Amethyst Visions

This is my first fanfiction here, and my first of Inuyasha, so constructive criticism is welcomed! Shouldn't be long for new chapters, I have quite a bit of it already in my head, just needing to put it to pen. Err...computer ;)

Disclaimer: I own nothing of Inuyasha, only the new character of Kaiya and the wheels in my head.

“That bastard Naraku, he has to be here!” The silver-haired hanyou yelled as he brandished Tessaiga from its sheath. The group stood outside the shimmer of a powerful barrier, and just the hum of its power was enough to send painful electricity dancing across your skin as the blade quickly began to glow a brilliant scarlet. With a furious yell he charged the barrier, releasing the wind scar of the red Tessaiga with all the pent-up rage the past three years hunting Naraku had brought.

It had been a week ago that Kagome had caught a glimmer on the edge of her sub-conscious about this barrier. The type and scent reeked of the vile Naraku and was hidden deep within the mountains, nearly impossible to find. And with the swarm of youkai that descended upon the group, they knew this had to be, at last, Naraku’s true hideout. They had found him.

With a battle-cry Kagome ran into the fray after Inuyasha, their friends close behind. Hiraikotsu rushed past her head, sending Kagome’s dark locks whirling about her shoulders as she notched an arrow into her bow and pulled it back. Letting it fly, the single arrow purified five of their enemies, earning a brief grin of approval from their half-demon leader before he ran his sword through yet another boar demon that charged him. As determined as the young group was, their foes were slain and with abated breath they looked towards the palace the guards had been so aptly protecting, awaiting for the emergence for their final fight.

“Well, where the hell is he?!” Inuyasha grumbled in frustration after several minutes passed. Tilting his head back so his silver mane fell down his back, he sniffed the air several times before turning puzzled golden eyes to his companions.

“Inuyasha…don’t you think it’s odd that this barrier was not filled with miasma, as so many of Naraku’s are?” Miroku finally ventured forth. With a low growl the hanyou rushed inside the sliding doors, tearing through the paper as he ran wildly about.

With a look at one another, the others followed, unsure how to handle the fury evident in their powerful friend. They stopped behind Inuyasha, who had paused within a large room barren of all furniture aside from two mats in the center. Candles flickered to life, illuminating the room and Kagome couldn’t help the gasp as her brown eyes took in the room. While the room was bare, the walls were not and were colored in vivid murals of lilies and flowers surrounding a painted pond which was a brighter blue than the most breathtaking day. The ceiling even revealed a fake sun brilliantly flanked by realistic clouds. Despite the darkness of evening outside, one would believe in was midday.

But it was not the room that had captured Inuyasha’s attention, but the girl who sat upon the tatami mat in the center, her head bowed, her legs folded in a lotus position beneath her clothes. Ebony hair lay twisted and intricately braided upon her crown, but the majority lay in a solid, straight blanket of darkness down her back. The pale lavender silk kimono she wore indicated a woman of high stature and wealth. Slowly the girl raised her head, her porcelain skin a strikingly beautiful contrast to the dark curtain surrounding her. Dark lashes framed large luminous amethyst eyes, both piercing and calm.

Out of shock, the group remained silent, unable to voice the myriad of questions coursing through their heads. Despite the strange eyes the woman possessed, and the odd aura, the girl was human. A human. In Naraku’s palace. Surrounded by youkai guards within Naraku’s barrier. It was left to the loudest of them to break the silence. “Oi! You! Where the hell is that bastard?”

Amethyst eyes slid to the hanyou, though her face remained passive. The soft rosebud lips remained shut as she silently watched the trespassers. Kagome’s own eyes snapped to Inuyasha’s in anger, “Calm down! If you scare her, we’ll never find out anything!” With a compassionate gaze, she returned her attention to the girl and walked forward, making her movements slow as she knelt beside her with a smile adorning her face. “I’m Kagome. Who are you?”

The girl seemed uncertain, studying each of their faces, as if unsure what to make of the intruders. “I am Kaiya,” she finally answered in a lyrical voice. “Princess of the Kaga province.”

Miroku, his dark eyes wide and gawking, quickly snapped to attention. In a move more akin in speed to Inuyasha, he also was by the girl’s side, her small hands clasped within his. “A princess, and especially one so beautiful, to be so far from her home must be difficult. I am Miroku, and I assure you that-”

A thud accompanied by a screeching “Hentai!” from the taijiya silenced the monk who now lay sprawled on his side, nursing a bump on the head with a lecherous grin on his face.

Ignoring the brooding hanyou, the injured monk, and the fuming demon slayer, Kagome continued to implore the princess. “Why are you here? Did Naraku kidnap you? What would he want with a human?”

An infathomable look crossed the girl’s flawless features, amusement dancing in her odd eyes. “Naraku…is my father.”
