Kagura stared out of the window, her crimson eyes reflecting the pale hues of the moon outside. The forbidden outside world that was just out of her reach. In a way Kagura wished that she couldn’t see any of it than it wouldn’t hurt as much. But Naraku loved to remind her of everything that she could never have. Kagura gave out a sigh of frustration and pushed herself away from the windowsill. Why even bother hoping, her mind asked her, everyone that can help already hates you. It’s all your fault, you got yourself into this. Kagura buried her head in her hands, I know that already and you don’t have to rub it in my face, she told herself. She looked up when she sensed that someone else was in the room. She looked up to see Kanna standing there, her young pale face as expressionless as always.
“Naraku requests your presence.” Her monotone voice still made shivers run up Kagura’s spine. Nobody knew what really happened to Kanna except for her. Kagura could remember when she had just been born. She was just like a regular child, other than her appearance. Her voice held expression, it had life and her face held emotion. When Kanna found out that she was to take part in killing the hanyou with the “cute fuzzy ears” she went berserk. She saw what her “daddy” was really like and she refused to take part. Naraku at first ignored this and things were going to go as planned, Kanna then developed a innocent crush on Kohaku. When she found out what Naraku had done to the boy, she went out to help him, somehow finding a way to return Kohaku’s real self and control to him. This was the last straw for Naraku. Kagura could still remember it as it made bile rise up in her throat.
“Kanna, I heard about your little fit about killing Inuyasha,” Naraku had said, the girl sitting in front of him with her hands nervously twisting in her lap. Kagura had stood in the back of room, biting her lip, wondering what was going on, “That I could overlook, but fixing my toy which I was going to use to destroy the demon slayer I can just not permit.” His crimson eyes hardened. Kanna seemed to realize what was going on. She let out a small scream and hastily sprung to her feet. She ran to the back of the room and hid herself behind Kagura. “Don’t let him hurt me sister! Please! Don’t let him do that to me!” Kanna sobbed into Kagura’s kimono. Confused, she looked up at Naraku and her blood ran cold at the look on his face. She shielded her sister with her arms, “What are you going to do to her Naraku?”
“Get out of the way Kagura or I will have to punish you too.” Naraku hissed. A jolt of fear when up her spine but concern for her sister over ruled it. Kagura just glared back at him and took out her fan. “Dance of the dragon!” she yelled and jerked her fan at him. Tornadoes of wind flew at him. Naraku’s eyes narrowed and Kagura could hear his voice in her head, almost breaking her concentration. Kagura concentrated and pulled her mind back to controlling the winds. Naraku’s eyes filled with anger and all of a sudden Kagura felt a horrible sharp pain invade her chest. Kagura could no longer concentrate on controlling the winds. Gasping, she fell to the ground. She couldn’t breath, her breath came in short gasps as her chest grew tighter. Hot searing bands of pain were wrapped around her heart. Naraku chuckled and Kagura looked up, sweat dripping into her eyes. He held a throbbing, crimson object in his hand and with growing horror, Kagura realized what it
was. His hand closed around her heart and the pain started up again.
“Kagura!” Kanna sat down by her sister, “what’s wrong?”
“Kanna” Kagura gasped, “Get-out-of-here-“
“I don’t think so.” Naraku hissed, his handsome face hiding the true distortion underneath.
