Playing With Fire
Chapter One

“Hey, Kagome, good to see you. How did your trip go?” a familiar male voice called out from the beachfront, earning said female’s attention.

“Shippou? Oh, wow, it’s good to see you too! Damn fiasco if you ask me.” She replied, walking up to him, her red two piece bikini showing off all of her curves.

“Really, how so?” he asked, gesturing for her to have a seat next to him on one of the nearby benches.

She smirked. “The company was horrible, and I just couldn’t see myself fucking that guy. I mean, seriously, the tattoos were a nightmare. Creepy, really.” She said, waving her hand off lightly.

“Oh, like you can talk.” He smirked, his green eyes lighting up a bit, teasing her.

“I only have one tattoo, and there’s no one, and I mean, no one that’s going to see it!” she emphasized, narrowing her eyes lightly at him.

“Still…that’s hot.” He smirked again, having fun teasing her.

“Oh, well I can just call up Rin and tell her where to look for a certain piercing of yours, can’t I?” she smirked back, turning the tables. Shippou visibly paled and shook his head vigorously.

“No way in hell.” He growled back lightly, earning a laugh from his companion.

“Truce then.” She finished, glancing out to the different guys and girls on the beach. Suddenly, they were interrupted by an unfamiliar voice.

“Hello there, sweet cakes. My name is Inuyasha. Mind if I have a seat?” he smirked, his silver hair slicked back as if he had been in the water already. Eyeing him a moment, she replied, “I think not. As you can see, I’m occupied.”

Without another word she turned back to Shippou, “So anyway, I came back early…it blew. Good thing I was getting paid for it.”

“You don’t just ignore me, bitch!” the unfamiliar voice called out again, making the young female stand up, her eyes narrowing.

“What did you just call me?” she asked, her voice taking on a dangerously dark tone.

“You heard me, I didn’t stutter.” He replied, his own voice darkening. Shippou knew that sparks were flying and vacated the seat he was on, his eyes quickly falling on his friend.
“No no, because if I heard correctly, I think you just called me a bitch, and, sorry to say, not just everyone gets the honor of calling me that.” She replied, taking a step forward and smirking at him.

That smirk threw him off, and the young man paused, unsure of what to do now.

“Have a seat?” she offers, putting on an innocent look.

Blinking with a little confusion, his ire ebbing away, the young man sat down, only to have Kagome sit down on his lap, her backside gently rubbing up against his crotch, giving an evil grin to Shippou. ‘He’s in deep shit now…’

Fighting back a moan, his hands moved to try and land on her sides. She was the beauty of the beach, and despite his half brother’s warnings, he had to come over here and meet her, despite Kikyou, his girlfriend, sun-tanning nearby.

“Well now…My name is Kagome…” she started conversation, all the while wiggling a little on his lap, slapping his hands away lightly and chastening him like a small child with just the wave of her index finger.

“N-nice to meet you…” he replied, growling softly when she slapped his hands away.

“Tell me, Inuyasha, do you like me sitting here on your lap?” she smirked, knowing what she was doing to him. Gods she had to stop herself from bolting. He was so damn tiny, and it wasn’t as enjoyable when she did this to blockheads like him.

“Very m-much so…” the young man answered, his hips wanting to move of their own accord.

“Un huh…” she whispered back, before turning, that same finger that was just chastening him, coming up to twirl around his nipple. “…do you want to go somewhere else?” she asked seductively, her eyes locking with his.

“…please…” he whispered back, painfully hard now, and the way she was looking at him, he knew she was going to be in his bed tonight. Smirking, he gave her his best grin, one of his fangs poking out of the corner of his mouth.

“…alright…” she stands, looking to him before grinning evilly. “…go to the hospital, you’re going to need it!” she shouted, before bringing up her foot and slamming it down upon his sported erection, her eyes flashing with anger as she watched him fall forwards, a howl of pure pain coming from his mouth.

People stared as she turned and huffed away, leaving the injured young man to fend for himself, pissed beyond belief that someone that dense had even thought of coming in her direction. Shippou quietly followed her, ignoring the whispers of the people they passed. The young man was lucky she didn’t kill him. He shuddered; glad he wasn’t on the receiving end of her wrath.

“Kagome…?” he questioned hesitantly, making her pause and turn to face him. “What is it, Shippou?” she asked, her face completely devoid of any previous anger, a soft smile on her lips. “I swear some days I think you’re mental.” He replied dryly, sighing.

She just grinned, taking him by the hand. “He deserved it. Idiot males. He didn’t even look that great….” Just as she spoke, her eyes widened a little, pausing in her tracks, almost tripping Shippou up.

“What is it?” he asked, frowning at her expression. She never took an interest first in something else, most of the attention was diverted on her, as that other young man had learned firsthand.
“…hottie at high noon…” she smirked, hiding the way the particular male had her aching already. No one had done that to her before. Sitting in one of the lounge chairs was one of the most beautiful men she had ever seen. Lean tanned body, long, chocolate colored brown hair that went clean to his thighs, and a complexion to die for, he was gorgeous physically. However, on second look, she noted a book in his hand, and sunglasses covered his eyes. So either he was here with someone and didn’t want to be caught looking, or he was alone and he was shy. She prayed it was the latter, and slowly made her way over to him, letting go of Shippou’s hand.

“Hey, handsome.” She replied, confidant as always as she lowered herself in a lounge chair beside him.

Kouga was bored. He was here with his younger brothers Ginta and Hakkaku and was their driver for the day. Honestly, he would rather have stayed home studying, but if he wouldn’t have taken them, they wouldn’t have been able to go. His mother had died years before, and his father had always been out of the picture, having left his mother when the twins had been born. Turning the page in the book he was reading for a report he had to do, he didn’t notice anyone else around him--that included the midnight haired beauty currently inspecting him.

He was studying hard and putting himself through college. His mother’s insurance policy made sure that neither him nor his brothers would ever have to work in their lifetime, but still, he wanted to become something more. He was currently studying to be a veterinarian, and was even working part time and learning on the job. He didn’t get out much, and didn’t have a girlfriend. He didn’t have many friends either to speak of. Raising his brothers was his life, and he would die before leaving it up to someone else to do that.

Breathing in softly, he heard the screams of nearby children playing in water, and he smiled; yes, children were definitely in his future, should he find the right woman. Blushing deeply at his train of thought, he looks back to his book in attempts to regain his focus, only to be interrupted by the sweetest voice he had ever heard.

“Hey, handsome.”

Certainly she wasn’t talking to him. Was she? Looking up from his book, he blinked as a beautiful woman with long black hair sat down in the chair beside him. Her eyes were mesmerizing, but he could also see a spark of mischief in them. Feeling his heart sink, he didn’t reply; if he ignored her maybe she would go away and her and her friends that he was sure were up to humiliating him today would go and find someone else to embarrass.

“My name is Kagome.” She tried again, trying to get him into conversation. She didn’t miss that look of disappointment on his face. Did she say something wrong?

He turned back to snap at her, but froze. She looked confused. Maybe he was wrong? Staring a moment, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from hers, but easily they traveled to her cheeks, and her full, pouty lips, and even further down to her breasts, which were large, but not too much so that he could enjoy feasting upon them. Blushing deeply at where his train of thought took him, his eyes lock back with hers, which have an amused glint to them.

“Like what you see?” she smirks, running her tongue over her lips seductively. She saw him checking her out and was glad that this hunk of a man was finally noticing her.

Clearing his throat, he replied rather quietly, “…Kouga…”

Raising an eyebrow at him in confusion, he elaborated. “My name is Kouga.”

Blinking momentarily, she smiled, making him feel warm from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. “Nice to meet you, Kouga.”

He nodded in reply, nervous. “Nice to meet you too.” He had no experience in talking to girls. Good thing Kagome wasn’t interested in talking. Swiftly, she went from her chair, to his lap, her legs sliding down over the sides of the lounge chair.

“Oh, I like you…” she smirks softly, lifting up her hands to take off his shades. She had to hold back a gasp at his eyes. They were ocean blue and even changed colors in the sunlight, the ocean blue turning aquamarine, before turning sky blue.

Okay, now he knew she was toying with him, except, she was staring into his eyes, and he couldn’t tear his own away. Her eyes seemed to pierce into his soul, and it stirred things in him he had never felt before.

Kagome was at a loss. She had never felt attracted to guys before…not like this. Sure she had her weekly fling, but never had she come in contact with someone and been a little shy. She wanted to prove she was worth something…but why to him…why now? She couldn’t answer any of the questions before two children’s voices broke through their thoughts, making Kagome stand quickly, the shades still in her hands.

“Kouga, Kouga! Can we have some money for the ice cream guy?” two adorable little boys called to him, getting on either side of him.

His eyes went to her briefly, wondering what she would say or how she would react.

Again, Kagome was at a loss. Disappointment filled her. He was married somewhere, with a wife, and these were his children. She should have known true beauty like that was already taken. Biting her lower lip lightly, she stood there, feeling kind of out of place.

“Sure you can…but we should be heading back. We’ll pick up ice cream on the way back home.” He replied, sending them to pick up their towels. He saw that look of disappointment cross her features. ‘Another woman who doesn’t want to be tied down to someone with kids.’ He thought, hiding his own disappointment. Even though they weren’t technically his kids, he wouldn’t leave them to fend for themselves. Any woman he would date would have to be used to them being around.

“…my brothers.” He finally said, before her eyes lit up, surprised.

Scrambling, she replied, “…they’re really cute.” Smiling softly, she held out his sunglasses to him. As he reached for them, she leaned up and kissed him softly, smirking lightly at his deep blush. It wasn’t much of a kiss, merely a brushing of lips, but it was Kouga’s first kiss, and he was blushing furiously now. Grinning lightly, she pulled out a tiny card from the waist band of her bikini, holding it out to him.

“Call me sometime?” she asked after a moment’s pause, her eyes locking with his again. Damn, he had pretty eyes.

Nodding softly, he was bombarded by Ginta and Hakkaku once more, shouts of “ice cream, ice cream” coming from their little mouths.

Smiling warmly to them, she turned and walked back towards Shippou, a grin on her face.

“Well I believe that is a first.” The young man said, his eyes slightly wide with surprise.

At Kagome’s questioning glance, he elaborated. “I have never seen you that close to someone you liked and not leave home with them.”

“Well…” she looked back to him, her eyes softening from her usual bad girl demeanor. “…he’s special.”

With widened eyes, her friend looked over to Kouga once more, watching as his eyes were locked on Kagome’s body, before he disappeared into the crowd of people.

This was going to be interesting to see.
