Discalimer: NOT MINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

He pressed his nose to the other’s cheek in a
gesture of affection. The other turned his head and caught his lips in a soft kiss.

Inuyasha pulled himself closer and nuzzled into his
lover’s warm neck. Miroku raised one hand and teasingly rubbed one of his soft,
furry ears. A sound suspiciously close to a quiet purr drifted to his ears, and
he smiled.

“I thought you were a dog, Inuyasha, not a cat.”

Inu opened one golden eye to look at him. “You have
a problem with it?”

Miroku kissed him again, his arm wrapped comfortably
around his bare body. “Not at all. I find it rather charming, really. Purr all
you want to.”

The hanyou closed his eye again, shifting slightly
in his embrace. Miroku noticed with a smile that the purring didn’t stop; got,
in fact, if anything, louder. The hand attached to the arm wrapped around Inu’s
chest began stroking his upper arm, liking the feel of his surprisingly soft
skin. He looked so rough and tough, but underneath that brash exterior was an
insecure, gentle… easily hurt young man.

He ran the fingers of his other hand through
Inuyasha’s silver hair, looking down into his contentedly relaxed face. The
backs of his fingers brushed against the soft fur at the edge of his ear, and
it twitched as though shooing a fly. His purr continued unabated, rumbling
softly against his chest.

Inuyasha opened his eyes again and reached up to
pull his hand down, the pale blue prayer beads catching on a few strands of his
hair. The purr unobtrusively stopped, leaving an oppressive silence that sat
heavily with the monk.

Inu stared at the hand before him, lightly stroking
the black material, brushing the beads. His eyes looked sad as Miroku watched
his face. Miroku lightly moved a few errant strands of hair from his pale cheek,
caressing the skin with his fingertips.

“We have to find Naraku,” Inu said finally, closing one
clawed hand gently around Miroku’s and pressing it to his chest. Miroku could
feel the beating of his strong heart through the thick layer of muscle.

He kissed Inuyasha’s forehead. “Don’t worry – we will.”

“We’d better. Before… before it’s too late.”

Miroku extracted his hand and wrapped both hands
tightly around him, burying his face in Inuyasha’s hair, inhaling deeply. He
smelled so good… “I’ll be fine for some years yet.”

“You think.”

“Yes, so I think. So I promise.” He stroked Inuyasha’s
hair over his back comfortingly. Inu was always so concerned about him… it was
sweet.

He could feel the half demon smile. “Baka. You can’t
promise that.” But he shifted in his hold to press close to him, nuzzling his
neck again. One of his arms was trapped between them, the hand resting on his
lover’s shoulder. The other was wrapped around him, pulling him closer. He
began purring again.

Miroku had to remember to thank Kikyou, at least in
his mind, the next time their paths crossed. It was because of her, because she
had abused Inu’s trust as she had, that he had him as he did now. Despite how
she had hurt him, despite how he despised her for doing so… he had to be
grateful.

Inu stirred slightly and looked up at him, pulling
back slightly and kissing his jaw. “You know, we had better go back to the
others soon, before someone notices.”

Miroku sat up with him, kissing his cheek lightly.
He located his robe and pulled it on, then watched as Inu fastened his haori. He
wrapped his arms around the hanyou from behind, kissing the top of his head.
Inu turned around, purring, and kissed him, wrapping his arms around his neck.
He moved his head and leaned his cheek against his arm, licking Miroku’s neck
softly, affectionately.

The monk moved one hand down and stroked Inuyasha’s
rear. The hanyou leaned up and licked his cheek, exactly where Sango would
undoubtedly have slapped him.

“Hey,” Inu said suddenly, pulling back slightly to
look at him, reminded of the same person. “I thought you were going to stop
chasing Sango – and every other female that crossed your path.” He seemed
unconcerned, but Miroku could see the hurt in his eyes. Jealous, insecure
little puppy.

He smiled reassuringly. “I still need someone to
bear my children, Inuyasha, just in case.” He kissed him again. “Besides, I
thought you were going to stop leading Kagome on.”

Inu scoffed. “I don’t lead her on! She’s just… dumb!”
Miroku laughed at him and kissed him, holding him tight. Then, without a word, he
let go of him and started back toward the others.

They stepped out of the bushes to the sound of high-pitched
screaming and water splashing.

“SIT!”

“Miroku, you pervert!”

Inu twitched and looked up at Miroku in
exasperation.
