Chapter 1: Prologue
Kagome sighed and looked in the reflective glass of a dress shop on the way home. InuYasha looked back over his shoulder, frowning at the slightly saddened expression on his best friends face.
“What’s wrong, Kagome?” he asked, walking back to her.
Kagome looked back down, “Just thinking bout stupid stuff.”
“Like what?”
Kagome walked over to a bench and sat down, sitting her books on her lap before leaning on them with her elbows. “Just thinking bout Senior Prom.”
Inu Yasha’s ears twitched in frustration and he rolled his eyes. “ Come on, we aren’t even done with 8th grade yet. Wait till we get in High School before you start worrying bout stuff like that.”
Kagome shrugged,” I can’t help it InuYasha. What if I’m still big when we get to that point. No one in their right mind is gonna want to dance wit me.”
InuYasha mentally shook his head. He’d known kagome almost his entire life, she was his best friend. She was a pretty girl but she’d always been heavy, nearly pushing one ninety. He was always trying to get her out of the house to go walking with him, hoping to get her active enough to loose he weight but she never seemed to want to. He hated it when people made fun of her because of her size and had gotten into more fights than he cared to count. He knew she had a crush on him but always steered away from him, he knew he’d never deserve a girl as nice as Kagome. He just hoped she either lost weight or found someone that liked big women.
“I’ll tell you what,” InuYasha blurted suddenly wit a big smile on his face. “I make you a Taisha promise, and those are actually worth money.”
Kagome giggled and nodded, knowing Inu Yasha’s father, InuTaisho, was worth his youkai form in platinum and then some.
“ I promise that if you don’t have a date for our Senior Prom for ANY reasons, I’ll dance the last dance with you.”
Kagome’s eyes lit up like a Christmas Tree, “ Really? You promise?”
InuYasha actually looked offended, “ Of Course, do you doubt my word?”
Kagome stood up, her books falling to the ground and hugged him tightly. “ Thanks Inu, that means a lot.”
“ And I plan to remember that promise Mutt.” Kouga exclaimed , walking up with Ayame, Miroku, and Sango. “ Break it and I’ll break you then give Kagome the last dance myself.”
“ feh.” InuYasha growled out. “ You don’t even want to date kagome, why do you want to dance with he?”
Kouga winked at Kagome, “ Because every girl deserves the last dance.”
