The Fight
A breeze ruffled through the air as the group walked along. Shippo was picking wild flowers every few steps to give to Kagome later. She was walking next to Inuyasha, humming softly, while Inuyasha kept a keen eye on the surroundings. Miroku and Sango were walking a little further behind with Kilala.
“What’s wrong,” Kagome asked. Inuyasha had suddenly stopped and turned to look behind Sango. His ears were straight forward and alert as a small growl escaped his lips.
“Sesshomaru,” was all he growled. Everyone turned to where he was intently watching. They weren’t to be disappointed.
Sesshomaru was walking leisurely down the path towards the group. Ah-Un was following behind him with little Rin sitting on his back and Jaken was walking next to the large beast.
“Get back Kagome,” Inuyasha growled as he put his arm out in front of her. When she backed away, the familiar ring of Tetsusaiga being draw from the scabbard filled the air.
“Do you plan to fight me, little brother,” Sesshomaru asked Inuyasha, his usually emotionless voice colored with a tinge of amusement. Giving a small flick of his wrist, he brandished his glowing finger nails and told his ward and vassal to stay out of the way. “Lets make this quick then. Your death will not be as quick.”
“It’s not my funeral, bastard,” Inuyasha yelled as he lunged for his older brother. Sesshomaru jumped into the air with no apparent effort and Inuyasha followed in pursuit. Sesshomaru suddenly disappeared from in front of Inuyasha and appeared behind him. His swift flick of his fingers brought twin stripes of blood across his half-brother’s back. Inuyasha fell quickly through the air as the poison knocked him unconscious.
“Kilala,” Sango yelled to her two-tails. The little cat ran towards Inuyasha, changing into her demon form as she ran. Fire sprang up to lick at each paw as she jumped into the air to grab Inuyasha. Kagome and Shippo stood huddled together just among the trees watching the battle. They sighed with relief when Kilala caught Inuyasha.
“You bastard,” Inuyasha gasped as Sesshomaru landed a few feet away.
“It’s time to die, Inuyasha,” Sesshomaru announced in his ever there calm as he pulled Tokijin from its scabbard. As he ran towards his injured half-demon brother, a boomerang-like weapon appeared in front of him, causing him to jump into the air to avoid it.
“Interfering wench,” Sesshomaru mumbled in his infuriatingly calm voice. He started to run towards Inuyasha again, when a sudden movement in the woods caught his attention. An idea lit his mind as he caught a glimpse of Kagome between the trees. Switching directions suddenly, he raced towards her.
“Kagome!” Inuyasha shouted as he tried to get to his feet. His brother’s poison was slowly working itself through Inuyasha’s body. Kagome and Shippo screamed in fright as Sesshomaru descended on them. Never slowing, Sesshomaru grabbed Kagome around the waist and threw Shippo to the ground.
“Goodbye, little brother,” Sesshomaru called as he leapt to the air, “We will meet again.”
Inuyasha hardly paid attention to his brother’s parting words. All he heard was Kagome screaming for him. He struggled to follow his brother as blackness closed in around his vision. He heard Sango, Shippo, and Miroku trying to tell him to lie down, but all he could think of was getting to Kagome. His struggle carried him to the trees before he fell into black unconsciousness.
