Love and a Hanyou

Title: Love and a Hanyou

A/N:I'm currently rewriting this story, because I realized the other day that it needed some polishing, so bear with me, and I get it done. I did a bit today, but I worked third shift last night, so I'm gonna go crash ppl's. . . .but I promise I'll have this done soon!


'Thoughts'


~Feudal Era: Inuyasha~

Inuyasha sat under the Goshinbuku Tree, and waited. . . . . "Stupid wench, Feh, I don't see why she's gotta take those dumb tester things all the damned time. ." He muttered as he waited. He had barely moved from this spot since yesterday. Kagome had gone back to her time to catch up with school work, and forbidden the hanyou to come with her. . .

+Flashback+

"No, Inuyasha, you ARE going to stay here. . . It's not that I don't enjoy you're company, BUT, these tests are very important. These are the final tests that I will take this year, and they will determine whether or not I get to pass on to the next grade. You always distract me when I'm trying to study, I can't have that. I can't fail these tests, they are too important! Besides, I promise you can come next time, ok?" Kagome said trying to distract the hanyou enough to slip into the well before he could notice.

"NO, you ain't goin without me! Every time you go back, you're always late!! We are to close to finding the rest of those damned shards for the Jewel. It's your damned fault we have to search for them anyway, bitch. YOU shattered the fucking "Shikon No Tama". So either I go with you to make sure you come back quickly, or you just don't go at all. ."
He replied smartly.

Kagome looked at the stubborn hanyou with as sweet and innocent a face as she could manage, and said in sugary sweet tones, "Inuyasha?"

'Uh-oh, me and my damned big mouth' he thought suddenly dreading the next words out of the miko's mouth.

"OSUWARI! Osuwari, osuwari, osuwari, osuwari, osuwari, OSUWARI!!" Kagome yelled just as she started to climb over the rim of the old well, and then glanced back.
"I promise I won't be gone long, ok?" she said, suddenly calm again, as she looked at the hanyou at the bottom of his very deep crater. "I'm just gonna take my test, get supplies and come back. I'll be back in three days, besides, we don't have to worry about Naraku getting them before us anymore, now do we?" She said as she jumped into the well and was engulfed in a shimmery blue light.

+End Flashback+

"Keh, you've already had two days in your era, wench. One more day, and I'm comin after ya. Hmph!" He muttered under his breath.

'You know you don't miss her because she's just your shard detector, you know that right, bouzo?' his conscience told him.

'What the hell is that supposed to mean? I love Kikyo. . . . . .and Kagome. . .shit! But Kagome doesn't even like me in that way. . . You and I both know her well enough to know that she says whatever's on her mind. I would know by now if she wanted me,' he responded.

'Maybe she's afraid to tell you? Did you ever think of that dumbass? She probably thinks you don't really like her at all. . . Especially with how mean you are to her. . .' was the response he was granted.

But, before he could respond, he saw one of Kikyo's soul collector's floating slowly through the forest. 'Kikyo', he thought as he got up and took off after it.

~Present Day: Kagome~

'I can't believe it, he actually didn't come after me, oh well, at least I can surprise him when I get back a whole day and half earlier than I thought!' she thought to herself as she finished packing the rest of the new supplies she had purchased for all of her adventures. She had learned that you can never have enough first aid supplies on hand, especially after the intense battle with Naraku, who they had finally been able to get rid of. It had been a long, drawn out battle, but in the end good did triumph over evil.

They still had quite a few shards to collect though. Her biggest worry was, just exactly what was going to happen to her once they finally completed the jewel. . .

Would she get to stay in the past with her friends?

Would she be brought back to her own time?

Or would the well still work the same as it always had?

She had no clue, but she would accept her fate, no matter what it happened to be. . .
'There, finally I got everything I need in here' she thought as she grinned, exited her room and headed down the stairs to the front door of the house. "Mom!"

"Yes, darling?"

"I'm going back now, wanted to let you know so that you wouldn't worry! Say goodbye to Souta and Grandpa for me, please?"

"Thank you, Kagome. Be careful out there!"

"Always, Love you mom!"

"Love you daughter!"

With her goodbye's taken care of, she ran to the old well house and quickly opened the door. She stepped over to the edge of the well, and decided to go ahead and toss her backpack in before she jumped in herself. 'Oh, boy do I ever hope that Inuyasha's waiting for me like he usually is. . . I don't think I'll be able to lug this heavy pack up and out of the well by myself. . .'

~Feudal Era: Kagome~

She looked up and saw the familiar sky of feudal Japan, and sighed. Everything just seemed fresher here. The air was definitely much better now than it was in her time. There was no way you could walk outside in the big city of Tokyo and not notice the rancid smell of smog.

She climbed up the inside of the well using some old, but sturdy looking vines and roots that protruded from the inside walls. When she finally hauled herself up and over the side, she rested for a few moments before looking around to see if Inuyasha was under the Goshinbuku. She caught him just sitting there, and thinking, almost everytime she returned. 'Oh well,' she thought, 'He must have had to go to the village for something, I guess I'll just lug that sucker up her by myself.' Several minutes later, she finally accomplished her goal, and hefted up the pack to head into Edo.

As she turned to start down the path that would take her to Edo, she glimpsed a white wyrm floating through the air in the woods. . . "Oh Kami-sama, Kikyo's finally come to make Inuyasha follow through on his promise, no no no no no no no no. . ."
She started to panic, dropped her heavy pack on the ground, and headed in the same direction as the undead miko's soul collector had.

'Nonononnononononono' kept repeating in her mind as she raced through the forest after the creature. . . .

Finally, she came up on a clearing in the middle of the forest and saw the hanyou she loved. . . .embracing Kikyo. . .

Once again, as has happened so many times before, Kagome was frozen in her tracks as she watched the only man she would ever love, confess his undying feelings for a walking clay pot. And once again, she felt the tears course down her face as she watched and listened to what was taking place right in front of her very eyes.

~Feudal Era: Kikyo~

As soon as she had seen Inuyasha enter the clearing after her soul collector, she ran to embrace him, hoping that her reincarnation would not be far behind. She wanted her to see that she could never take what rightfully belonged to her, and always would. . .Inuyasha's heart and soul were her's, to do with as she pleased. It was about damned time that foolish child accepted this reality.

Not that she actually cared for this pathetic bastard she was now embracing. He was a HANYOU for Kami's sake! Knowing that he even wanted her made her physically sick. Touching him was even worse, but she had learned to endure it.

Even though she held no feelings for this half-demon, other than outrageous contempt, she would continue on with this farce as long as it took. That idiotic little copy of herself needed to learn a lesson: 'Life IS pain'. It was a lesson she had learned well after all her dealings with Naraku.

As soon as she knew she had broken the little bitch, she would banish this hanyou to hell. . . And take her rightful place in the afterlife, as far away from hell as she could get. She wondered if either one of them realized that she planned to leave him to literally, rot in hell, all by himself. . . .for the rest of eternity. .

She happened to glance up just in time to see her reincarnation arrive at the edge of the clearing, and freeze up, just before she ducked behind a tree, to hide out of sight. She smirked at the sight. She had purposefully had one of her soul collectors lead the girl to that particular spot because it was downwind of Inuyasha and herself. The stupid half-breed would never even know she was there. . . Not until there was absolutely nothing he could do to repair the damage they were about to inflict on the girl. Kikyo smirked, 'this is gonna be good'

She noticed that Inuyasha was trying to look over his shoulder to see what had captured her attention, so she leaned back from Inuyasha just enough to look into his eyes and gently caress his cheek. As she tried to hide the revulsion she felt at his closeness to herself, she asked him this question, "Inuyasha. . .Do you still love me?"

~Feudal Era: Inuyasha~

As soon as he felt Kikyo's arms accept him into a close embrace, he felt himself tense up. He sensed her as she raised her head and seemed to look at something behind him in the forest. When he turned to see what it was that she was looking at, she leaned some, looked into his eyes and asked him, "Inuyasha. . . .Do you still love me?"


He suddenly realized that Kikyo was speaking again, "Do you love me?"
"Yes, Kikyo, I still love you, and I always will," and before he could finish what he was saying, she had leaned up and covered his mouth with her own. . .

~Feudal Era: Kagome~

"Yes, Kikyo, I still love you and I always will. . ."

'I still love you'
Tears started to pour from her eyes. . .

'I knew he loved her, don't cry Kagome, YOU KNEW'
Her heart slowly started to crack. . .

'Always will'
She knew she just wanted for him to be happy, but had always hoped that one day he would be happy with HER

'I still love you and always will'
She also knew that she couldn't live without him. . .the pain was too much to bear. . .

In a state of shock, she slowly turned around, and ran off into the night as quietly as possible. . .


~Feudal Era: Kikyo~

"Yes, Kikyo, I still love you and I always will. . ."

As soon as the words left his mouth she gathered a tremendous amount of will, steeled herself, and leaned up to kiss him. As soon as they parted she looked back to where she had last seen her reincarnation, and saw that the girl was running away as quietly as possible. Her plan was working out perfectly, and because she's still retained a bit of her own soul, she knew that the girl had been hurt deeply. . .

Hopefully deeply enough to rid the world of herself. . .then Kikyo would be able to claim the rest of her soul for herself.

She smirked and looked up at Inuyasha, "Looks like that stupid child copy of me finally realized that you belong to me"

Inuyasha looked down at her confused, she knew very well he had no idea what she was talking about. . . .and then the direction of the wind changed. . .

~Feudal Era: Inuyasha~

Feeling very confused after what she had just said to him, he felt the wind change direction, and it brought with it a scent that he would know anywhere. . .

"Kagome," he muttered, suddenly feeling fear with it, her scent carried the smells of extreme sadness and an undercurrent of impending death. .

"She was here the entire time, and saw everything that transpired. Oh well, that's just one less thing you have to worry about now. . Maybe this will be the trick needed to get her to kill herself, then I can get my soul back" Kikyo said much too cheerfully for his liking. .

It was like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over his head, and he realized she had just used him to get her own soul back. For some reason though, he found it didn't matter that she had just used him and didn't really love him as she had said. He used to be filled with a love for her that was so powerful it was like his whole soul lit up whenever she was near him. . .but now? He felt nothing. . .he still loved Kikyo, in a way, but for some reason it just didn't seem as intense as before.

At first, he wondered why he was having such a reaction to the woman he had once loved with his entire heart. . . .

Suddenly, it was like a lightbulb went off over his head. . .once loved. Not to say he didn't love her anymore, but he had finally just realized that she was no longer the woman who occupied most of his waking thoughts these days.

Kagome. . .

He searched deep in heart and in his soul and saw that Kagome had slowly become his whole world. . .

+Flashback+
"Inuyasha, I love you as a Hanyou!" Kagome exclaimed with an expression of love on her face.
+End Flashback+

She had always accepted him just as he was, a hanyou, whereas for Kikyo, he would have had to become a human. . . .

+Flashback+
"Why were you crying?"

"I thought I had lost you," Kagome said as she looked down at him, his head resting in her lap.
*a little later*
"Your smell is nice"

"Oh please, you've made it a point to tell me as often as possible that my smell is disgusting to you"

"I lied"
+End Flashback+

She had shed tears for him, and had almost died for him. . .
No one else had done that for him since his mother had died, not even Kikyo had shed tears for him. . .

"But, Inuyasha, I thought you loved me. . ." he heard a whining voice cry behind him.
He turned toward Kikyo, and no longer saw the women he once loved, and couldn't contain his feelings anymore. . .
"You are not Kikyou, she was loving, and caring to everyone. . .I wasn't good enough for her because she wanted a human Inuyasha. She didn't love me for me. . .And now I might have lost the only woman who loves me just as I am. . .I'm such a baka. . "
He could no longer hold back the tears he felt falling to his face, and he roared,
"Kagome, I'm coming, please don't do anything rash before I can get to you. . .my love," and took off in the direction of the Bone Eater's Well. . . .

~Feudal Era: Kikyo~

So focused was she on the retreating half-breed that she didn't notice the much stronger demonic aura approaching her rapidly. Didn't notice until said youkai had her held by her throat up against a tree.

"Sesshoumaru" she hissed with venom.

"This Sesshoumaru, will not allow you to claim the half-breed for yourself, dead bitch." he ground out in a snarl of a reply.

"Let me guess, you are the only one to 'own' such an honor, hmm?" She sneered at him.

"I only tell you this, because I know that when that piece of soul you have returns to it's rightful owner, she will know the truth of what it is I say to you now." He growled.

"What would that truth be, Oh high and mighty one? Hmm?" Kikyo spat out at him.

"No one shall kill my brother,"

"Half brother you mean, ne?" Kikyo interrupted

"SILENCE when I SPEAK to you, BITCH! No one shall kill my BROTHER! Not even this Sesshoumaru. Is That Understood? Good, now die!"

And with his last words he plunged his fist through the dead bitch's chest and freed the rest of Kagome's soul, and then watched as the miko who had hurt his brother more times to count, slowly dissappeared into nothing but dust. . .

~Feudal Era: Kagome~

She ran back towards the well and her pack as fast as her legs would take her, crying the entire way there.

She knew what she was going to do would be painful physically, but nothing could hurt worse than what she had just witnessed. . .

When she finally reached the clearing where her pack was, she dug through it until she found some of the crayons and paper she had brought back for Shippo. Her hand grasped a blood red crayon and she wrote as quickly as she could manage. . .

Once her note was written, she grabbed one of her arrows and walked over to the Goshinbuku Tree, and impaled her note there, she knew if he or anyone else came to the well they would see and would know what she had done. . .

She grabbed her pack, and slowly left the clearing and began her last walk on this earth. . .she knew of a hot spring nearby that was rarely used. . .

In fact, it was actually quite a beautiful spot, Inuyasha had shown it too her one time a few years back, and told her that he had lived in the cave right beside it. . .

He said he had never taken anybody there, not even Kikyo, so she had felt extra special to know that he trusted her with one of his secrets. . .

That night they had played around in bathing suits in the springs, and afterwards while relaxing they had decided that they would name it "Their Special Place".
While not the most imaginative names, it was nice to have a secret that only the two of them shared. . . .

~Feudal Era: Inuyasha~

He finally arrived at the well and looked around frantically. His eyes passed over the sacred tree many times before he had realized there was a piece of paper stuck to the tree with an arrow. . . .in the exact same spot where he had been trapped for 50 years.

He ran over and tore the paper from the arrow and read it as quickly as possible:

Inuyasha,

Even though you love Kikyo, I still have to tell you this. . . I should have told you before, whether you felt the same towards me or not. . .

Inuyasha, I love you, and my love only gets stronger with every beat of my heart. . .

I know I said I would never make you choose between the two of us, but the pain is too much for me to live with. . .

I know that you are the only man. . .hanyou. . . That I will ever love . . .

I don't want to come between you and Kikyo, so I have decided that I will leave this world and journey on to the next. . .

Kikyo will get her soul back and maybe she'll be brought back to life. . .
Truly alive, breathing, and eating and everything. . .
Then you could be happy. . .

I left this letter for you so that you would know where my body was
Please take it back to my era, so that my family can bury me with honor. . .

I'll be at our Special Place. . .


I'll love you for the rest of eternity,

Kagome

*end letter*

"NOOOO!! I have to stop her. . .I have to tell her" He cried out in anguish as the tears rolled down his face. He took off at top speed towards 'Their Special Place'
~Feudal Era: Kagome~

She reached the hot springs, and set down her pack. As soon as she had done so, she started to rifle through the contents until she found what she was looking for. . .

'Ah-ha found it!' she thought grimly, and brought out a sharp paring knife she kept with her at all times, it came in handy when she needed to cut up vegetables or fruit. It might not be the fanciest thing in the world, but it would serve her purposes for tonight.

She slowly disrobed and waded into the water, and moved over to an underwater ledge, to sit down and make herself comfortable. Once she was settled, she sat there and stared at the blade, working up her courage to get the act over with as quickly as possible.

Finally, she slowly raised the blade over her right wrist and started to make a diagonal slice down her arm, when she was suddenly jolted. . . . . the rest of her soul had come back. That meant Kikyo was dead. . .

She transferred the knife to her other hand, and settled back in the springs.
She wiggled around to get a little more comfortable, but was startled when she heard a loud crashing coming her way. . .

"Kagome!! Kagome NOOOO! Don't do it! Please, please, Kami-sama let me make it in time. . ." She heard Inuyasha yelling, his voice cracked a couple of times and she knew he was crying as well. . .

Crying for her?

~Feudal Era: Inuyasha~

He used his demonic speed to run through the forest faster than he had ever moved before, "Kagome! Kagome NOOOO! Don't do it! Please, please, Kami-sama let me make it in time. . ." His voice cracked on the last word, and he felt tears streaming down his face faster than rain falls from the sky.

Finally, he had made it to the hot springs, but what he found there surprised him beyond all belief. . .she was just sitting there, she still had the knife in her hands but she had not made any cuts yet, thank the Kami's. But his panic began anew as he saw her suddenly faint.


~Feudal Era: Kagome~

She woke up in his arms, and the first thing she saw were two worried and saddened amber orbs staring into her eyes. "Inuyasha, what are you doing, just. . .just let me die in peace please? I know you don't love me, you love Kikyo. Please, just let me go. . .please" she whispered and shut her eyes.

"No," He replied forcefully, "I'll never let you go Kagome. ."

"But why, why do you want to torture me with the pain of existence? I don't care if it sounds petty or childish, but I can't live without you. . ." She said as the tears started flowing again.

"Then, I guess you'll just have to have me then. ." He said as held her closer to him.

"What?!" her eyes flew open at his words, and she started to get angry, "I don't want you to be with me because you pity me"

"Kagome?" he said softly.

"What?!" she snapped.

"You're such a baka," he said as he leaned down to capture her lips with his own. He pulled back and looked into her eyes, and she gasped.

She had never seen his eyes so full of love before, hope suddenly blossomed in her heart again. Was it possible?
Could he love her as much as she loved him?

Before she could ponder it any longer, he answered her unspoken question, "Kagome, don't ever try to leave me again? Please? I can't live without you, Onegai, I love you so much, I. . . .I just didn't know how to tell you before. . .Forgive me, my Kagome?"

She looked into his eyes again, and saw the sincerity in his words, joy filled her heart. "Inuyasha, I love you too! I've loved you for such a long time. . ." She cupped his face with both of her hands, and gently pulled him closer to her. "Aishiteru, Inu" she said as she leaned in and brushed her lips across his.

Letting out a quiet moan, he placed a hand behind her head, and crushed her lips against his. She felt him gently nibble her bottom lip, and felt as he slowly ran his tongue along her bottom lip, silently begging her for entrance. She happily obliged, and she danced her tongue over his teeth lightly before he pushed her tongue back, and plundered the depths of her mouth with his own.

Kagome broke the kiss, she needed air. . .
And then realized she was completely naked. . .

~Feudal Era: Inuyasha~

He looked down when she broke away, and suddenly noticed she was blushing from head to toe. .

He smirked, he always had wanted to know how far down that blush went. . .

Then he noticed that she was naked,
And wet,
And he could smell her arousal in the air. . .

Kagome was naked
Kagome was wet
Kagome was aroused

He suddenly felt himself growing uncomfortably hard, and tried to shift her in his lap so that she wouldn't notice how 'happy' junior was. . .
But his hand slipped on her side and she ended up right in his lap. . .
'Kami-sama, this is torture'
He noticed she suddenly blushed a deep cherry tomato red, but she didn't move away from him. . .
Then, she suddenly slid her hips closer to his own, and leaned forward, pressing her breasts into his chest, as she kissed him once more. . . .

"Kagome, as much as I am enjoying this. . .we need to stop. ." He told her as he broke away from her kiss. .

"Why?" she asked innocently.

"Because in a minute, I'm not gonna be able to stop. . ."

"Who said I wanted to stop?"

"You know that Inu youkai mate for life, right?"

"Yes, I know that Inu. ." She smiled.

"Y-Yo You mean you want to be my mate? Really? That mean's you'll be with me forever. . . .you sure this is what you want?" He said disbelief evident on his features.

"Inu-chan, I love you, only you. . .even if we don't do this, you will be the only man I'll ever love. EVER. . .I love you. . I love you. . .I love you" She said and smiled up at him.

"Kagome. . .Aishiteru, " he whispered as he leaned down to kiss her again. . .
