Faith of the heart

Chapter 1

"Kikyou" Inuyasha softly muttered in his sleep.

*Dream*

The sun shined through the trees as Inuyasha saw Kikyou leaning against a tree.

Kikyou smiled "Hello Inuyasha I've been waiting for you."

Inuyasha slowly approached "Kikyou what are you doing here?"

Kikyou's smile faltered, "I'm here to say goodbye."

Inuyasha walked up to her slightly confused "Goodbye?"

"Yes Goodbye. I...." Her voice started to crack "I love you Inuyasha but I can't let go of this hatred it is too strong plus your heart no longer belongs to me it belongs to another."

Inuyasha just stared blankly at her unable to speak from the truth in her words.

When he finally found his voice it is laced with sadness "Your right my heart is with another and I love her very much."

"I know." Kikyou said with her eyes misty with tears. "I can't give you the love that you need but she can. She truly does love you."

Inuyasha smiled "I knew it the first time I met her that I loved her and I know she feels the same but now I know I need to let you go."

Kikyou sighed, "I needed to be let go along time ago and now you can move on. Goodbye Inuyasha I wish you all the happiness with Kagome."

"Bye Kikyou I know I will." Inuyasha grinned dreamily suddenly he heard someone calling him and he knew who it is.

*Dream ends*

Still in a daze Inuyasha wondered what had just happened but before he could think about his dream she yelled "Inuyasha are you up yet?"

Inuyasha opened his eyes to find Kagome starring up at him.

"Yes, I'm up wench. Why don't you just leave me alone?" He gnarled.

"You don't have to be a jerk about it I was just asking." Kagome's tone getting angrier by the minute

"Just go and leave me the hell alone." He said getting up.

Kagome’s temper began to flare. "Fine be that way you can't be nice for one minute can you!"

"I would be nice if you would just leave me the hell alone." the anger in Inuyasha's voice increasing.

Kagome not wanting to argue looked for Sango who is betting with Miroku if Inuyasha would get sat or not.

"Sango do you want to go swimming? I need to cool off." She gave an irritated glare at Inuyasha while she said it.

A blush formed on Inuyasha's cheeks knowing Kagome was upset with him.

Sango shrugged as she stood up "Yea sure why not."

As Sango and Kagome walk away Kagome screamed, "SIT!" All they heard was a loud thump and a smile crept on Kagome's lips as she looked at Sango.

Inuyasha pulled himself out from the well-made hole "Damn you Kagome!! I hate when she does that." He stared at her disappearing form then to Miroku.

"Hey don't look at me I didn't do it" A smile crossed his face. "I think we should go watch the girls" Miroku slyly winked.

"Only you would think like that Miroku," Inuyasha laughed as he started to think to himself 'Do I really love Kagome and right now do I want to watch her? This can't be right when did I fall in love with Kagome and Why do I find her scent so intoxicating?' With all those questions running through his head he didn't see Miroku sneaking off until a scream and a loud slap rang through the air. Inuyasha walked over to where they were and watched in amusement.

Sango's temper was high as she screamed, "You damn pervert. Can't you get your mind out of the gutter or were you born with it?"

"I would have to say I was born with it." Miroku smiled sheepishly.

Sango put her hands on her hips and shook her head in disgust as she went back into the water.

Miroku shrugged and sat down to dry in the sun.

Inuyasha turned his attention to Kagome and started to think again. 'What if I told her that I loved her and I want her to be my mate? How would she react?' Now thinking out loud "She'll probably sit me for saying it" Inuyasha flinched a bit remembering how it felt to get his face whacked on the ground.

With him thinking, we see Kagome starring intensely at Inuyasha as he is with her that very moment.

Kagome started to wonder what he was thinking about. 'I hate to see him like this. I wish I knew.' she sighed.

Kagome remembered how much she loved him wishing he felt the same way. 'I fear that we're going to have one of our fights and I'm going to say it and make a complete fool of myself. I don't want to hear him tell me no that he only cares for me like a friend it would break my heart.' She shuttered at the thought. 'The truth is I'm so scared of losing him' tears started to form in her eyes.

Sango watched the two stare at each other and knew what both were thinking. They loved each other even Miroku notice it and stared in amazement.

Sango walked up the bank to Miroku. "Look at those two, they both realize that they love each other but they think the other one doesn't feel the same way." She sighed.

"Well Sango I could see you doing that with me." Miroku lifted his eyebrows.

"You are impossible." She rolled her eyes. "Seriously Miroku we need to talk to them."

"What do you want me to do talk to Lady Kagome?" he remarked.

"No idiot you go talk with Inuyasha and I'll talk to Kagome. Did you really think I would let you go alone with Kagome? Did you think I was born yesterday? So what do you say?" Not waiting for a yes or a no she continued. "You go talk to him and I'll go talk to her." Now she waited for Miroku to say something.

Miroku just nodded in agreement as they stood up.

When they passed each other Miroku couldn't resist he turned around and grabbed her.

Sango's face turned bright red with embarrassment and anger "You damn pervert this is not the time! Do you want me to slap you again because you’re asking for it?"

"I'm sorry my dear Sango my hand slipped" he smiled.

'Yeah-right' Sango thought to her self.

After that they were both off dead set on bringing those two together.
