a morning person, but in the end I had to move as sleep evaded me. I opened my eyes and sat up, blinking sleepily. I got up and rubbed my eyes, stretching as I heard my back crack, then felt stabs of pain through my body. I winced, now completely awake, and looked down at myself. Dark patches had appeared through the leather and silk I was wearing and sticking to the wounds that I had not realised was there. I sniffed as I realised that I could smell my own blood, but pushed it aside as I took in my surroundings. I was in a forest, in front of a massive tree that was so tall that I could not see the top.

A boy around the age of 15 was pinned to a tree by an arrow and was covered in vines and roots, looking as if he had been there for a while. Curious, I walked over and climbed up onto a large root that looked twice as thick as myself and walked along it until I reached in front of the boy. I tilted my head at him, a blush staining my face as I stared. He was quite handsome even asleep, with silver hair that framed his face. Suddenly I noticed a pair of dog ears on top of his head, and I grinned and was about to touch them when my fingers caught my attention. On the end of each of my finger was a claw. I stared at them, and then shrugged my shoulders.

“Perhaps I forgot to cut them?”

Shaking my head, I glanced back at his ears and then reached up to touch them again. I ran my index finger down the outsides of his ears, marvelling at how soft they were. Suddenly the ear moved back slightly and I jumped, afraid, but all that happened was the ear moving back in to place.

All of a sudden, I heard the twanging of bows. Arrows hit the tree all around me and I hid my face in the lad’s long sleeved shirt, scared. Men cane out of nowhere, placing their bows on their backs and ambushed me, pulling me away from the pinioned boy and tying me up. As they dragged me away, I looked behind me at the boy hoping to see him again. If only there was a way to free him from the tree it seemed cruel to have him hanging there…

I sat on the pallet in the middle of the village, shocked at the time scheme this place seemed to have adopted, wooden shacks, topknots, ancient clothing, bows and arrows. I was terribly confused at this, and I didn’t get any more enlightened as I heard mutterings from the village people, catching the words dog-demon several times. Suddenly the crowd parted and an old woman wearing the same type of outfit as everyone else came up to me as she leaned on a bow with a patch over one eye.

“Make way for High Priestess Kaede,” a man shouted and she hobbled until she was directly in front of me. I looked up at her helplessly as she stopped in front of me and handed her bow over to the man who had called out. She brought forward a leather bag and reached into it. She brought her hand out and threw some foul-smelling powder at me. I gritted my teeth and whipped my head to one side.

“Demon, begone!” she yelled as she threw more powder at me, making me cough.

“Hey, cut it out! I am no demon.”

Kaede fixed a one-eyed stare at me and frowned. “If so, then why do ye have the dog-ears of a half dog-demon?”

I blinked up at her in utter confusion “What ears?”

“WHAT IN GOD’S NAME HAPPENED TO ME?” I gaped disbelieving at my reflection that showed a silver haired, golden-eyed, half-dog demon complete with pointy ears, gawking back with the same shocked expression as I must have had on my visage. “What happened to cause ye so much shock, young one?” I looked up at Kaede, my mouth still half open as I tried to get round this situation.

“Less than 24 hours ago, I looked human. Though now I have the feeling that the dream I had is not just a dream now.” Kaede glanced at me and sat on the other side of a pit, which had a fire going and some hot stew in a pot.

“Tell me about this dream.”

So I told her everything that had happened from me touching the odd light, to meeting the woman and the pain I went through.

“She told me to find a Lady Kaede. I guess that must be you.”

Kaede nodded as she spooned out some stew in to a bowl and held it out to me.

“Stew?”

I looked up from where I had been gazing in to space and smiled gently as I reached out. “Thank you.”

Kaede nodded and put the ladle back in its place and turned to me. “I would suggest ye stay here and learn in the forest of Inuyasha how to use your abilities. If she said ye will need them then you must learn.” I nodded my head and shifted as I finally noticed the weight on my back. Kaede looked at me as I slid off my pack and brought it in front of me.

“How did this…?” I looked at it questioningly and then looked up a Kaede as she returned my look. I held out my pack, a small grin on my face. “Can I keep this here?”
